    You have to love this car. In this video was the one called 4x4^² which I thought was a concept (bright green) or is it a production version?

    What's with those front fender flares that wrap all the way forward to the bottom of the front bumper. Those would be damaged the first time out off roading with our group. As well as the exhaust turn outs in front of the rear wheels.

    So cute. I'd love one. Don't think I would use it off-road though, I'd be afraid to scuff the paint :-(

    While I have no doubt that this thing is terribly capable, I have to say that the video shows nothing that my perfectly ordinary 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ79 pickup with its perfectly ordinary 6-cylinder normally-aspirated engine couldn't do far cheaper with far heavier loads for far, far longer.

      its just another german car for show off. this car will not be like toyota nor defender. 250.000€ for....? electronic gheeks? toooooo much for real life in offroad conditions. sorry but an old toyota will perform the same. ok not on that speed. but you dont want to drive like this in everyday life. this car was maded for dubai. here is just useless.

      +Otrada 89 *this video* shows nothing my 14-year-old, turbo-less, 136 horsepower, 367,000km veteran with dual diesel tanks and 1400km range can't do quite casually. I have no doubt that geared hubs (which are available for my 'yota btw) add phenomenal capabilities to the G-wagen. But this video doesn't show those capabilities. Oooh look at the G-wagen drive up and down a 20˚incline. Oooh look at the G-wagen drive along a bumpy track. Oooh look at the G-wagen drive over a small rock. Meh. The approach and departure angles are nice, but again: nothing my old truck can't also do. And at 1:48: the G-wagen's articulation is decidedly restrained. Wake me up when they show what this thing can *really* do.

    • @TheCaferocker

      As far as 4wheeling goes it would kill the Raptor with its locked solid portal axles and factory beadlocks giving it the ability to air down to almost nothing without losing a bead.

    Erstens seid Ihr mit Euren Edelbenz nur durf Pillepalle gefahren. Das ist ja wohl ein Witz was Ihr da gemacht habt bei der Bodenfreiheit! Aber ich versteh Euch, wer will schon seinen Edelbenz in ein hartes Gelände schicken, könnte ja ein Kratzer an das schönen Karbonimitat kommen. Und wer zum Teufel kann sich so ne Karre leisten bzw wer findet bei dennen den Allrad?

    • @TheCaferocker
      @TheCaferocker 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Squeaking can be associated with the use of Heim joint suspension which is way stronger and way higher quality than any standard poly bushing suspension systems... Have you ever heard a real race cars suspension sometimes they're noisy as hell but the highest quality in the world. Or Trophy trucks that hit jumps at 130mph+ their suspension is noisy and squeaky heim joints that do 1000 mile desert races at full speed.

    An over priced relic of the past - when will Mercedes pull the plug on it and give us something modern. At least the Landrover defender was reasonably priced even if it too was well past its sell by date.

    I love the looks of this car but I don't see how it can go offroading...
    To me it looks like I could tip it over on the road by just leaning on it.... then again I would never take a car like this offroading.

      Did you even... watch the video??

    • @Berettadv
      @Berettadv 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      tacomanfan344 Yes, watching the suspension was like watching an elephant on a balance beam.
      There are cars built and capable for offroading. This looked like it was tipping over the entire time but I forgive it because it is technically a luxury vehicle and not a safari 4 wheeler.

      Alex Vennos
      Well, Alex, If I say "It looks like you don´t know, what you are talking about!", does it make that true? No...because "looks like" doesn´t make it a fact. Have you ever driven a car with portale-axles? Even, if they are just bolt on-solutions? These cars tipp over at an angle, where people usually need a change of underwear...furthermore: A G-Wagon maybe a luxury toy in the US, but its original purpose was to be a realiable offroad-workhorse. Despite the power-everything and luxury-extras, it still is doing all that it was intended to do once...

    Mercedes' highly overpriced competitor to the Ford Raptor?

    • @TheCaferocker
      @TheCaferocker 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd take this Benz over a Raptor any day, the Raptor is just a overpriced F-150 and for the cost of the Raptor you could do up a Ranger that would rape a Raptor in the desert.

    • @cobaltlukather9045
      @cobaltlukather9045 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raptor base price: 46,000 USD
      G500 4x4^2 base price: 295,000 USD
      not that i'd own either, but calling the Raptor overpriced in the face of that is like complaining about the price of tape going up 3 cents while the price of fuel went up a full dollar.

    • @TheCaferocker
      @TheCaferocker 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cobalt Lukather The raptor is a overpriced glorified f-150. Anyone with a tiny bit of know how would take that $46,000 for the base model and BUILD a real prerunner. And yes I know the Benz is WAY overpriced also but if we were to compare the 2 on which we would rather have for offroad ability I'd take the benz all day long, for all around offroad ability fully locked on portal axles is way better than the Raptors IFS front standard solid rear axle on leaf spring set up.

    • @cobaltlukather9045
      @cobaltlukather9045 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i won't argue with it being glorified as its performance only somewhat impresses me, as a Jeep Grand Cherokee is nearly a ton lighter and has a more powerful engine available to it.
      on off road ability, i'd agree to disagree as though the Raptor's suspension is not as advanced, it still gets the job done and is extremely durable, and i'd trust the Raptor to keep off-roading longer than the Benz because of its mechanical simplicity. just my personal opinion.
      although if i were to get a serious off-roader, i'd forget all this and swap a Cummins into a Jeep CJ5 with my own choice of aftermarket suspension and tires for probably 10K less than the price of a Raptor.

    • @TheCaferocker
      @TheCaferocker 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cobalt Lukather I agree with you on your opinion on you idea on the CJ5, I'm actually building up a couple Tacoma's right now and one of them I've been thinking of doing a cummins swap to it along with a solid axle swap using Mercedes Unimog 404 portal axles, my other Tacoma I already did a solid axle swap to it using 1 ton DANA 60 axles but now I wish I just went with 404 portals from the start of the build LOL!!!
