There was still 12 more updates after this video, with Outlaw being the latest released just a week ago, which let's you be an actual space pirate now. Also, the 18 quintillion planets thing isn't a lie lol, there's actually that many planets. The planets that are actually real life planet sized too, not scaled down planets, it would take you months to try to walk around a single planet, if not longer.
No, they're still scaled down somewhat to fit the casual fantasy vibe of the game. They're still big enough to not feel small unlike the planets in Spore
Yeah no that's just an actual lie. A player by the name TheyCallMeConnor recorded themselves walking across a planet and it only took them 12 hours in a vid titled Across The Map #46 No Man Sky. Walking across Texas would take you several dozen times that.
For the bit about the "orbiting around the sun" bit being reported as a bug. I'll admit I had a hard time believing this, but then I played an open world-ish game that actually did feature real-time orbits, and I instantly understood. The game is still far from perfect, plenty of rough edges and systems that could definitely be improved upon, but for the most part, its a pretty good game now, and the constant, literally every couple months free content updates just keep adding cool stuff, whether its things that were promised a long time ago or completely brand new things. I think most of all, hello games has just proven themselves to be one of the most dedicated and sincere studios out there, a far cry from the communities perception of them that first year after release. Just seeing their commitment to making the game as great as everyone imagined it could be makes you wanna root for them. Just the other day they finally made good on that promise that you could be a space pirate. Once again, the games still not perfect. As much as i love it and respect hello games id still only give it a 7.5/10, but its only getting better, and is absolutely worth giving a shot.
I think an improvement I would like to see is getting more in depth with the animals because really the only kinda danger in the game is robots and maybe running out of resources
It's great, however I wish it'd have an update where it focused on sea generation and give us whole ocean planets with 100k km deep oceans, or just generally deep oceans on regular planets.
The fact they're still updating the game to this day shows how much they truly care about the game. They may have fucked up the launched, but they've totally redeemed themselves.
54:45 Yeah, Hello Games really took a step back, did actual problem solving and pulled a Rockstar, as in pumping out free content updates to a game you once paid, keeping on developing the game without making a single dime (they could have gone the DLC route, but they're so sorry for their fuck up on release they just gift the content to gamers). I can admire that. I agree, The dude's obviously an introvert nerd - not a salesman, but a great technician. So he learned from the mistake and rehabilitated himself in my book. They could have taken the money and ran (like the dudes who promised "Identity"), but they fixed the pile of garbage and delivered a product at the end of the day. Like you said in the beginning - kudos for that! The documentary on the "Identy" scam I would recommend you too. Shows how "Option 1" plays out...
That fan fiction was another kind of wyld.... BUT the point the Internet Historian wanted to make there, I'd think, was that the mentioned features (VR support, multiplayer) and such things turned out to be delivered later down the line. At the time of writing, that fan fic was a wicked sexual fantasy, but it DID predict correctly that No Man's Sky would turn out to be what it originally promised to be, and more.
The difference is that CD Project is basically the pride of Poland and the government doesn't want them to fall or give negative rep. That and they are still very spirited developers who want to do a ton of cool stuff. Not many game developers would just walk up to Studio Trigger's Imaishi and ask him to create an anime out of their videogame. You gotta respect that.
Cyberpunk can get a lot of fixes and become a good game, but the core of the game still can't be fixed. It will still be linear, story-driven game with bleak, forgettable protagonist completely overshadowed by his own hallucination. NMS case is easier on that part - while scope is big, game was always meant to be a sandbox. So you can pour more and more sand in it, just have to check the sand for helminth infestation beforehand.
We got the first part of a multi-part update in July 2024. I can't believe we're still getting massive updates like this for free. We forgive you Sean.
21:00 actually if they started everyone in all the possible universes. It might genuinely be relatively impossible to ever run into someone. Even with every player starting in the same universe(out of 255) i encountered only one single player in the wild over 300 hours of gameplay. Most of this being done in recent times around the newest patch, so pretty high concurrent players as well.
As I'm watching your reaction, it is August 2024, and Hello Games is still dropping massive updates and just recently completed Part 1 of an overhaul. I pre-ordered the game back then and was disappointed, like a lot of people. But this is the only game I witnessed that pulled itself together after a massive flop and climbed to the top. It's still one of my favorite games.
Burnout 3: Takedown was one of the best evening activities for our family. We usually sit together with my 2 sisters, 2 brothers and our parents and see who gets most Takedowns lol Murray did an awesome job there.

tbf Internet Historian just did something very similar to what Journalists do right here, the voice over he plays would have you believe that the press confirmed "full customization" yet the article he shows never says full customization has been confirmed by Sean Murray. It says "customization-like aspects", and giving Sean Murrays reply to the question of whether any customization will be involved in the game I don't really see how the article he showed is misleading, especially considering the fact that the voice over is rather misleading as to what he is actually showing on the screen.

I really love the proposals written on the board (in the first 5 minutes) in the meeting room on that stock image. xD That's a nice detail the videomaker did there... "A Dating Sim game, but multiplayer Domestic Violence Simulator 2011 Dark Souls, but really easy All-Woman Battlefield 1942 Animal Cross-Dressing The Second to Last of Us Plants vs. Plants WoW Singleplayer" Those are some of the favorites of mine I picked up. xD I'd buy and play All-Woman Battlefield or WoW Singleplayer - honestly. xD
Anthem was a great concept that was so horribly executed. The suits and flying was actually really fun, but that’s basically all there was, everything else was shit and there was no substance. If they had actually come up with a fun gameplay loops, decent story and well executed content it would have been a big hit. But they fumbled so hard, I was hoping another dev team or something would pick it up and actually turn it into a fun game, but EA kills just about everything it touches. The flying was so fun, it sucks how the rest of the game was handled.

Just the other day they finally made good on that promise that you could be a space pirate. Once again, the games still not perfect. As much as i love it and respect hello games id still only give it a 7.5/10, but its only getting better, and is absolutely worth giving a shot.
It's gonna reach 100/10 at some point
I think an improvement I would like to see is getting more in depth with the animals because really the only kinda danger in the game is robots and maybe running out of resources
It just had another patch its doing fine for now
It's great, however I wish it'd have an update where it focused on sea generation and give us whole ocean planets with 100k km deep oceans, or just generally deep oceans on regular planets.
It's funny he thought 18 quintilion planets is bs when it's the only thing that's accurate
your reaction at the end of the fanfiction had me dying
41:24 that's the body language of us introverts, now you know
Wonder how many people know that the "Is math related to science" was an actual question asked by Katy Perry to Neil deGrasse Tyson
it is true! the game is 5 years old and I am still finding planets that no one has discovered yet!
In case that wasn't apparent,I meant GTA V. Released in 2013 I think it was, still free content updates and additional gameplay 10 years later.
For those curious, the last big update was August 26, 2023 (about two weeks after this comment). They definitely earned their respect
We forgive you Sean.
its genuinely one of if not the largest game of its type ever created.. and its optimized iinsanely..
One thing is i understand, they SHOULD tell Sony that they need 5 years to make this game maybe not become problem.
And the updates just keep coming!
Todd Howard wishes he was Sean Murray
Best Redemption Arc in Anime history
Burnout 3: Takedown was one of the best evening activities for our family. We usually sit together with my 2 sisters, 2 brothers and our parents and see who gets most Takedowns lol Murray did an awesome job there.
Describing the man's *bone structure* is what did it for me. Like, what?
The game really had 18 quintillion planets at launch.
Game's not exactly my cup of tea but I can't help but admire them for fixing their fuck up. No bullshit apologies and running from the dumpster fire. They just put their heads down and silently got to work.
7:40 oh no no no.
They absolutely could deliver the scale. Its just that they didnt fill those planets with anything good.
I discovered this game after the crash. Loved every second of it. Just play it. You'll love it.
Rewatching some videos and i noticed that xcom 2 sold more on that list i alwayys thought it was a niche category/community because no one ever knows its name :')
Still play it since release from time to time
I could swear you already reacted to this!
is this a repost?
Nope. Unless you watched me stream on twitch. This was part of it.
What a redemption arc
tbf Internet Historian just did something very similar to what Journalists do right here, the voice over he plays would have you believe that the press confirmed "full customization" yet the article he shows never says full customization has been confirmed by Sean Murray. It says "customization-like aspects", and giving Sean Murrays reply to the question of whether any customization will be involved in the game I don't really see how the article he showed is misleading, especially considering the fact that the voice over is rather misleading as to what he is actually showing on the screen.
I've seen about maybe ten different channels react to this vid and every time they get to the end I always feel so uncomfortable. XD No matter how hard I try I always feel uncomfortable listening to Internet Historian read out that erotic fanfic.
hey man, i've got a recomendation that is a bit simular to this one: "Star Citizen - Any Day Now™" by Whitelist.
One of my favorite youtube video's of this kind..
18 quint planets was what they got after running the numbers mate, thats reality, and it was reality at release too.
How tf does someone leak a game? Do you need connections with the actual game developers? Or just hack
Some store owners who get the copies take one for themselves or let their employees take some.
@@Xer405 oh they get early copies? How early do they get it compared to people?
@@Dr.HooWho week or 2
Know someone who works at a distribution warehouse or Game store that received copies early or don't mind getting fired.
Oh man, if you like underdog stories in gaming, you should react to the FF14 1.0 documentary.
Good news, Chill Zone! Square Enix sold Eidos Montreal, the company that worked on Deus Ex's prequels, to somebody else! Now Eidos might actually bring us another Deus Ex!
I really love the proposals written on the board (in the first 5 minutes) in the meeting room on that stock image. xD
That's a nice detail the videomaker did there...
"A Dating Sim game, but multiplayer
Domestic Violence Simulator 2011
Dark Souls, but really easy
All-Woman Battlefield 1942
Animal Cross-Dressing
The Second to Last of Us
Plants vs. Plants
WoW Singleplayer"
Those are some of the favorites of mine I picked up. xD
I'd buy and play All-Woman Battlefield or WoW Singleplayer - honestly.
The flying was so fun, it sucks how the rest of the game was handled.
i still find it bs that planets dont spin anymore because player complained
Its hard to know where you are when your land marks are moving.
@@alexthering6615 then don't play an space game, planets are supposed to move.
@@stefthorman8548 I am a stickler for "Realism" but i think removing a part of your game that just annoyed or confused people was a better choice than keeping it.
I really hope someone picks up the Anthem IP one day. I fucking LOVED that game.
Hello Games went from being 2nd worst after EA in my sight, granted theres a chasm a galaxy wide between the two but i digress, and now it is one of my top 3 if not my favorite
2 minutes and and you summed up the entire rest of the video lmao.

"NOPE - NOTHING TO SEE HERE! ANYONE WANNA WATCH A FALLOUT76 LETSPLAY WITH ME!? HOW ABOUT THAT WEATHER!? AWFULLY WEATHERY, ISN'T IT!?!?!?!?" ~ Sean Murray when asked about the last several minutes of Internet Historian's NMS video, probably
What game was he playing at the start of the video there?
23:55 i'd compare it to bf 2042 myself, but yes, pretty much
Sean Murray and his team took an example from Egosoft, clearly. First a somewhat mediocre game, but after 10 patches, it's the shit
Achilles, hmmmm?? Disappointeeeed!
I'd you liked this video about No Man's Sky then you should try *"An Actual Review of No Man's Sky"* by *Shammy*
53:50 you really should try it out. Just be warned, the tutorial is quite long. But the game is amazing now.
...kinda want the game now
And then cdpr pulled an anthem instead of pulling a no man's sky
I preordered the game and had no problems in terms of glitches at launch. I think it crashed once or twice though.
Fallout 76 team was inspired by No Man's Sky release and copied them, and even exceeded them in terms of brokeness .
base game 40 maybe expectations 200 end result overly hyped and backlash galore
14:56 you laugh but pornhub has actually been used for that stuff before. When stuff gets mass strikes on other platforms they end up on pornhub.
Ooh, what game were you playing at the start of the video?
The Ascent
@@TheChillzoneX Cool, thankyou.
Cyberpunk and GTA Trilogy being the latest hit garbage but one of those has improved
27:42 That's dishonest with Sean. If you go see the whole video, after the man ask him about the reason he to be showing that same place again, he said that and after that he goes to other planet to show and the other planet is kinda beautiful, but desert. Despite of the fact of me having find very funny the "bad murray" thing, it shows people that haven't seen the whole video that that was a lie from Sean, and it was not
😂😂😂 I remember this God damn game man. Everything got soooo repetitive + the empty promises…
But I heard they made up for it.
Looking at the comments, it appears they have added 10-12 MORE DLC's since the Internet Historian video came out. And Every. Single. DLC. is free btw. Jesus christ.
This didn't age well, they delivered on a lot of the promises
when trying to woosh people, maybe don't give the game away with your name
@@BeefMeisterSupreme Most people still fall for it
Yay!
FINALLY 🤣
He hasn't learned a thing, he is still hyped up his next project, I'm not exactly sure what he said but it sounds like it's bigger than this game.
@@josegordo488 that's how marketing works for games, look at Cyberpunk before and after release and still today, so many promised stuff but not all of it is still in the game now.
@@josegordo488 only time will tell...
in the first 2k to see the video and 237 like
First ig
if the game costs 100 I expect it to be 100 days long to complete.
so no man's sky added all of promises and more or are there still things not in the game?
There's some things that aren't present but in some ways the game now is better than what was originally promised
Oh, trust me, there have been many updates to the game since this video, all updates (dlc size) ALL. FOR. FREE. WITH. BASE. GAME. PURCHAUSE!!!!!!!
