Yeah, I witnessed his whole career including college. Kinda difficult for me to warm up to Michael because Magic and Larry were my guys, and Michael posed a threat to their dominance. However I'm glad it didn't get in the way of wanting to watch big games Michael was a part of.
nobody played more majestically than Jordan. nobody dunked better, nobody was more fun to watch. GOAT no contest no competition no one better that Jordan
Agreed. Basketball is my first love and started watching in the late 80s. Ive seen Magic, Bird, Shaq, Duncan, Kobe, Lebron, and all the current great players, but none seem to have mastered the game quite like MJ did. Fundamentals, athleticism, competitiveness, and killer instinct...MJ was the best of the best. Theres a reason they still talk about him and compare the current greats to him despite being retired for over 2 decades.
Players back then: Michael Jordan "The game is only played 2-3 hours a day, it's one of the easiest jobs I've ever had" Shaq: "When you’re living in a world where 40 million people have been laid off and I’m making $200 million, you won’t get no complaining from me. I’d play back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back" Charles Barkley: "you'd think players should play 82 games now because of the access to better training, recovery, and sports science" Players today: LeBron "why are we flying all the way to Milwaukee for a pre-season game?" Embiid "I don't think I'm ever playing back to backs again" Draymond - ppl dont know what it's like to play back to backs, or 3 games in 4 nights, and dont know what it's like to have a hectic travel schedule, and people take days off from their jobs anyway, so shut up. Okay Draymond do you know whats its like working 40, 50, 60 plus hours a week, travelling by car, bus, or train (not a fancy private jet), and only having a certain amount of sick days (that some companies won't even pay time for)? While making 50k a year, not 25.8 million like you do?
1:26 “It’s only 2-3 hours out of a day, that’s one of the easiest jobs I’ve ever had” Funny how now nba players complain that working for 3 hours a day 82 days a year is now way too much and they think they should only have to play 60 times.
Remember, TODAY'S athletes are better, faster, stronger hahahahahah they complain when the sports medicine is better today than it was back then. Also, they get paid more now, lol.
@@leobreed9563 Soooo true. Today's players love social media instead and post anything and everything about themselves. I want to know who really loves the game these days if they got paid less, lol.
This was more of the standard back then, he came up in the 60s and 70s in the country. He also went to UNC chapel hill, from Dean Smith to his parents who were involved in his life throughout college and the pros. Ties, being well spoken, polite..
Pure basketball player. This was after he won gold before even playing a game in the NBA. People don’t understand how hard it is to 3 peat. Injuries, egos, fatigue … so many things come into play.
Yeah people don't understand how physically and especially mentally exhausting it is to 3peat. Jordan rarely missed a game either and played hard on both ends pretty much every game
Still a little bit shy, still a little twang in his voice, had to warm up a little bit before addressing the camera directly. What a great look back in time!
Wow....BIG difference in this video compared to his championship years. He actually walked through the airport without a legion of people swarming him. Now its....." NO"
would rather watch a cuff dunk than a set shot three..... so much athleticism back then . fans even watched pre games to see their dunks... today the players are on their phones.
This is the reality why most people's in the world more excited to see and watch M.j play? This era's can't imagined how the videos and decade's shows more than enough brings excitement to WATCH than this era's of NBA?Simply because this era mostly relying upon their shooting skills but LESS the COMPETITIVENESS?Less than an efforts amongs't other skills to PROVE or PROVING?In short "BOOOORIIIINNNGGG...."?
Wow, 5 years before Jordan won a championship and before he ever played in Dallas they did a “countdown” until he comes to town. That’s serious attention and detail to just a rookie.
Great great footage - thanx a lot!!!!😃😃Makes me also think about the time when THE Bulls wasn't born yet.. and the always exciting Michael Jordan had a long long way to struggle and to finally overcome the Celtics and the Bad Boys - to create the Dynasty of the BULLS as we know them today
This has got to be the BEST vintage video I've ever seen of Michael Jordan because you see him in almost every setting (including flying commercial and walking around amongst the general public in a Dallas airport!!) during the very early stages of the megastardom that he would soon achieve. We've got to credit Dale Hansen for coming up with the 'Countdown' segment to hype up Jordan coming to Dallas to play the Mavericks!! Once he saw how elite Jordan was as a rookie, he knew he had to capitalize on it!! LOL My only issue with this segment is, why didn't they interview Jordan's college teammate Sam Perkins?? He was a rookie on Dallas and dominated with Jordan at North Carolina during the previous 3 years. He was also on the 1984 Olympic team with Jordan. Even though Perkins saw how great Jordan was up close at North Carolina, he had to be surprised with how dominant Jordan was as a rookie.
I love the NBA back then. Players are well mannered, speak well. These days, the NBA isn't worth watching and I don't even want to introduce it to my kids.
I want to put in a request haha, Bulls @ Heat January 19, 1989. There’s a picture of MJ dunking on a player after he took off from the baseline… I can’t find the photo online but it’s in a video by Morlich209 titled “Michael Jordan highest jumps” and is at the 5:08 mark… I gotta see either more images or the film of this game… it’s sad that we are missing a lot of those 80’s games.. I just cannot find any more images or videos of this dunk anywhere online :( - hopefully the date is correct.
It's like history is repeating itself with Catlin Clark...the hype, sellouts, opposing players speaking about the hype, and people expecting a lot of points but getting a lot of assists!
