Hey Mike, you always mention your goal is just to get people to grow their own food. Well thank you. Your bucket method was the very first thing I used to plant some store-bought plants and sustain them! After that I moved on to traditional planting but I've already tasted peppers, tomatoes, and herbs from my very own garden praise God! 🙌
Shabbat Shalom! I'm brand new to your channel. I have not heard of hydroponics done like this before, but as soon as the Master blend gets here, I'm going to start. Until I found you even my micogreens failed. I need to do my plants outdoors and am concerned I'm starting too late for zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers and even the lettuce (too hot) for that matter. I LOVE your ideas, they not only allow me to consider winter growing in this drafty tiny home, but they help me to be creative. I desire to help many too and your ideas and videos will help me to do that! I've joined a few other channels in the past few days, and they look wonderful, but a bit out of my budget. Please don't stop utube, we need you here. Many who haven't even seen you yet. You are a breath of fresh, positive air. I for one don't use social media's. May Yahuah bless all that you do mightily and allow you to "reap what you've sown". His words carry more power than mine! Its not just me that you will reap helping, but you will reap blessings from all who I help as well!! Your gift keeps on giving! Thank you!!
I have a few tomatoes from the dwarf tomato project growing kratky style in 5 gallon buckets. They are doing awesome. I just picked my first one (Jeremy's Stripes), but haven't tried it yet since I want to see if they ripen more on the counter. If you're doing tomatoes Kratky style, look into the dwarf tomato project. They have a lot of cool varieties you see with heirlooms (big beefsteaks, various colored or multi colored tomatoes, etc) but in a small plant you can grow in a few gallons.
Thanks Mike! Growing from the greater Phoenix area, temps have reached 102 I think and although tomoato is growing a tad bit slow, it doesn't show any heat stress and has fruit developing on it at about 40 days in. It's getting hotter here so I hope to keep you posted for those folks growing in low desert areas that reach high temps. I'm growing in a blue Lowe's bucket.
I've just got my tiny seedlings put into black painted containers, so excited to get where you are right now. If course they're awesome lolol. Thank you for teaching.
Squash, like cucumbers, have the bumps on them naturally. Some varieties are smooth and others are bumpy. It's just the way it is. Perfection only exists in grocery stores.
If I compare my cherry tomato plants, of the same variety: one growing in hydroponics and the other growing in soil in a pot of 20x20cm, I notice a big difference. Those in hydroponics contain more water and when I test the BRIX, the tomatoes in pot have 2 points more than those in hydroponics. On the other hand, I notice that the tomato plants are bigger and more productive in Hydroponics.
Hi Mike! We love your video course from Etsy and between your channel here and that, all miracles! So much food already started and looking just so pretty and lush. Very grateful for your generous and kindly expertise. Enjoy dirt growing but in our yard it is laborious, expensive, and we’ve never been able to go camping for a few days during growing seasons where we live. Thank you, truly generous of you to teach this in such an honest and reasonable way. Such priceless info. 🖖
I planted several determinant and indeterminate cheery tomatoes. They just started to fruit. Thanks so much for teaching us how to grow our own food. I love it
Thank you for mentioning that green tomatoes are a good alternative for histamine-intolerant diets!!! Also, what is your fertilizing schedule for hydro from seed to harvest?
I am in a tiny apartment with a wide western exposure window. I can't afford many grow lights. What videos would you recommend for me to watch, and which plants to grow?
Indoors you will need LED lights, at least in spring, fall and winter. I recommend plants that do not need so much light in the first place e.g. lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, kale, pak choi, radishes (Saxa 2) or herbs. If you want to cultivate tomatoes choose micro dwarf varieties (like e.g. Tiny Tim), they stay small and need less light than the big varieties. For more tips about indoor hydroponics i recommend the channel „Aerogarden Experiments“.
Mike, your helping other people to do what you're doing is a true blessing.

Awesome! Thank you for sharing that with me. It does my heart good to know people are using this to help them. Have a fantastic week and thanks again.

Got great taste in my opinion for Tomatoes if they are allowed to ripen red! I grew some Hydro Strawberries and they were yummy

Just wondering because these were from the same pack.

Thank you so much Sera! This made my day! This is the kind of stuff that keeps me going when the going gets tough. Much more to come.
They look good Mike. Thanks.

My parsley and coriandre taste the same, green. What am I doing wrong? Using Master Blend tomato. Thank you so much for all you do Mike 🍀
Thank you! Don't know, my cilantro taste like soap.
Great stuff Mike. Thanks

Hello, great Work thanks for Tips but I have one question: you change water in the container every day?
Thank you. I never change the water.
Mike, being that I’m from the south and love okra, so can okra be grown in hydroponics.
🤓🧡👍🏽
