    Those are awesome colors! Perfect pour. You are right, looks like colorful flames. I have to say I love Energy! It has been my number 1 seller ever since Jen started selling it. I wait 2 days to unmold it, too. 😊. The scent stays true through cure, also.

    This is my first video of yours, thanks to TH-cam suggested videos. Nice to meet you. I loved the last minute-ness of this project, I'd be the same exact way!! Just a gorgeous product and definitely on point for an energy vibe.
    Question: two tablespoons of anything for that much liquid seems very small/inconsequential but clearly it can be an aide at those concentrations. But what I am wondering is what would happen if I were to add more colloidal oat powder, like 6 tablespoons for example?

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Welcome❣️ So glad you found me! You can absolutely add more of the powders, I add double the oats in my G.M., Oats and Honey bars. 6 tbls would still make a great oaty soap.

  • @Prncssdrake

    These are beautiful bars! If you work with a f.o. that you know will show down the batter, will you attempt to compensate by using a water discount? Is that idea ill advised?

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I do a very steep water discount.

    Hello! Is it OK if I ask you a question? How much colloidal oatmeal, Kaolin Clay & milk you add per your pound of oil? I'm sorry.. I'm not trying to get all your info, it's just that I'm trying to figure out why my soap always accelerates quickly. I add 1 tablespoon of oatmeal per lb of oil, 1 teaspoon per lb for sodium lactate as I was told to do. I only make soap for my family but it's a craft that I enjoy very much since it helps me relax from nursing school lol but I'm still trying to do it right

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I typically use about 1 tsp per lb of oils on both the oats and clay, sometimes I go a bit more... Here is a video where I share 4 slow moving recipes: th-cam.com/video/SO5n4uWEVO0/w-d-xo.html

    Hi ellen I have a question about the piping on top of the soap have you had any problems with it turning ashy? can it be fixed or prevented?

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can steam the tops or spritz with rubbing alcohol to brighten the tops up. I didn't have an issue..

  • @KingConcoctions
    @KingConcoctions 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am sure you know this, but I it's a fun fact I love sharing! Citrus oils, especially lemon and orange, are natural degreasers. That's why so many cleaning products from the big brands use them. Degreasers help remove oily residue, right? And soap is all oil. That's why they slow down trace so much when used as a fragrance.

    I take mine out after about 12 hrs. I’m inpatient and so I use a huge water discount. If I wait more then 15 hrs I’m snapping my wire on my cutter. However it’s rock hard after 3 weeks of cure time. I have a question, when u mix the lye in like u did here are u worried that it’s not mixed enough? Has that ever happened to u? I wanna try it but I’m to nervous to,lol! One batch of mine is a 7 pound batch so I’m so scared to destroy a whole batch. Has a soap ever not set up for u after doing that? I wanna do it I’m just to afraid to destroy a 7 pound batch of soap.

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I always mix to emulsion, so I’ve not had an issue with separation or not setting up💚

  • @kasie680

    I can’t unmould my soap for about 3-4 days, I’m considering adding more coconut so I can unmould sooner, it always cures nice and hard, it just wants to tear the sides of my soap, even with sodium lactate 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adding more hard oils or butters might help.

    I often hear you talking about covering the mold with a blanket, why is that?

    • @EllenRuthSoap

      I like to force gel phase in my soaps, so the blanket helps them get very warm while they are saponifying overnight.
