The 7nis my first Trek MTB and I LOVE IT!
I converted it to a gravel bike by putting a modified road bike front crank and sprocket on it.
*Moved inside sprocket to the outside and the outside sprocket on top of that to give space for the frame.
It hauls a** now and feels like you're floating even on the roughest of roads and trails.
Even over large bumps, tree roots and train tracks.
    It's floats over everything.

I also put road bike downturn handle bars because I like them better.

The frame really has that dirt jumper geometry.

Just picked up a Marlin 7 gen 2 for £500 new. Thunk I did pretty good tbh, it's my first mountain bike.

Just purchased this bike which is my first bike in 20+ years 😂. Can a shock lockout remote be fitted to these shocks?

The steeper head angle on the 2022 Gen 2 should allow the bike to turn tighter corners better. They really relaxed it for the Gen3, which should be more stable for rough downhills.

@Talalipop would you consider this bike great value if you can get it at the price of the marlin 6 gen 3 2023 ?
there’s a shop in my country that offers this at that price. I’ve been thinking about getting a marlin 6 for quite sometime now until I saw that good deal for a marlin 7

Great. Bought a 7 and now there is an upgraded cheaper one. Thanks for the info.
But actually I'm glad for my 720mm bars -- there are trees I can barely get by now.

Yeah I've heard a few people mention that they just bought the old gen. And yeah bars are definitely getting pretty wide these days! At least we can cut them down though

I have a gen 1 (2019) Marlin 7 and since I'm looking at couple of wheel rebuilds I'm consider getting this Marlin 7. Ideally I'd be looking at the Roscoe 7 but I think that my skills aren't quite to that level. I think that the RS fork and Shimano brakes make it more desirable than the Marlin 6. The Kovee TR rims on the 6,7, and 8 is also a great upgrade over the old Connection rims. As for weight, at this price point you can't really justify counting grams and ounces.

Sounds like a good option for an upgrade! I have the 2019 marlin 7 as well and it’s a great bike but the new one definitely is a big upgrade

Changing Schrader to presta not a good idea imo. Also how can the weight be over 1kg more? I don't understand

The coil judy is a no no. But the geometry seems much better now. Less xc and more trailish. Not many people who buy this bike are xc racers, so the geo change is a good job there

It is a bit funny because the bike shops i checked showed that they have Judy air and havn´t I seen your comment I would have bought it. But now I will probably reconsider. Thinking about the Marlin 8 or Rockhopper Elite/Expert.

I am buying this bike and despite everybody saying you can now fit a dropper we don’t see how as no pre drilled holes to do so.😮

TREK SHOULD HAVE‼️🤨STILL!! offered the “Radioactive Red / Marigold Color“ scheme for Gen 3 as well! A popular color in the series and it’s so stunning👏🏾🤣 Or at least a new Project One release Gradation color design for the Marlin 7 Gen 3 to attract more attention to the Marlin line up & threaten it’s competitors in the market ‼️ ✨🚵🏾‍♀️💨 (bottom line is “sales #s‼️” right?🤔)

No way is the frame 3lbs heavier. That is a lot of frame material and the only thing different is the chain stays at the bottom bracket, (Lower slung on the Gen 3).

$400 less than the Marlin 8 gen 3 but comes without a Dropper post and a air fork wow.

would it kill them to machine a 7mm wider hole for a $0.50 more expensive umrbanded generic thru axle hub, death to the thru skewer

Not worth an upgrade. Imo. Go with a Gen 3 M8 or a Roscoe 7/8.
