2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide (FLHX) - Full Review and First Ride - No Detail Left Unanswered

- Harley-Davidson has revamped their two most popular touring bikes the Road Glide and the Street Glide. The Street Glide's success has been undisputable in the heavy-weight cruiser class. Since the 2006 Model year when the Street Glide went into uninterrupted production, the popularity of this type of "big wheel" factory style has created a new segment in motorcycling. In the 2024 model year Harley has completely changed the body style of the Street Glide. We got a preview of the new look last year with the 2023 CVO Street Glide. This year we also have a new infotainment system, improved Milwaukee-Eight Engine, better suspension, and the list goes on. Matt Laidlaw goes into all the details and gives his opinion.

Rare Breed MC was the first to strip the Electra Glide and make it into what it is today. Back when the dealership and other riders said it was ugly. Before the name Street Glide existed. Cool video Laidlaw. 😎
Valid comment! I’m gonna pin this!
Thank you.
@@MattLaidlaw Thanks! Keep posting these awesome videos and road trips! We're watching!
Don’t care about aftermarket stuff. What the manufacture does is what matters !!! Rare Breed doesn’t manufacture motorcycles 🏍️.
In the nineties a guy I know bought a electraglide (I think it was a sport model). He put on a different front fender, removed the passing lamps, and it looked liked a stripped down bagger, what they call a street glide today.
@@mrchopboogie yes exactly! Lots of guys were doing this. This is what helped influence the design of the street glide.
Matt, you’re the only Harley Davidson reviewer I watch. You’re videos and entertaining and very comprehensive. Thanks for all the great content.
There is NO better place to go for Harley reviews 🎉. Matt, your knowledge and presentation on the history and visual orgasm of the best motorcycle on the planet is amazing not to mention the scenery. THANK YOU!
Simply amazing the details, history. You are a credit to Harley Matt. I'm looking at a Road Glide but 90% of this is applicable to both. Many thanks mate. Well done
Thank you.
Yes, a lot carries over to the road glide. I have that video coming out in the near future as well.
His family sells them and his family must eat.
Matt, your videos are FANTASTIC. The HDMC better be paying you a marketing salary. I'm not kidding!! I'm certain it takes tons of time and effort on your part to get these vides out. Thank you.
You killed it Matt! Way to go. Everything a guy could want to know about the new remodeled street glide.
My job is done here then. 🤙🏼 thanks man.
Best Harley channel on youtube.
Thank you sir.
Facts!!! Very well put together!! Wish they had there dealership in Florida! Trying to buy a CVO now and our dealerships in area are HORRIBLE!!
I will never stop loving Harley bikes . My 2017. M8 is still running strong!! Hard Candy HotRod Red flake Custom !!!!
I love that paint job! It would be great if they brought it back next year!
That's the best Color scheme
Give me a kick start and no digital bill shit
@@paulsnyder3307 But you have a digital phone.
@@paulsnyder3307 very few people want that shit
Thank you for the video. I enjoyed the historical information in the beginning and the explanations of all the new features. Please keep up all your good work and travel safely. Thanks again.
Another awesome video! If I ever have a Harley shop, I’m just going to have all your videos on a loop and playing continuously for everyone to see and enjoy!
great video and very comprehensive. I purchased mine 2 weeks ago and have had zero issues with using my old Cardo headset with full functionality. Very early in my time with this bike, but I really like it so far. Keep giving us great content and thank you!
Matt, ALWAYS the best review of new Harley models! You have a talent for presentation and getting the essentials put together for great viewing! Thanks for your professional approach and great editing, there are a lot of us that enjoy your video content!
Once again I wait for your review and you did not disappoint. I love watching all your videos. Excellent delivery of information that keeps you at peek interest. And I agree , this new line up of the baggers is incredible. In my opinion this was the biggest year for Harley with the best and most significant improvements introduced in a single year. I see you on a Road Glide next Matt , lol.
Great Review as usual. I always wait for your reviews on any new bikes. I also appreciate when you point out what you don't like about a bike.
At first I read about these new models and watched a lot of videos. I was not overly impressed by the changes. Then I went to the dealership when they came in. I was much more attracted to see and feel them in person. Not enough to pop, however, as I currently ride a '23. I wasn't going to view this video until I saw your name on it. Your presentations are always top notch camera work, editing, and sound quality. But mostly the straight up and comprehensive, well thought out information is for me, the draw. I know HD values what you do (whether they acknowledge it or not). I believe you are responsible for a great many decisions to purchase a new bike. Good job, you made me want one..!
2024 Harley is for Granny now they cant go over 100 mph hahaha my Vespa is faster
If i wanted a race bike, I'd have one. There is a lot more to riding than speed. Everything is not a race. On the street what do you win anyway? If you live long enough, you might figure it out. Or you might splatter like so many others.
@@fredflint1797 all Harleys now are safer and grandma like .. the decision is the woke feminine weaklings who now control the gay Company called Harley..hahah ride a man's bike one made with superior technology and build for speed and men. ( Ducati )
you provide all the details, great job as usual,, spot on!!!
I bought the 24 RoadGlide, love more each time I ride it!! As always, great videos Matt, Thank you
In my late 50s, I am that old and crusty rider you mentioned but I really love the look and the many features of this bike. Harley was needing a style change and this hits all the marks without being a severe makeover. Thanks for the tour of this new bike Matt! Excellent video.
Thank you for another great video. I truly appreciate that you did voice-over instead of moto-vlogging like other reviewers do. I also appreciate your honesty regarding how you feel about some of the new features. I also am becoming a ‘crusty old man’ when it comes to design changes.
I’m not in love with the new look of the SG or the RG. The large display is great but I’m not sold on the new fairings, tank, and saddlebag redesigns.
I ride a 2018 SG special similar to yours, and I prefer that design to the new one.
Always the best at clearly explaining the facts. Great video.
As always, THE best Harley reviews and information are from this channel. Great work, and these new bikes are really beautiful in person. The best colors in recent history this year, IMHO.
Thanks for your detailed videos, after a 12 year pause I think it’s time to get a bike again!
I am always looking forward to your next video on TH-cam. Your HD bike reviews are second to none. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to the next one.
2024 Harley is for Granny now they cant go over 100 mph hahaha my Vespa is faster
Matt, you absolutely do the best review.. fantastic job
Bro I’m 41 and been a crusty old man biker since I was a teenager.
I just wasn’t able to afford a Harley til my later 30s
Fantastic overview, and the history lesson. I appreciate the video.
It’s an adventure on its own to watch and soak up all the info you are handing out! Well done and thank you !!!
Best dealership on the West Coast...Thanks Matt, Dave, Nick and the guys in the service and parts department. . just got my 2024 Road Glide and couldn't be happier......
I am with you on the hydraulic clutch! The sophistication of the hydraulic clutch is a 5 star charm for me!
Agreed and all the whiners have us at a 1930 inadequate cable system. I guess it’s because they couldn’t get their hair in a man bun after riding
I wish harley would bring back the hydraulic clutch as it’s far superior
Wtf is that
Great video as always Matt. Always the best breakdown and information available.
Great job Matt. You always give the most in depth reviews.
I wish they had made the front storage compartment lockable. Good looking bike.
Excellent review video Matt. The best I've seen from you, and they're normally good anyway.
thanks Matt, you helped me find a motorcycle shipper for my out of state move. You're the best.
Matt, your videos just blow it out of the water! Thank you
When I left your dealership, it took a little bit to get used to the new controls, but I now love the new buttons, new screen, 117” motor, stock bars and seat solid for the 6 hour trip home, having owned the two previous versions of the road glide, this is the best bike I have owned to date. Major improvement by the motor company.
What’s up Justin! Thanks for the comment. Good to hear the feedback. 🤙🏼 thanks for taking the time. I appreciate you coming down! Enjoy the road glide.
@@MattLaidlaw thanks to you and your team, it was worth the trip, renewed my faith in dealerships, your straight forward approach earned my trust and I encourage everyone to make their bike purchase/parts and service through you. Thanks for your videos,
your shop and crew.
I was very critical of the new fairings when they came out. I can accept the new batwing fairing, but I still can’t stand the road glide fairing - it looks horrible side by side with the 2023s.
I appreciate your work as always.
Thanks again, Matt! Your vlog was very informative.
Great video Matt as always. Harley should be paying you for these videos. This is going to be my next bike.
Another great honest video. I like the history part also. Thank you.
Best Review out There!! Thanks Matt!
This was the most thorough review of the new Street Glide that I have seen. Thanks for the work!
Excellent job Matt and kudos to your production crew! Top notch. Keep ‘em coming.
Thank you!
Matt - been subscribed for 2 years. I love and appreciate your content. Well done sir.
Thank you for this comment. I appreciate the sub!
I feel the same way about ride modes. The power control has been built into motorcycles from the beginning, it is a grip on the right hand side that rotates and there is a lever on the left at your foot. Between those two you have all the ride modes you could ever need.
Fantastic content sir. I really enjoyed it
Very good and honest review, thank you for that.
Nice clear, knowledgeable, informative review
Another factual unbiased vlog which spells it out for everyone. I always learn something from your content. Question is, will it be SG or RG? Thanks Matt. Btw I received my ML Ts from Stefan a couple of weeks back in England. That’s friendship for you; that’s motorcycling.
I love it 🙌🏼 thanks for the support.
Yea, the history is hard to argue against. It’s hard to deny HD made the batwing fairing what it is today.
great video Matt, lot of good information.
Excellent presentation on the new Street Glide.
Thank you!
Thank you for the great review as always
Great review as always. I myself do appreciate the gear indicator. I have the 2023 CVO Street Glide and your comments about the new suspension are spot on. On my 2021 CVO SG, I had to replace the seat and suspension. The 2023 needs no upgrades in my opinion. Thanks for the great content.
Without question, I believe you are the best HD content creator! I often watch your videos multiple times and gain nothing from your peers. You're knowledge and delivery are above all else out there. You're factual content and humility in delivering the facts are refreshing, so many content creators are focused on themselves, you are pedigree and deliver humbly. With your incredible content, I just bought my 2nd Harley, 2024 Street Glide, trading in a 2020 Street Glide Special. I am still breaking her in and learning the Infotainment System, so no true review, but your honest review, especially with the weight is proven. I'll update this comment in a few days after I get to wake her up, after the break in. FYI: Stage 1 from dealer, I was warned to not do S2/CAM until more data was available. I'm a rider from Georgia but I look to your content immediately when I need help. Thank You!!
Thank you my friend. This video took me about 15 hours to edit. That’s not including travel and filming. Comments like this make it all worth it. Thanks for taking the time to leave this comment. It made my day.
Excellent review.
Personally, I prefer the matt plastic inner fairing. Easier to clean and no worries about the gloss finishing showing scratches and swirls.
Wow, great video production. Thoroughly enjoyed watching. I have never been a big Harley fan, but I will say need a new Street Glide.
Matt that was an outstanding presentation as usual.
Like always, you bring the awesome history to those who dont know much about the brand. This is a great bike, and I believe HD did a great job. I will be getting this bike in the near future. Thank you, Matt......👊😎
Fantastic review as always Matt. Also, your voice is so calming. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I’m take calming 👍🏼
Great vid as always . I love the historical context
Just picked one up two days ago.... Love it! Nice review too!
Always informative! 👍
Very informative, thank you
Great review as always!
Another fantastic video edit
Another stellar review Matt!
Nailed the video as always waited to see your review. Then the others are added entertainment
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Solid review as always Matt! Love the History lesson with voiceover as well 😎⚡️🤙
Great video Matt I'm loving the history of motorcycles there.
Awesome video brother 👊🏻. I noticed the same thing with the seat. We took a bunch of breaks out in Vegas but my back normally would be screaming after a short period with that old seat but not with this one
Nice history lesson. Very entertaining and knowledge full video
Great review Matt!!
Great video, thank you! Haven’t had a Harley for 7 years now.
Another great video, Matt. Can’t wait to see your Road Glide take and to see which you choose for your next!
Great review Matt. I'm surprised and impressed with modern updates to the Street Glide. I am really digging the styling. As for your review, great info. I even laughed at your subtle digs at Indian at the beginning of the video (I currently own an Indian). 😁 Keep on keep'n on H-D!
Great review thanks Matt
Thanks for checking It out.
Excellent video!!! I especially
enjoyed the first part!!! BTW, I love the new body style on both bikes!!!
Thank you. I think the body styles are nice. 🤙🏼
Beautiful beautiful bike. Much improved.
Incredible video, Matt! Thank you for taking the time to put all this information together. Especially liked the history lesson in the beginning! Quick question - in your opinion, do you think Harley will release a Road Glide Limited version on this new body style?
Great job on the review!
Matt, once again, FIRST Class video and content. Came by your dealership, hope the remodel is done! All the best, FRAN
They did a great job. Looking forward to seeing them in person and riding them if i get the opportunity. 🤠
Great video, I just got a 2024 RG but this video made me realize that it was a good purchase.
Awesome man. Enjoy the bike
Amazing video Matt, you a legend in the TH-cam world.
I love the history you put into the videos.
Thanks man. I glad to hear people are enjoying that.
Great video Matt. 🤘⚡️🤘✨✨✨✨
I love that the cardos can connect directly!
I love the review of the 24’ it still hasn’t grown on me as of yet, it makes the Rushmore bikes more retro the 11inch iPad screen, electric on screen gauges no “old school” analog gauges lol I understand Harley has to modernize I remember when fuel injection was an option in the 90s. My 21 bagger is 2yrs from being paid for, I honestly don’t see a reason personally. Bags are thinner too but time will tell I love the road glide but I dislike the new RG fairing so much I’d have to get a SG. but my local is selling them for 35k base and 52k for the Cvo st in Cali. I have no issue criticizing Harley Davidson some just kiss their ass and are yes men. But they surely did “modernize” it. Btw Laidlaw is an awesome Harley Dealership and love your reviews. Always top notch and informative
I paid 26500 plus TTL and about 1500 in bs fees. 30000 out the door. For a 24 street glide. I love the bike it feels so much lighter than my 2016 road glide. Don’t test ride it if you don’t want to buy it.
Yes, these two bikes were due for updates. And, I really like these updates. Both bikes are improved tremendously in my mind. I started as a shark nose fan before these changes and I like the change to the fairing even more on the street glide than on the road glide. So, I’m even more of a street glide fan now.
I agree completely with your thoughts on the manual clutch vs hydraulic...I love my hydraulic clutch and also like my handle bar mounted analog gauges on my 18 Roadglide!
Awesome review (no surprise). Looking forward to the Road Glide review.
Nice video, enjoyed the history lesson at the beginning.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watchin’
Matt is the best HD reviewer by far. I appreciate the content and look forward to the opportunity to visit the dealership, despite it being on the other side of the country from my location. :)
Thanks man. If you’re ever out here be sure to drop by.
Great commentary and history lesson at the beginning of the video
I’ve ridden my 107 M8 from TN to the PCH, HELL YEAH!
Niiiiice
Great review!
Great video .
I bought a 2024 White Onyx Street Glide and love it .
Oh nice man. Enjoy. 🤙🏼
