It lost to Genshin Impact due to some controversy of the Sonic Fandom kicking the hornets' nest and getting the Genshin community to vote against it. I remember when i was 13 and the darknight came out in theaters. Even then i thought how many times are they going to reboot the same movies and that there were to many superhero movies. It took forever but im realizing the same thing with games.

#SubtoGundam To not waste your time with the Sonic/Genshin thing, basically the Players Voice award is the only not rigged one at the Game Awards, and Sonic fans who really liked the new Sonic game and the direction the series was heading in, advocated to vote for it to win to show the developers that they like the change. Genshin Impact fans also advocated to vote but only because they were under the impression that they were going to be rewarded if the award won. Then when award night happened, genshin won and barely got any prize for winning while Sonic’s lead developer on twitter thanked everyone for the support for the game. The end, no video needed unless you want to.
The cringiest part was just how many awards God of War got, while actual bangers like Sonic Frontiers, Bayonetta 3, and Xenoblade got shafted. GoW getting so much recognition when its only slightly more of a video game than fucking Night Trap makes me lose faith in the gaming industry.

Actually Sonic Frontiers was nominated for Player's Choice. It lost to Genshin Impact due to some controversy of the Sonic Fandom kicking the hornets' nest and getting the Genshin community to vote against it. (As a Sonic fan I say "Dammit toxic side of the Sonic fandom, we could've had this, but you just didn't want to play nice!" and I apologize on their behalf, not all of us Sonic fans are like this...)

@@osets2117 as someone who barely played fromsoft games, just got into elden ring recently and dumped about 300 hours into it, and has been anticipating gowr since 2018 (played 2018 4 times and fucking praised it to no end), elden ring honestly deserved the award. Ragnarok was everything I had hoped for and more, and still, elden ring deserved it 100%. These people are literally insane.

The fact that people expected a game that holds your hand and solves puzzles for you was a contender for Game of the Year says everything you need to know about them and who they worship.
Elden Ring was a front loaded, overrated and under delivering mess that gets a pass because fromsoft made Dark Souls once upon a time.

I remember when i was 13 and the darknight came out in theaters. Even then i thought how many times are they going to reboot the same movies and that there were to many superhero movies. It took forever but im realizing the same thing with games.
Truth be told, that's been happening with games since the beginning of them. It's just that back then there were a lot more 'major' releases then now so while a lot was rehashed, there were so many more franchises to pick from.
When every FPS was coming out with a third title is when I stopped buying games.

Genshin Impact fans also advocated to vote but only because they were under the impression that they were going to be rewarded if the award won. Then when award night happened, genshin won and barely got any prize for winning while Sonic’s lead developer on twitter thanked everyone for the support for the game. The end, no video needed unless you want to.

It's a long time favorite of mine, they don't make them like that anymore, for sure. Just the right levels of camp and serious, with solid sci-fi world building and a premise so intuitive it seems like it could be real.
Brad Wright had a pilot he sent to Amazon, so maybe he'll be in charge if they do make one. If not, I can see new Stargate easily turning out like the Halo series: overly serious, pretentious drama for the sake of filling screen time, rewriting lore just because they can and deeming us bigots for disagreeing with the changes.
But at least we'll always have SG-1. I'm in season 7 right now, once that's done I'll be watching Atlantis concurrently, just like it aired. Shal'kek nem'ron!
