Stumbled upon this video when I was dealing with my 2005 Suzuki BLVD that has a non-rotating ignition switch right out of the blue. A dealer wanted nearly 300.00 plus 2 hrs of labour! Followed your steps and it all came out great. I was able to pull mine out with needle nose pliers- so no grinding. Put the ignition back together and voila! Thanks so much for the tip! One more tip - once you do this to your ignition, your key will very likely fall out when you are driving - so once the bike starts, take out the key and put it in your pocket! Then when you stop take it out and turn off the ignition!
@@kenbowes4130 lol thanks for the advice. That's about as far as I've gotten with that bike. It's been sitting since I've posted the video. I hope to finish it one day. I'm just so busy with other crap.
@windybartos136 might be too new, the newer your machine is, the more likely it has a security chip or immobilizer. Look up that model and see if it has one. Or if it has a chipped key.
Hey bro i GSX-R1000A 06/2017~ 2016 it i can pull The barrelll out from the bottom of the lock all i do then is put a flat head screw driver in to the white barrelll and should it start i lost my keys and i need to get it to the dealership tomorrow and i dont want to have to tow it there as the tow is $1000 Can You Help Me Please As Im Really Frustrated now after not knowing what to do all day
That bikes too new, I believe it has a chipped key. The ecu and key basically communicate with each other. My trick only works on older bikes primarily.
@BrentJones-t7u These are older, I wish I could tell you but I can't. They're too old to have an immobilizer. You'll probably find that on a reddit forum
@@crazyDIYguy when I got this bike, the guy had lost the key for over a year so he tried hotwiring it. He twisted all those wires together. so trying to start it what exactly would that fry?
Hey man how would u go about bar lock tho i lost my keys and my bikes bar locked and i dont want to break the inginition on accident trying to break the lock if i get the lock cylinder out of the ignition and grinded it down like you would that make it possible start the bike like u did but aslo get my bar lock disengaged its a gsxr 650
Im going to try it on my 1983 and my friend son lost the key. I hope it work on my Harley shovelhead. Really dont want to pay 200. Plus labor. I also have to get my tool game up 😢
Lmfao ya mean you had the wrong size you brought with you when you went to steal the bike. You have the proper size there in your garage where it is not where you cut the bolts lmfao nice job anyway
Thank you for this but may I suggest an easier method for anyone looking for an alternative or maybe in a jam and cannot perform a barrel drill out and wafer shave? 1. Trace the ignition wire to the bottom of the barrel there will be two Phillips screws (not the one way screws holding the entire ig barrel) these screws will allow the BOTTOM of the ignition barrel to come out. When you do you should be holding the ignition wire circuit board with the brass contacts. Up further in the barrel is the white plastic key switcher. This is what the key turns when inserted, a little metal arm turns this. Remove this and take a small screw and nut and screw it on top of the circuit board so that the contacts from that touch the contacts from the board. Make sure it’s right but not too tight to where it can’t turn and the bike will start. Tuck it away or back in the cylinder.
@ You have to make sure it stays in contact with the brass tabs so you insert a screw down the middle and nut to tighten it down but not too tight. Just enough for the contacts to touch and stay.

But when I do finish it, I will keep the key in the pocket thing in mind. 👍😆
Hey I have a can am x3 max and I can’t find the key and I really can’t afford to have one remade for it so do you think that this would work for me

Can you bypass Honda HISS on fire blades?
Over my head friend, apologies. Wish I knew
How do you get past immobiliser

Bro, I I’m going to try this and see if it works for me. I imagine it would. I have a 2006 Suzuki GS500F.
It should as long as the key doesn't have a chip or it's not a battery type key

@@DivergentSoul check fuses, might have fried the ECU, you can probably pick another one up on eBay cheap.

I've never went up against a bar lock, that would be my default probably, the angle grinder.
Ik I can bypass the ignition for it to start if I wanted it too or just jump the selinoid I just want to be able to use my ignition still

I don't think anyone would steal that bike amigo. Not in that sad shape. 😆
