I love how Mercedes builds mad cars just for the hell of it.
For Mercedes, "the hell of it" means middle eastern oil producing countries. These countries do compete with hell with their summer temperatures and laws but they do pay well.

Amazing 4x4. Great video. I recognize the place. Los Andes belt, the path Argentina and Chile and then Santiago. If you guys came all the way here, you should also try to reach the summit of the Medanoso Dune (at Atacama Desert around 850km north from Santiago). Medanoso is the highest Dune in the world 1.660 above sea level of pure desert sand. (For next time).

at 0:16 it looked like it was sitting on Merc's 5-spoke rims, but every shot after that (up until the 1:45 mark), it was sitting on rims closer to that of the 6x6. Does that mean in standard trim you wont be getting the beadlocks and on-the-fly-adjustable-air-pressure features?

6x6 has huge gap between front axle and center axle. I would accept wheel well in between the doors just to have even distance between axles. Maybe, I dunno, I need pictures for that too.

Allways been a fan of the Mercedes GD-class vehicles, Since we had those in the Army, Ive been amazed how strong and capable these cars are offroad.

I do believe this will be one of the top offroad vehicles for sale, ofcourse there are plenty of good cars out there, but this one has style.. ;)
Wow amazing how they tucked that differential up in there... that's my biggest gripe with people who lift trucks, sure you can put bigger tires, but you're really only lifting your trucks lowest point up 2-4 inches.
Yes, they are called portal drives just like Mercedes uses on the Unimogs. They give you more ground clearance but, especially in a "conversion" like this to the G-Wagen you lose a lot of axle articulation. This means you'd have to be careful over very rocky, undulating road as you'd be more likely to tip the vehicle.
I hope they forget about the limitation, gives more engines choices and put in a automatic variable shock absorber, to improve the highway performance.

The windshield line seems too low and rear foot space is severely compromised so it is impractical for NBA stars. Furthermore, the super cool led lights on the roof have been outlawed in US

It's too bad they have to be so expensive and in limited numbers. Would be nice to see a semi-regular production model that was actually some what attainable as I think they'd probably sell rather well. I know I'd love one to tool around off road in!
I'm confused as to why a smaller and less powerful version of the G63 AMG costs nearly $100,000 more?!. Hmmm... The G63 AMG is plenty competent off-road, the G500 can't out off-road it by much. Wouldn't a better option be to throw some off-road tires on the G63 AMG and maybe some suspension upgrades?? I'm sure Mercedes will sell out of these G500s, but still not sure of the rational behind the pricing.

Someone explain to me. Are they holding back on power? I mean v8 two turbos and only 419hp?
The aim is to make less reliable car, so the dealers could earn more money. I mean turbo vs NA.
My thoughts exactly, this should have been an AMG. Apparently it has the same motor as the AMG GT and the new C63 so maybe they purposefully kept the power low to prevent lawsuits.
Mercedes tunes it for more low end torque, high end horsepower isn't as important in a truck.
