Safiya and Tyler have convinced me to start taking myself out to do things and try them even if they might seem mad at first, and it's a beautiful thing! Because of them, I got to try flower arranging, ceramic painting, and SO many more things
I love how Saf is now the second person I've seen say that the rug is too pretty to use as a rug after spending hours creating it! Nerdforge was the same. Shows how much effort and artistry goes into making the product and the love of it.
The look of shock and disgust on Cosmo’s face at the end was priceless. He was real mad he didn’t get the chance to sink his teeth into your beautiful rug.

I always wonder how many people go to the places Saf visits after she releases the video. Do the businesses just experience a bit of a boost for a few weeks, or does it like explode their customer numbers? Or do they hardly notice anything at all because most of Saf's viewers don't live anywhere nearby?

Thank you so much for showing our little ghost rug in your video! My fiancé has been subscribed for many years and she sent me this video because it was related to tufting. We were very surprised to see one of our first rugs being showcased! Your first rug came out great! Tufting is a very fun hobby that can look intimidating!
I am ashamed to say that I felt like rug tufting would be pretty easy, minus the back and arm pain. Rationally I knew there had to be techniques but I figured "Ehh that looks simple!" I love how you shine light onto all the steps and work these professionals do!!
That's one thing I really appreciate about these "I tried" videos Saf makes. They show how much skill and effort go into seemingly easy crafts (or at least, that are made to look simple by the artists' ability and video formatting). At the same time, they also show it's not impossible to learn these crafts if you dedicate yourself!

Those are some great channels, and I also suggest the wholesome livestreams from The Click and OneTopic to help fill the time when you can’t sleep, but also need a mental break from the stress. Some are more energetic and chaotic, but some are chill and a friendly, supportive voice in the background, and they last for hours like Evan and Katelyn’s live channel videos, so you don’t need to engage and make decisions for the next video if you don’t have the energy for that. 💜

AHHH THE NOSTALGIA. I have been trying to remember the name of Kid Pix for YEARS now. Tyler, you've solved a decades-old mystery! I loved playing Kid Pix Studio in first or second grade. Wow, the nostalgia! I found an older in-browser version and totally went on a half hour rabbit hole playing with the tools (and finally figuring out a bunch I never understood when I was little). My kids are going to have so much fun with that. The rug is so cute!!
I’ve been to Erni’s Freestyle Tufting & Ceramics studio at their Andersonville location! The staff is incredibly nice, patient, and helpful. It’s such a fun and satisfying process 💖
So glad you tied your hair up. I once caught my hair in the winding mechanism of a sewing machine leaving me with a rock hard dreadlock which I had to cut off.
My hair is so long that I generally put it up in a bun to keep it away from machinery or the oven door as I bend over to get something out. I did get a bit of my hair caught in my Dremel once but was lucky enough to get it out fairly easily. I'm doing my best to not do that again.
I super appreciate the honesty and clarity of the fact that it took seven hours. I was super ready to dive in and now...well, now I'm just considering it. Haha.
I love your journey of collecting the most diverse basket of skill sets ever! And I admire how, with all the humor and jokes, you (and Tyler) keep full respect and attention to the professionals, eager to learn and not afraid to discuss failure or how hard learning a skill is. Thank you!
I always get so excited to see Safiya’s videos, she could read and I’d watch. So many of the creators I love stopped making content, Jenna and Cristine, I’m just happy she’s stuck with us.
I love that even when you're not really all that good at something, you keep going and going and get better and don't let little hiccups stop you! Especially as a recovering perfectionist/former gifted kid, it's really motivating to watch you do new stuff and film the process, showing off the end result even when it's not perfect. A lot of people who make a living posting online would rather lie about having done something by themself or not post anything less than perfect results, so you guys' videos are a breath of fresh air.
I unfortunately was having a panic attack a while ago and got super dizzy and nauseous so I had to have something to listen to or else I was not gonna be ok, this was the first thing that came on my page and and I won’t lie, it almost instantly made me feel better. About 2 minutes into this video I slowly calmed. So honestly thank you Saf. I needed this so much right now. I hope you had a lot of fun, it looks like it. ❤😊
I appreciate the notes about how much time this takes. So much of our social media reduces hours or days of effort to a quick min and it is good to recognize the effort.
I gotta say, since you mentioned having never done them before, crocheting and embroidery are super fun. Id say crocheting would be slightly easier to pick up, but once you get past making mistakes embroidery is super great too
I think rug tufting is totally it's own art. I've been crocheting for over 45 years, weaving for over five, and none of that would have helped me with that gun! There is a saying that yarn is yarn, but there is no mention of guns! Fun video. You also might read up on Saori weaving, which teaches you to let go of the "perfect" line, whatever you do is correct (to put is way so simply).
Honestly that design is still pretty HARD for a beginner 😂 Once I saw the moon and clouds I was like „Yeah, ok that should be doable on a plain background“ but once the stars and the bat appeared I was like „Oh my god, this is not easy Saf, what are you talking about?!“ Especially because there were so many elements that needed to be outlined once again to fill in the background. You really did amazing!! And you guys even finished it in one sitting! Hello? 😂❤
Were you watching children in Rafah burned to death, in tiny pieces being placed in a bag, and smashed by an exploded building today, too? And remembering that our government and our tax money is responsible for all of it?
@@toddhollen Not sure how to respond but... I KNOW my day hasn't compared in ANY WAY to so many people. I hope and pray that EVERYONE who is going through ANYTHING they don't know how to handle or don't think they can handle makes it through. I love how supportive yet honest Tyler is, and that Safiya is comfortable enough to not feel too hurt about the feedback! So cool to see this studio featured, I'm intimidated but also intrigued by rug tufting lol
When the background color went around the bat's ears, I gasped! I am so impressed! I love trying new things and love that you guys are always game too!
First of all: rug looks amazing and this was such a treat to watch Second of all: Safiya’s jacket in this video is EVERYTHING and I found it!! It’s from a brand called Dragon Denim and they have a bunch of jackets like that!!!
Oh my gosh when they talked about Kid Pix, I swear an entire section of my brain was just unlocked again. I guess I forgot about that and then forgot that I forgot too lol man, such good memories, thank you very much Tyler lol I love it
i remember making something like this as a school project back when i was still in grade 3. But i didnt use that kind of gun, I just use a tufting needle and for the cloth i used a cut rice sack. I ended up having a score of 95 and I remember framing that Rug myself on a Illustration board and covered it with plastic cover/sheet. Its a good experience but tiring. I showed it off to my mother when she got home after 6 months of being away for a job. Safiya did great for a beginner. ❤😊
I loved watching the bat get outlined! I could tell from the back that it had the shape but it’s just sooooo satisfying to see the outline come in and really make it pop
I know this isn't really the exact place for it but I feel like as a former BuzzFeed person you might be able to relate... this is the kind of content I wish the try guys were doing. I really, really enjoy watching you try stuff you're interested in and stuff that we all seem to see on tiktok or in shorts or whatever. I think you do such a good job with giving the crafts a good try and I enjoy watching you make whatever it is you want to make, even if it's not something I've ever had much interest in. And I wish when the try guys discourse was happening about what should they be "trying", I wish they'd take a page out of your book ♥
I am thinking we need merch of the rug design 8:17 a patch would be really cool. It was fun seeing this as its one of the few crafts Im not actually intrested in doing myself. Intimidates the heck out of me. Very fun to watch though as I dont have to deal with upset at missing out. I dont need any new crafting projects.
My 2 year old daughter is watching with me right now (we are both struggling to sleep) and she said WOW at the front of your test tufting! Lily approved!❤
safiya!! as someone who has a bfa in fiber art that works primarily with tufting- this is SO impressive for your first rug! i hope you are proud of yourself :) exciting to see this on your channel
I'm so glad the little bat's head came out ok. The fluffy side reveal after Erni fixed it looked like it had no definition at all, like the head didn't even exist and was just an extension of the wings. It looked so much better after the trim!
I am obsessed with the host Erni! She seems like the sweetest, most genuine person! The way she explains & demonstrates everything so clearly & interacts with the guests is top tier! I would go soley to hang out with her & hear her cute little voice 😅❤
Thanks to this video, 30 minutes after watching it, I signed up for a birthday gift to me in a local tufting rug workshop. The glue is drying, and I need to go back soon to finish the rug, and after that I'll be the proud owner of a very cute Korok rug. I hadn't heard of this before this video and the way you showed it was so infectious that I found myself wanting to do it, too. I fully understand wanting to try out new things constantly, as I have ADHD as well. It's so satisfying learning new things. In this last year, I've taken on oil painting, minuature building and painting, being a Dungeons Master for D & D, basket weaving, now tufting, and I have started to look into needle painting right now... Curious to see where your interests will take you next! Thank you for you rlovely content! :D :D :D
Something that I loved about that video : you took something you saw on the internet and into real life and local business. I know that a lot of your melting video were made during the period of time where we couldn't leave our houses and they are still good video that I enjoyed watching at the time but this video has something a little bit extra in my eyes. I hope to see more things like that in the future

I appreciate the notes about how much time this takes. So much of our social media reduces hours or days of effort to a quick min and it is good to recognize the effort.
It’s lovely to see Tyler be so supportive of Saf in all her strange endeavors
why would you just copy and paste someone else's comment. weirdo
Erni’s energy vibes so well with Saf and Tyler! What a fun trio.
Safiya is truly the jack of all trades. It's amazing how quickly she picks up different kinds of art
Wow what a lovely studio! Ernie seemed like such a great teacher as well. Loved the design you all came up with!
Erni’s smile is absolutely delightful???? And her “tap tap tap” advice. Freaking love her
Erni seems like she's so funny and fun to be around 😂 i already love her
Yes I liked her giggles and smile - so charismatic
Honestly that design is still pretty HARD for a beginner 😂
Once I saw the moon and clouds I was like
„Yeah, ok that should be doable on a plain background“ but once the stars and the bat appeared I was like
„Oh my god, this is not easy Saf, what are you talking about?!“
Especially because there were so many elements that needed to be outlined once again to fill in the background.
You really did amazing!! And you guys even finished it in one sitting! Hello? 😂❤
Yaayyy. Needed a pick-me-up! Thanks Saf!❤
Were you watching children in Rafah burned to death, in tiny pieces being placed in a bag, and smashed by an exploded building today, too? And remembering that our government and our tax money is responsible for all of it?
@@toddhollen no i didn’t watch, is that a movie?
@@toddhollen Not sure how to respond but... I KNOW my day hasn't compared in ANY WAY to so many people. I hope and pray that EVERYONE who is going through ANYTHING they don't know how to handle or don't think they can handle makes it through. Safiya’s videos give me a few more smiles than I would've had on a day like today. I'm appreciative and grateful. That's all. That's the message.
@@PKCee genuinely awesome response to that uncalled for activism
@@PKCeenot them invalidating you. You didn’t need to explain yourself to them but you did it the best and most respectful way possible 🫶 Im sure you don't need to hear this but just in case, to you and to everyone reading, it's okay to not feel okay. It's valid to feel how you feel despite all the heartache happening around the world. Enjoy the video and relax, just as Saf wanted us to do while watching ☺️
Erni is such a sweet soul and such a patient woman. I'm sure her business will continue to flourish, she makes tufting look so cool!
I love trying new things and love that you guys are always game too!
i love tyler being safiya’s hype man for everything
Who else would love to see them start a home decor diy series? 👀
maybe a DIY Danie collab 👀
@crunchevo8974 That would be iconic
Sometimes we forget that we all start somewhere! It’s hard to break out of ideas of perfection. Your rug is gorgeous!!!
Erni is so lovely, so helpful and encouraging, wonderful!
First of all: rug looks amazing and this was such a treat to watch
Second of all: Safiya’s jacket in this video is EVERYTHING and I found it!! It’s from a brand called Dragon Denim and they have a bunch of jackets like that!!!
SHES BACK❤❤
Ur first
W
She’s only been gone for like three weeks
It’s only been 3 weeks
@@q_q6162still I missed her 😣
Oh my gosh when they talked about Kid Pix, I swear an entire section of my brain was just unlocked again. I guess I forgot about that and then forgot that I forgot too lol man, such good memories, thank you very much Tyler lol I love it
Yay, Device Orchestra shout out! That guy's extremely talented and is criminally underrated.
i remember making something like this as a school project back when i was still in grade 3.
Tyler is so supportive, i love the ‘you’re doing great honey’ energy
Your graphic designer is so good, esp for illustrating all the mechanics of your gadgets 😍
I grew up in Bridgeport!!! HELL YEAH FOR THE REPRESENTATION!!!
I love the look of the 'shaving test wall' rug! It looks so satisfyingly abstract. You bat turned out soooo cute!
Erni is so adorable! Thank you for showcasing her studio 🫶🫶
I love watching rug tufting videos. The fact that Saf is doing it, I couldn’t click on this video fast enough!
Erni’s laugh made my day
Mine too, what a beautiful soul
She's on a mission to try anything and everything, and I love it
Erni is such a sweetheart! ❤
Thank you saf, after the many years, you have not changed. It feels nice hearing your intro every now and then.
Except that’s not her art to sell
4:50 Saf and Tyler being a Blink and knowing Boombayah is all I need right now
My 2 year old daughter is watching with me right now (we are both struggling to sleep) and she said WOW at the front of your test tufting! Lily approved!❤
safiya!! as someone who has a bfa in fiber art that works primarily with tufting- this is SO impressive for your first rug! i hope you are proud of yourself :) exciting to see this on your channel
Thank you for showing the actual work and even the hard to handle pieces. It’s refreshing.😊
I’ve been putting off finishing my first rug for six months. I guess this is a sign to pick it back up
I'm so glad the little bat's head came out ok. The fluffy side reveal after Erni fixed it looked like it had no definition at all, like the head didn't even exist and was just an extension of the wings. It looked so much better after the trim!
A new one?! Already?! Yay!
Whoever edits Safiya’s videos can never quit. It’s so satisfying to watch and her narration is so perfect!!
I am obsessed with the host Erni! She seems like the sweetest, most genuine person! The way she explains & demonstrates everything so clearly & interacts with the guests is top tier! I would go soley to hang out with her & hear her cute little voice 😅❤
Kid Pix "oh no!" gave me such flash backs. 🤯😵
I love how she's called Ernie like Sesame Street! It's on par with making colorful yarn rugs!
I love Erni with all my heart and soul
I hope to see more things like that in the future
no way! i'm literally going to chicago this weekend, i definitely want to go do this with my boyfriend!
6:26 admiring how Erni drew the stars.... way better than any of my attempts😭
Ten million subscribers! Love you Safi! Congrats❤
