HELLO and welcome to this video! What do you guys think about the ~smooth pb&j sandwich~? Personally, I think the curb appeal of this bad boy was unbeatable, but it did taste kinda strange. What item should we smoothify next?
please let me know if there is anyone else out there who does the "completely open tall jug" milk carton method or if its just this madman i am married to
Yes the best way to drink a small carton of milk is to open the carton completely. I did this as a child and was made fun of but then I convinced my 3rd grade class that it’s optimal for chugging. The lunch ladies were confused why one day the cartons were normal the next day fully open cartons everywhere.
As a former kindergarten aide I laughed at the milk carton discussion. I was the one who opened 70 milk cartons a day because none of them had the dexterity to do it themselves until the end of the year. Can confirm there were several kids that practiced the open jug method. 😂
'If you can turn a piece of coal in peanut butter into a crystal maybe you can turn something into gold' has the same energy as Jenna Marbles saying 'you're telling me we can put a man on the moon but I can't grow 7 inches in a year??'
I love that she shows everything, like when she was making dragon's beard candy and kept failing and starting over until she got it right. Sometimes knowing what not to do is just as helpful as seeing it done perfectly. I hope this video gets her some more subscriptions too.
@@jenniferburroughs7509 YES!!! It also shows that even the experienced cooks can fail time and time again, but you will succeed in the end. Oftentimes social media just shows the polished version, and then when you try it yourself it just turns to shit lol. It's good to know that's not your fault. Emmy is such a feel-good creator, I love her channel.
Carly, Safiya, and Tyler just saved me possible salmonella poisoning as I was actually craving a pb and j sandwich but they said Jiff was recalled so I checked mine and it is part of the recalled group! Thank you!
I would soak the milk in bread to flavor the milk, then strain it, and then gellify it! Such a fun concept, but I think my kids would label this snack “cursed.” Lol
That's a very interesting idea! I was thinking long and hard about whether the jelly and bread aspects could be improved on but I came up blank for the bread. For the jelly though, I feel like making a concentrate from the grape juice first could definitely be the move if the jelly flavor was a little weak like they said.
@@Jabberwocky7890 I feel like you could just go full grape juice, without the water. Sure, the sugar content might change the consistency a bit, but the taste would be a million times better.
@@thespankmyfrank for sure, and Safiya and Tyler also noted that the peanut butter layer had a little bit of an unexpected consistency to it, but that it was their favorite part, so letting some good flavor compromise the purist idea of a fully gelatinous dish may not be so bad in this case. It may not turn out as pure blob-like in texture as say the rain drop cake, but I think it could taste better
I wonder if you could soak the bread in milk, blend it into a puree, and then mix the bread and the bread milk in with the agar agar to really get that bread flavor. Kind of tempted to try it, but I'm too broke for any of the ingredients
NileRed is the closest thing the internet has to an alchemist, really. But to do a NileRed recipe you'd need a chemist and a lab. What a collab that'd be.
So many shoutouts to Emmy, that’s so awesome of you! So many people will maybe make one reference to someone who inspired them and leave it at that but you’re really giving her the recognition she deserves.
@@LunaLoveBad6969 there is also chicken in a can! While the chicken in the can looked awful, the same episode also had bread in a can which looked mighty tasty to me.
I love the dynamic they have here vs most of the content on safiya's channel. I like seeing Tyler take charge and mastermind the plan and I like seeing Safiya just awkwarding it out on the side (I say affectionately as someone who is also awkward on the sidelines most of the time). It's not like they're totally different people but it's a fun little subversion
In addition to Tyler being more in the driver's seat, Carly appears to be the only producer with a hand on the wheel and they all seem to pretty much let Saf run free with whatever weirdness she wants to do, unlike the much more polished and heavily produced main channel videos. Livestream vibes (which, by the way, are they going to start streaming again?) You can tell Saf is a lot more relaxed just by the more random funny shit that comes out of her mouth, and her occasional swearing (which she never does on the main channel) that for some reason makes me inexplicably giddy lol.
If you guys liked the texture and look of this, it’s basically pb&j version of coffee/coconut jelly which is really popular in asian countries. If you do the same steps bur with coffee and condensed milk flavorings it would be soooo good
This!! It'd be so fun to see Saf attempt to make those 3D flower agar jellies. Key word attempt because it looks super hard and I'd never do it myself lol
Yes this! But they would need to either be more deliberate with the ratios of their ingredients, or just follow an authentic recipe for xingren doufu or rau cau dua. I think the biggest issue with the recipe they used here is it didn't adequately account for dilution and so all the flavors were mega watered down. Like think of the jelly layer...5 tbsp of juice into 8 oz of water? Of course it's going to taste like watery grape juice, and not even remotely like actual jelly.
I mean it's totally on brand for them though. "Doing cool trends...years after they were trendy", Saf said something like that on one of the old acrylic art or soap or candle videos.
Emmy made is such a chaotic and somehow organized and wholesome creator. She’s like a blend of likable contradictions. He always teach me something new about cooking. She’s a G youtuber

If you guys wanted to try doing a more taste-focused version, it would be interesting to see if bread sauce mix (very common in the UK but I'm sure you can get it in the US, it's basically premade mix for actual 'liquid bread' as Safiya described) in the bread segments and a grape juice reduction for the grape segments could work. Great video!

This is an Emmy video that has stayed so vivid in my mind, so interesting to see someone else take a crack at it! Good job! I’m new to your channels and have been watching a ton of videos this past week (I am chronically ill/disabled/bed bound) and I love all the shoutouts to Gilmore Girls!
My mom would measure out pudding mix so I would drink half the carton, add the mix and close the carton to mix. Yep. Opened the carton up box style. By the time t finished my sandwich, I had pudding ready.
I kept seeing images of this floating around the internet and was always so curious as to what it tasted like! Great video! Really want some PB&J now...
I know this is insanely random, but the smooth Spanish guitar music playing while you guys are making and pouring the peanut butter layer sounds *exactly* like the melody of the 90's X-Men cartoon theme song. 😂
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hears it! I would love to know where the editing team found it because I kind of want to get this version to listen to myself. It's both nerdy and classy at the same time. 😁
the easiest way to demold the thingy is to sit the whole container in some hot water for a couple of seconds. then flip and it'll just pop right out. also between layers poke it gently with a fork before pouring the next layer, that ensures your stack doesn't come apart!
SO COOL! On the topic of the milk carton, there were these bags of milk from the 80's and 90's that laid flat on the table, you stabbed it with your straw and drank. Just thought I'd mention. Anyway, thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos Safiya and Tyler!

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! Can’t wait for the live streams to return!!
i absolutely despise jelly and will either opt for jam, or just go without entirely, so this version is literal hell to me.
This feels extremely cursed, I fear
I love when my favorite TH-cam people also watch my other favorite TH-cam people!
I feel like Saf could use that to apply makeup 😂
Awe, yay! I love Emmy. I'm so glad to see her featured here.
I remember in kindergarten always seriously judging the kids who fully opened the carton 😂
I wonder if you could have used milk and grape juice instead of water for their respective layers for a less watered down flavor.
Alchemy is the precursor to chemistry. Without Alchemy, we wouldn't have chemistry.
I know this is insanely random, but the smooth Spanish guitar music playing while you guys are making and pouring the peanut butter layer sounds *exactly* like the melody of the 90's X-Men cartoon theme song. 😂
Dude yes that is 100% the X-Men animated theme 😄
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hears it! I would love to know where the editing team found it because I kind of want to get this version to listen to myself. It's both nerdy and classy at the same time. 😁
I've always wondered why Emmy didn't use strained steeped bread in a little milk for the bread layer.... sounds better than just milk!
Wonder bread would probably become one with the milk rather easily.
the easiest way to demold the thingy is to sit the whole container in some hot water for a couple of seconds. then flip and it'll just pop right out.
also between layers poke it gently with a fork before pouring the next layer, that ensures your stack doesn't come apart!
This feels illegal
SO COOL! On the topic of the milk carton, there were these bags of milk from the 80's and 90's that laid flat on the table, you stabbed it with your straw and drank. Just thought I'd mention. Anyway, thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos Safiya and Tyler!
still love that crusty is in the intro
Safiya would not have married someone who opened a milk carton correctly, it wouldn't have worked
As a German, substituting bread with milk feels like blasphemy
Yessss Emmymade !! I think about this sandwich all the time, I’m glad you guys tried it !
I miss when you guys used to go live😭
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Tyler’s square opening milk carton thing! Surprised me good haha
