Finally seeing someone on DNA! Super excited! Also very interesting to hear that is an even route, because then it's grade depends on the whole climb and not on a single move. Otherwise it gets downgraded easily if you find a beta break or if it's really morpho. I would be interested in seing someone like Stefano Ghisolfi on that one long move to see what he could come up with. Can't wait to see you on it again!
I think Stefano is a bit shorter than Jakob, but he's very good at finding new beta. Let's hope he goes there and try it.

I think it's just the name of the sub climbing area so nothing on Maps would show up.

Doing all the moves in a day/two can’t be a 9C, silence was way more harder for Stefano who climbed the hardest 9b+ out there
@@WillEndSeraFin What if you had 100m of 8C moves? Then surely any of these top climbers could do all the moves in one day but would probably struggle to ever manage the whole thing. These formulas about what can and can't be a certain grade seem silly
Next next: Seb sends Excalibur and downgrades it to 9b
I agree with Sera, though, it doesn't seem realistic that you could do all the moves or link the hard parts of a 9c in a single day. "Not harder than 9c, and not easier than 9b+" also seems like a bit of a coy way of saying this thing isn't as hard as people think 9c is.

9c and he is sticking the moves already? must be more so a 9b if we go by previous 9b+/9c attempts surely?
sticking the moves section by section and doing them all in one go is completely different though. This is a long climb.
I think the length is what makes it hard. Seb Bouin has been successful at climbing 9b+ so it may be 9c.
im very new to bouldering, but when a route gets downgraded from another climber, what is the process of downgrading it? Do you post it on a forum, make a video, word of mouth??

My god those holds (5:20 onwards). Truly horrible.
When you compare the struggle of Stephano on Silence with Jakob having all the moves on DNA in 2 days, it's difficult to believe it's 9C. or then Silence is 10A :-D
Silence is way more cruxy though. That was Jakob's point. First crux of Silence is 8C or even harder boulder problem that's also very three dimensional and not straightforward, and then you have a good rest before the 8B boulder. DNA on the other hand seems much more power endurance based. And both those things aside, it's Seb who put it up, and he has a stupid track record and has exactly the opposite of a reputation to grading things softly (he probably sand bags) so I'm pretty sure DNA is stupid hard, as is Silence, and very likely 9c.

I just dont see how this is the same as silence. He came and did beta on everything like its nothing. But nobody can get through the crux on silence. Let alone do the route

I usderstand theres long routes, powerful routes ect. But silence is long and powerful. And Idk if stefano fully completer the 2nd crux or not. I thought he got close. I couldnt imagine him doing the whole thing. But he also spend an entire month learning those. Idk how long Jacob was there but it didnt seem like it took long for him to do all the moves. Lots of guys have spent a long time just doing beta on silence and never get it.

Like I said I'm not a climber so IDK how to grade routes. I have just been binging on climbing videos for the last 3 months lol. Its would seem silence is probably closer to 9c+ but Adam is conservitive with his grading. And DNA is probably a 9b+ and Seb was a little liberal with his grade. I may be wrong but I thought I saw that seb never even climed a 9b and went straigt to 9c. So he may have thought that it was that hard while Adam has climed most of the hardest routes in the world as a kid.

Great video, excellent production, amazing photography... but, Jakob, have you considered doing a video that is actually fun to watch? I mean congrats and all, but this is just so boring. There is absolutelly no joy or adventure or danger or anything, it feels so empty, cold and void of life. I think I'd rather just watch a single shot of you climbing route, no music, no voice over.

Kneepads? You can argue if those are aid, but it gets into very silly minutia about the difference between thick pants and a kneepad rather quickly.
