Beach metal detecting with Mal & CTX3030 at Blackpool, UK 6th August 2015

- Brilliant day hunting at Blackpool.
Loads of coins, Bing, Bling Bling and bits and bob's.
Hunted a gully that had formed with red clay in bottom so well down in the sand.

Mal you are a true inspiration. I'm a real newby to metal detecting, I got a Garrett Euro ace about a year ago and have only been beach detecting (really hard to get permissions). I then got a CTX3030 (steep learning curve, but your videos are a god send)

The soldier is fully intact except the paint has gone. Very rare to find them in that condition.
The little dancing dog is in good condition too.

You keep them there as don't want them back at Blackpool. Be different next week as back on my old stomping ground of Bournemouth. Always plenty there.

If you don't leave you get wet lol Thats what nearly happened to those tourists I mentioned.
Seen many stuck on that outer bar. The gully when it fills between them and the shore can be four to five foot deep with a good rip Very dangerous to the unwary.

Hopefully a video from Bournemouth in Tuesday as big tides forecast. Great timing straight after the Bank Holiday.

great finds, cant wait until i replace the detectors me and my 7 year old had stolen out the back of the car, then we can get back out hunting and looking at taking a trip around the beaches down on the isle of wight as ive got family down their we can stay with, hopefully have enough money saved up soon to replace a detector between us, not tried beach detecting yet. so cant wait to give that a try,

I love beach hunting as much as inland.
Different techniques required and searching for different things.
Shame some scally nicked your detectors but make sure you replace them with a good machine.
saving as much spare cash as i can, hopefully ill get one between us soon, my daughter had a garrat 250 which was my starter machine which was actually a very good machine and found some great items including a very nice gold, diamond and ruby clasp bracelet which i gave to my mom, my detector was the garrat euro ace, again i found this a great machine, hopefully ill have enough saved up to get another euro ace by the next 2 weeks, well fingers crossed at least, just spent a fortune on school uniforms for the kids, its one bill after another. so fingers crossed we will be back out detecting soon and ill get my daughter a machine of her own for christmas.
hopefully the garrat will be ok for beach hunting, only 1 way to find out i guess

One good thing about Blackpool now is the lack of foil and pull tabs. They seem to get washed away.

I love beach hunting as much as land. Always make a change and the air is so refreshing. Plus the Tottie in the summer keeps an old man happy :)

Bit of a disaster if hunting below south pier as their dredging sand to dump on the beach due to erosion I was told. The guy told me that its sterile of finds though.
Same thing is happening on many beaches which ruined the detecting. Bournemouth dumped three foot of sand and there was nothing but a few fishing leads. Needs a big storm to shift it again. Always a waste of time the Council's doing this as the beach sorts it the sand level at each tide. Erosion already happening with the 3' sand they dumped last year.

Wow Mal what a day! I would be pretty excited if I was making finds like those .. multiple old and silver coins is something you don't find here too often. I really enjoy your videos, the quality and the editing are very good. I know different detectors excel in different areas but do you prefer the CTX over the Excal for your beach hunting and why ?

The reason I use the CTX more than the Excalibur is the way I can set it up for a beach hunt more than I can do with the Excalibur. Rather than multi tone I have the CTX set up for tones disc with all metal for max depth. Still the Excalibur is detector of choice when out beyond waist deep in the surf as easier to control.
