    Wait, is that admiral of the Republic an ancestor of Jan Dodonna of the Rebellion?

    As superweapons go, this is one of the best in the series. These and the World Devastators both provide strategic resources on par with their vulnerabilities and expense.

    1st: Engage the Republic as far from the Star Forge as possible and send reinforcements in consolidated waves.
    2nd: Stay with Bastila or near her at all times to ensure her loyalty.
    3rd: Only rely on the Battle Meditation as a last resort should the battle turn against the Sith as is possible with the assistance of the Jedi.
    4th: Lock the blasted doors on the Star Forge. Come on Malak, basic security here.
    As it stands, the Sith Empire under Malak had the Republic vastly outnumbered thanks to the strategies of Darth Revan early in the war. That advantage needed to be driven home as savagely as possible. While it makes sense to use every weapon (specifically the Battle Meditation of Bastila) at the same time and crush the Republic in one decisive battle, Bastila was only recently turned and therefore not truly reliable.

      If you do look at this comment I do have a video suggestion. You should do a colab with Daniel from Spacedock and one of you should posit a defense scenario that the other should try to break with a fleet that they build. You could put it on the Neutral Zone Chanel

    There's a couple things that always struck me as odd about this battle. The first is that depending on whether you're playing light or dark side, seems to change the number of republic ships vs sith ships. If you play dark side, it says that the sith are outgunned/outnumbered. If you play light side, the republic while taking losses and a star forge that keeps producing ships is still able to defeat a fleet composed of Mandalorian war vets (albeit they did have the support of battle meditation, but battle meditation isn't a guaranteed win). So its not really clear what the size of the fleets were.
    The second is that the idea of the star forge producing more ships. The star forge, as far as we know, doesn't produce droid star fighters. Nor do we know of the droids it produces manning/flying any of the ships. So it seems somewhat strange that apparently the star forge can keep increasing the odds in favour of Malek when all it can do is produce unmanned ships. Why does Malek, apparently, have a vast army of ship crew/pilots just sitting in the star forge?

    • @juanlaise1059
      @juanlaise1059 5 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      It does produce battle droids though. Revan even fights a room full of them.

    • @comandercarnis
      @comandercarnis 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      The battle meditation basically allowed a crack in the massed defenses of the Sith fleet which the republic capitalized on if they were being whittled down.
      In the dark side ending tho there's no crack in the defenses and Sith began pressing their attack before finally overwhelming the republic fleet through sheer numbers and firepower
      Also the factory produces droids and it's likely the ships are crewed by droids till the Sith get some human crew for them

    • @thelegateHQ
      @thelegateHQ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You've hit the issue I've always had with this battle. The Star Forge may be able to produce ships at an incredible speed but don't they require raw materials? How about crews? Surely, the Sith don't just have infinite quantities of those on hand.

    • @Kai-tn4yx
      @Kai-tn4yx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does produce star fighters as well, you see them flying upwards when you wander through the central halls of the facility. As for manning the ships, that is no problem - the Sith Empire covers thousands of planets with billions of people and more than enough (willing and unwilling) recruits.

      also the Empire already has beaten the Reapers without much difficulty. Im sure it would be almost the same with the yuuzhan vong

    • @catmani2
      @catmani2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      THe only advantage the Reapers would have over the vong as compared to the Empire is that the Reapers ships are protected against projectiles while not against energy based weapons. So they would have some protection against the Vong weapons. Regardless of that though, the sheer numbers of the Vong weapons, and the fact that their dovin basal's could simply "suck up" the Reapers weapons, it would indeed be a curb stomp.

    ;o;
    My precious Star Forge...
    Honestly I think the easiest path to defending the Star Forge would have been venting all hangars into space and filling them with combat Droids... and maybe sealing them off until the battle was over.
    Or just upgrade the space station to have a meaningful defense of its weak spots. That is, however, only partially in the path to protect the new pawn. I’d have kept her under heavy guard AND stayed close to keep her from turning. You can only dodge blasters in a lightsaber battle for so long...
    And my Star Forge would live! ÔwÔ

    Well since the majority, if not the entire Sith fleet are indicators, my best strategy it lays ships out along the hyperspace lane and pull portions of the Republic Fleet and attack with overwhelming firepower, rinse and then repeat. As the Sith could handle a prolonged battle and could use the tactic to weaken the fleet before they reach the system. Which if weak enough, just send the fleet to overwhelm the battered Republic fleet.

    If I had full control over her, I'd do exactly what the sith already did. They did nothing wrong except when they were betrayed.
    The only thing I'd do differently if Bas was at risk of turning, is to keep her guarded as heavily as possible. Mainly by sending as many sith as possible to defend her.

    • @Phoenix_254
      @Phoenix_254 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Malak kinda did that though. The waves of Sith sent against Revan. However I agree with you, I'd have, say, 10 of the strongest Sith guarding Bastilla and be able to join the fight within a minute of warning. The Sith were seriously competent in their tactics pre-betrayal.

    • @tomc.5704
      @tomc.5704 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Or even better, just lock her in a safe room with thick blast doors that would take an hour to cut through with a lightsaber.
      Even in the worst case scenario, where Revan knows about the room and brought someone who can hack a terminal, he'll still be delayed and every minute is precious.

      Where was Malek during the battle? Why didn't he take his apprentice ( Bastila) with him and go directly to Revan?

    • @Phoenix_254
      @Phoenix_254 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Not unreasonably. If we look at the films and EU, canon and legends, the outside battles outsides always seem to be influenced by the battle between the Sith and the Jedi. Luke and Vader in episode 6. Klyo and Rey in episode 8 and in KOTOR, Bastilla (albeit still new) was a Sith fighting the Jedi Revan. That battle lead to a direct effect on the space battle. I'd imagine given the state of the republic in KOTOR 2, if Malak survived. He could easily rally Sith forces across the galaxy and still defeat the republic. He just wouldn't have the hack that is the Star Forge.

    My brief Sith defense plan.
    Have a decent sized strike force hyperspace away await on a flank. Continue to pump out your ships. Republic jumps in, gets over excited from a seemingly weak defense force and jumps head strong into it. Then once they're engaged have strike force return and catch them in a pincer.

    • @Kolonol1
      @Kolonol1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually the most reasonable idea I have seen yet...Malak wasn't ENTIRELY surprised as everyone says by the attack...he had kind of known for a while and was welcoming it because he could destroy Revan Bastilla and the republic navy in one fell swoop...but he lacked a complete strategy and relied entirely on Bastilla remaining on his side...incredibly stupid...
      If you know they are coming...which he did...THEN SURPRISE THE SHIT OUT OF THEM!!!!!

    Why is the Starforge actually considered a "weapon"?
    It´s a factory, given the plans it could create civil products as well!
    Yet sadly it never saw use to create something besides weapons and armor, at least to my knowledge.
    Eck, can you do a vid on what would be possible with the Starforge would be used for peaceful productions?
    You know, producing transporters, terra forming equipment, house construction parts andthings like med droids ect.!

      "Why is the Starforge actually considered a "weapon"?
      It´s a factory, given the plans it could create civil products as well!"
      According to the fluff, or at least how I remember it, initially it was just a factory. But overtime, because of the constant darkside exposure and its semi-living state, it became intrinsically corrupted. So I guess it became like a sith holocron, or some other darkside artifact- intrinsically geared towards dark side outcomes. So I guess it could be used for non-violent production initially, but overtime it would slowly corrupt the lightsider.

    I always wondered where the different factions in the different eras got their ship crews from. It is one thing to produce a massive amount of capital ships for your navy, but you also need a crew. You would also think that after thousands of years of war, people were not so keen on joining the military anymore.

    Dedicating a group to find and destroy the Ebon Hawk, a ship they knew Revan was on, seems like the only change in strategy they could have made. The Republic fleet was clearly strong enough to force a breakthrough had the Sith gotten aggressive and been drawn out of position. Putting Revan down before he infiltrated the Star Forge was their only option, because Malak was only a threat for Revan in that room where he could feed off of corrupted Jedi. Malak and Bastila could not handle Revan and his party, because Revan is just too powerful. And Malak already tried overwhelming Revan with the garrison, which Revan proceeded to cut to pieces.

    My only problem with that battle, unless I seriously missed something, was that the Sith fleet was not automated. They couldn't just keep adding more capital ships because they would need crews to man them and at least a little shake-down time to test the new ships? Either that or the star forge had just like millions of Sith troops on it ready to hop onboard new vessels any minute?

    I'd keep the flag ships stationary at a close proximity from the Starforge then send most snub fighters to the enemy capital ships to do some damage, they would be okay against the capital ships as their guns are usually slower. I would then take full advantage of battle meditation, I would send some scouts around the Starforge to detect any infiltrators. If it was Revan, I would lure him to the room with Bastila and catch him off guard, by bringing myself and some Sith apprentices. We would hopefully overwhelm him and take him and the rest out. After the snub fighters did enough damage, the capital ships would go in and attack the capital ships of the Republic, the snub fighters would stay close to our capital ships and ward off any slow bombers or enemy snub fighters. We would push them back, maybe even destroy them in the process.

  • @Matej_Sojka
    @Matej_Sojka 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Number one thing I would do as Malak? Send a Dark Jedi in Bastila's shuttle back to temple on Lehon to reengage the dampener field. Number two, have Bastila under guard, not alone while she is using Battle Meditation. Since Dark Jedi might be unreliable here due to wanting her place as his apprentice, use Star Forge droids. Number three, place her in a room that is NOT accessible on the way to his observation platform. He chose to engage Revan there to be able to drain captured Jedi so that was where he should stay as that was really the only thing that gave Revan problems when fighting him.
    My one gripe with your video is that although stuff like fighter craft might be easy and fast to create, even Star Forge cannot whip up Leviathan class vessels in seconds. And you need crew to man them. So the Sith fleet here could only count on droid reinforcements realistically and we saw only ground droid units. Danger of the Sith fleet lied in their already great numbers as Malak pulled most of his forces there and their positioning. That is why Republic was looking for a way into the formation, there was little they could do from outside.

      Defender the enpire would end up beating the rebellion, due to the republic becoming the empire and thousands more star destroyers and venators even. with the mass venator production during the clone wars, there might not have been any real chance of the separtists really fighting back. fighters wouldve been their only reliable defenses. becuase the war would go so fast, an empire might not even form and palpatine could litteraly just destroy the senate and republic jedi with his armies, and eventually when the inevitable rebellion forms, wipe them away as well. the galaxy would end up entirely in galactic empire hands, and possibly end up with exegol manufacturing the xyston destroyers, (although the star forge could i suppose) and have even stronger forces to fortify the galaxy with. however, there is always a possibility the the empire gets rebraanded due to palpatine literaly becoming to old to competently rule.

    Set up a laser grid like in the clone wars TV show. At that point, the only ships that can make it through are starfighters, which can be further wittled down with point defense cannons and your own fighters. Plus, if all of your ships are super coordinated because of battle meditation, your ships have an even greater advantage in this scenario. In addition, I'd add some orbital defense platforms outside the laser grid to deal with capital ships.

    I'd go with a tiered defense, starting with ion cannon that downed the Ebon Hawk, a couple of interdictors with more troops and equipment at the base, at the very least tie Revan down long enough for the cannon to take a few chunks out of the fleet. Next I'd split the defense fleet into two dedicated defense and assault group, while making up the loss in number from both with reinforcements from the Star Forge, that way you're safe to go after Republic forces without compromising the Forge's safety. Assuming Revan does still indeed take down the base on the planet and boards the Star Forge, I would make sure Bastila is properly defended, like you said Eck, with Malak in the room.

    What I would have done in that position would have been to move the Star Forge. From what I know (which granted is very little) the Star Forge didn't have any engines on it. That's what I would have dedicated _everything_ to changing as soon as I had control over the Forge. Granted, if I knew a fleet was on the way I would've taken some away from that to start churning out bombers and fighters as well as a few capitol ships to support the craft. After that I would have stayed with Bastilla Shan to take care of Revan and any intruders.

  • @adammullarkey4996
    @adammullarkey4996 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Build a giant, Endor-esque shield generator to protect the Star Forge, and only lower it occasionally to allow new ships to leave. I'm talking, basically, build an entire fleet, lower the shield just long enough for them to leave, and then raise it again. That way, even during the short window when the shield is down, there's an entire fleet of brand new ships ready to defend it. Then you just keep Malak and Bastila on the Star Forge, where Revan can't get to her, and, even if they can find a way, they can't defeat both of them at once. If the Republic try to besiege it, keep the shield up and wait for reinforcements to arrive and more ships to be built. Then, combine the reinforcements coming from behind with the new ships from the Forge, and trap and defeat the Republic fleet.

    malak made a mistake of not protecting temple of the ancients on Lehon -> and by extension the disruptor field generator properly. it shouldve had much bigger garrison supplemented with shield generators covering the whole temple, not just the impenetrable rakatan forcefield guarding the entrance. also since sith ships were not affected by the disruptor field few cruisers in orbit of Lehon bombarding any republic ships that manage to crash/land on the planet would be a smart move.

    Who's the more effective soldier 'A Pilot and there TITAN' from the TITANFALL series or 'A Spartan II (possibly with an AI)' from the Halo series

    • @itsyaboidaniel2919
      @itsyaboidaniel2919 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tried to do a vs match up with the Militia Pilots from Titanfall and Spartan IV's, which I eventually stopped doing,
      Spartan II is also interesting, but since Pilots are highly trained and highly mobile I would say they would win, doesn't mean a Spartan II couldn't win, or that they aren't trained, but Pilots are highly trained as well, and while Spartan II's were trained from birth, I doubt they really needed to be, just get some people with those good genes and try them out, not steal random children,
      But a Pilot WITH A TITAN would destroy any Spartan probably even Master Chief since it could literally crush him in it's hand or punch him and one shot him, two or three if he's lucky, not to mention how OP Titan Weapons and Abilities are

    • @Masso-gy9yu
      @Masso-gy9yu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      well, hold a minute. I was talking about a Spartan II. with a UNSC smart AI. A TITAN wouldn't be able to simply crush him/her because they can literally survive a fall from orbit, which is way more force then a TITAN could ever give to an object. Not to mention that Mjolnir armor could take any hit that a TITAN throughs at it. or the AI could simply hack the TITAN itself.
      And I know that the pilots are no joke when it comes to fighting but compared to a Spartan II, they're just not in the same league. you saw the opening cinematic to halo 5 right? and those where Spartan IVs. I cannot picture a Pilot doing that.

    • @itsyaboidaniel2919
      @itsyaboidaniel2919 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Throws* not throughs, through is like going "through" something,
      A Spartan II (aka Master chief) can survive a fall from orbit, yet some bullets or 1-2 RPGs seem to kill them, seems like either inconsistency or they just wanted to make Chief look bad ass,
      And if what Halos Multiplayer says is true, then if a Spartan II cannot survive 2-3 punches from another Spartan II then I highly doubt they would survive 2 punches from a Titan let alone 1, if they survive the first punch they're probably gonna be too crippled to fight back, the second punch is probably game over,
      Titans have their own AI in place, so I can imagine it's entirely possible they can fight off any attempts at hacking as that probably would have been noticed by the people who made the Titans, assuming Titans can be hacked in the first place,
      The Halo 5 opening cinematic you can't picture Pilots doing because there aren't many alien races in Titanfall, they don't have Spartan abilities, and they haven't been shown to be able to do something like that, but a group of Pilots has basically took over an IMC ship on their own, and it is entirely possible Pilots have done so before, which is a pretty good feat on their part,

    • @Masso-gy9yu
      @Masso-gy9yu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah Spelling has never been my strong suit.
      Yes, Spartan's die with a view blasts from an RPG but you have to understand the difference between the two universe's, which is what? a couple hundred years which would explain why Halo weapons like RPG's would do more damage then the TITANFALL version. Don't forget that a TITAN's track recorded with RPG's isn't great either. I don't want to think about how quickly the TITAN would go down when it came face to face with a Spartan Laser.
      And when a Spartan punches another Spartan, they do it with a hell of a lot of force. And it doesn't kill them, I don't know if you've ever seen 'game Theory' (who I would recommended to anyone) he proved that when a Spartan get's hit, it just breaks the interface at the back of the head that lets them control their armor.
      Not to mention that a Spartan would be way faster then a TITAN would be, making it very easy to do what other Pilots do and just climb on top and take the power core out.
      Even if that wasn't an option, you have a Spartan that access to 'overshields' 'cloaking' 'bubble shields' 'advanced scanners' and an AI that is trained to hack into foreign technology.
      And about the cinematic, I wasn't saying a pilot team couldn't do that because of a lack of aliens. If you get a pilot cinematic, say at the beginning of TITANFALL 2 (which I love) while that shows how good of a soldier a pilot it, It just doesn't seem to come close to a Spartan II.
      Thanks for this by the way, it's been a while since I've had a good debate.

    • @itsyaboidaniel2919
      @itsyaboidaniel2919 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not seen anything that suggests Halo RPG's are any stronger or weaker than Titanfall RPG or modern day RPG's (same goes for Titanfall RPGs and modern RPGs also), if you could show me something that could that would help
      I am not too aware of this "track record" with RPGs, but there is a titan weapon which is a quad cannon that shoots 4 RPG's at once and Titans seem to take quite a few shots to be taken down with it, not to mention the Vortex Shield that some Titans have which could simply just catch the RPG before it hits them and then the Titan just send it right back to the enemy (in this case a Spartan II),
      There is a Laser Core in Titanfall which I can imagine is AT LEAST as powerful as a Spartan Laser since it is far larger and from A TITAN (and everything from a Titan is larger and more powerful) and when I see a Spartan laser and compare it to a Laser Core, it is so much more tiny, and the thing about the laser core is that it is continuous and not just one shot then wait a bit for another, for if a Spartan fired a Spartan Laser then the Titan could simply bust out it's laser core and just obliterate the Spartan, I mean it only takes a single Laser Core to destroy a Titan so I can imagine that it would do far more damage to a Spartan far more quickly
      I saw game theory, and last time I checked the heavy Helmet Spartans have caused the spartans neck to snap, if thats not the case I will have to rewatch that video some time,
      How fast is a Spartan? I know they are usually faster than normal people, but so are Titans, and they can dash similar to what the new Spartan suits can do,
      Assuming that the Spartan is fast enough to dodge the Titans hands and keep rodeoing, and thats also assuming the Spartan II would even know what the Power Cores were or where they were, there is a thing called Electric Smoke which damages enemies and is often used as an Anti-Rodeo method, although I can imagine with some Titans they are easily flexible enough to simply grab the person off in some cases, also Titans have MULTIPLE power cores so even if the Spartan (assuming they can both rodeo onto the Titan and also know what the power cores are in the first place AND where they are) could rodeo a Titan and take out a power core, they would need to do this MULTIPLE TIMES, which I doubt many are capable of doing,
      I just looked up the overshields, and it seems that in Campaign, it makes the Spartan boost their shields by 300%, in multiplayer it makes them invincible, and over shields are a covenant developed technology so they shouldn't have this normally, we can keep it or not do to this, whichever one you'd like,
      With bubble shields, anyone can go into it, so a Titan could just walk up to it and take the Spartan out of it, or play dirty and just put something over it so the Spartan can't get out once the bubble shield it over, like a metal shipping crate,
      I am now assuming these "advanced scanners" would let the Spartan know the basics of the Titan and possibly the power core thing,
      I wasn't completely saying that but there are a lot of things that are in Halo which aren't in Titanfall, and there are lots of things in Titanfall which aren't in Halo,
      You're welcome, but I didn't think we would be stopping yet

    I guess I would hold my forces back closer to the star forge so that they could shield it more effectively. The star forge is durable enough to survive a few shots that might slip through the cracks, so I think its more important to prevent a republic fleet from getting up close. To be honest, since we're outgunned and facing revan, I dont see us having a very clear advantage, so I'd prioritize protecting our two main assets- bastilla and the star forge- above all else.
    Since we're just defending a stationary object, there isnt altogether that much we can do. The single place where we have the best chance of turning the tide is if we can prevent Revan from ever stepping foot on the star forge. I dont really know its defenses well enough to say what we can do for sure, but if we could close all hangars down and then focus our starfighters enough to destroy the ebon hawk or at least force it to retreat, then there would be no way for Revan to reach Bastilla.

    I think the biggest issue is that the Sith did not push their advantage when they had battle meditation. During the early stages when the republic was holding back, they could’ve just pushed a portion of their fleet out to overwhelm the republic. They don’t even have to outright defeat them, forcing a retreat alone would be enough.

    The Star Forge is one of the most brilliant superweapons in all of Star Wars. It didn't just draw POWER from the star, it also drew it's resource supply from it...Hydrogen and Helium are make up over 98% of your typical main sequence stars...it is my belief the Star Forge is essentially a matter recombiner, using those most basic elements to create more complex ones.
    The rooms in the station were massive, easily able to fit a hundred troops within each one. So in a 5 room radius surrounding my main location in all directions I fit 50-80 soldiers PER room let Revan and his party fight an entire army in each and every step they try to get to me....then in a 5 room radius out from that I there is a minimal troop presence; because EVERYONE is falling back as I systematically vent the entire station'a atmosphere and deactivate the gravity controls.
    At this point the only 4 potential threats in the party are Revan, Juhanni, Jolie, Canderous and HK-47...and of those 5 MAYBE Canderous and HK are capable of being a prolonged threat. Not even Jedi can last long in a vacuum while fighting. Plo Koon managed it in the Clone Wars for what...five minutes tops?
    So now, they have to navigate a station that is a labyrinth , in a vacuum, without gravity, (and no means of propulsion or life support seen beyond the Ebon Hawk, THEN if they get to my security preimiter they have to fight through a small army 5 times, THEN they have to fight me, and Bastilla, along with another small army at the same time to take the station.

    I use a large number of interdictor cruisers in an entrapment configuration, catching the Republic fleet off guard and making sure they can’t escape. I would then send a vanguard force of cruisers protected by screens of fighters to harass the enemy fleet, while still having a sizable amount of ships protecting the Star Forge. The fighters would be in defensive screens, and sweep enemy fighters if they try to smash their way into my blockade defense. That’s how I would destroy the Republic fleet if I was the Sith Commander
