Can’t believe I’m invested in Borksen’s story. I was at the edge of my seat when the final card was revealed, relieved as well that she gets to live. Togashi is such a goated writer.
In my mind i never had doubts borksen would be die, i think it's because narratively we already invested three chapters into her so it would be a waste to let her die, so no the scene lack tension imo
Borksen is Tserri‘s friend so she must’ve at least heard rumours about his depravity. Also, now that she’s heard the carnival, if she’s still trying to protect Tserri, that’s just f up.
All of Tzeri's friend groups noticed some blatant red flags after Tzereidnich locked himself in to master the use of guns and shot a guy out of spite. They know that if nen is something powerful, Tzeri training in it will make things get really messed up.
It's perpetually amazing to me how Togashi is able to take the most random side characters (who you would never think would be important) and make said characters as interesting as any given shonen main character.

I love how Chrollo and Morena are mirrors of one another. This can especially be seen in their abilities. Chrollo uses others powers for himself while Morena uses her powers to awaken and strengthen others
Morena being all shy about borksen's first kiss and borksen saying "anyway, while i was busy being sexually harassed for your ability i took my eyes off the game" was for sure the highlight for me this chapter 6:00 she doesn't even have to be lying for this to be the case, she created that condition herself
Look, people love Hisoka, hes one of the most liked characters and hes a brutal murderer and clown psychopath. Of course we are gonna like Morena, and for good reason. What happened to her was atrocious and some people politically probably somewhat side with her and think people who support and cause atrocities like that deserve the death penalty
I have to give it to Togashi. Maybe it's just because before these chapters all I saw from Morena's expression were cold empty stares. These newer chapters giving Morena a wider range of emotions are kind of humanizing her, and then you remember, Oh yeah, she's a cold-blooded killer raising an army of other cold-blooded killers.
Togashi does these things like giving us insight into the minds of characters who incorrectly speculate, or creating a whole ass card game that everybody who joins Morena has to go through, and it so effectively creates the illusion that these are real characters who have complex thought processes and are actively trying to figure out the situation they're in. Which results in any and every character we get introduced to feeling like they have the potential to become a pivotal character who can decide the fates of human lives on a mass scale. By playing that Yes card Borksen may have just doomed an entire nation, or even humanity itself. While the latter is all but guaranteed to not happen, the former is definitely something we could see come to pass and that is an absolutely insane amount of power to give a character who has appeared in 5 or 6 chapters.
The last panel looks as if Morena is irritated or upset. She probably doesn't like the unpredictability now that Borksen is part of the gang. The parallel between Chrollo and Morena is very similar. Chrollo had a spider that put his Troupe at risk (Hisoka). Now Morena has a member that may put her entire gang at risk too.
I thought the same thing. I wonder if by winning the game herself Morena is allowed a degree of control over the other player and by playing Yes herself Borksen may have taken that away. Morena probably wanted to win herself so she could be in control but now Borksen might be capable of betraying her, and as a specialist that makes her extremely dangerous. Borksen might be the ultimate wild card on the ship right now and that's crazy to think about for a character who seemed so irrelevant 3 chapters ago.
I think Morena realized that Borksen is more trouble than she's worth. If Morena fully supports the goals of her family as part of a nen vow, if Borksen's goal is reformation/changing the Kakin empire it will force Morena to compromise on destroying it (the only QA questions Borksen asked that we saw that matter)
I think Borksen cheated, when she asked to "review the cards" she put some mark on the R cards (like a blood stain). Which is why she knew where the R card was and she crushed it after she picked it up, so as a punishment the game made her pick Yes. She literally said just 2 seconds before that she would pick the X
It definitely wouldn't have been a bloodstain; Morena could've noticed that too easily, and crumpling it wouldn't hide a stain. I really like the theory that the game compelled her because she cheated though
@@obviouslyanonymous You assume Morena hasn't noticed the cheating, but given what we know about her not wanting Borksen to specifically choose No only and any other outcome being more beneficial from her perspective, even if she did notice she wouldn't have neccessarily been compelled to say anything. Now, Borksen of course does not know that choosing the X is better for Morena than choosing a No so she still would've assumed that Morena didn't notice and tried to destroy any evidence of her cheating.
Do you think Morena’s negotiation game serves as a narrative device similar to the Gungi game in the Chimera Ant arc, where the mechanics of the game themselves reflect the core structure of the story? To me, the idea of a parent sending their child to the “graveyard” seems to symbolize the succession war. But who might emerge from the graveyard? Or could this instead be a representation of the Phantom Troupe?
I mean, we already have a prince presumed to be dead but alive and a princess dead but still alive in some ways... They both "came back from the graveyard"
At first, when Morena said it was Bork's first kiss, I thought she could somehow sense it while infecting her with Contagion. But then I remembered she spent most of her life as a "sex worker". Of course, she could tell.

I swear, every time i see Morena smile, i get a chill up my spine. Not because im scared of her now, but because every time it happens, i almost expect to see that hidden darkness a few pages later, and the thought of it being expressed is terrifying. Im both really excited and really terrified for when she finally drops the veil, and we see that pure darkness on full display on her face.
Borksen eyes looked dead inside after her first ever kiss it clearly bothered her a a lot and it didn't help that morena repeatedly brought up the kiss which only made porksen even more mad lol. Seriously her eyes looked like an off screen TV, I feel for her.
I think the point in which Borksen decided to go for the "yes" card, was when she asked about Morena's* resolve. Drawing a parallel to Theta's situation where she decided to stick to Tserri and teach him nen to keep him close and eventually eliminate him. I believe that's what Borksen is also thinking, because if she would have picked "no", Morena would be actively avoiding her.
Yeah I think Borky realized the only way to stop Morena is from inside her organization. Like Borksen said during her QA inner monologue, she needs to take advantage of vows and limitations. What if Morena has a limitation forcing that Borksen can use to force her to compromise on killing Kakin
I think the reason Borksen chose the yes card is because she plans to destroy the hei-ly family from within. She understood that because nen works in a way of vows and restrictions, she can utilise it to her goal. This is exactly the reason she kept gathering all that information at the end, while still keeping the impression that she won't join. That way, it'll further boost her nen ability with the risk of her leaving with all that information
Out of topic, because I'm glad that Togashi finally writes another chapters, looking back when HxH is on hiatus I feel like Liam works so hard for us to keep the fandom to not completely death even with no new content whatsoever, and looking at Liam excitedly talking about the new chapters each week, really shows that the one who is the most excited about the new chapter of HxH is no one but Liam, this makes me appriciate Liam even more

I think the reason Borksen asked Morena to confirm multiple times that her goal won't change is because she wanted to see how committed she was. It seems like they may actually share the same goal, and she wanted to make sure nothing could change Morena's goals. After hearing this, then she chose Yes.
Knowing Togashi loves his tragic ironies, how fitting would it be for Marena and her ability to create the very thing that will be her downfall in some way or another.
I had a similar feeling at the end of the chapter. She either changed her mind during Q A questions or she's just playing along to get her a quick nen ability and then be a double agent conspiring against Heil-ly.

The prince would probably see it coming and change the timeline to so he was never actually caught, depends on fast tseiridnichs got at entering ten zetsu and all that I’d guess, at this current moment do I think it’s possible kurapika could pull it off? Maybe, but tseiridnichs developing and advancing and getting better and more efficient so quickly that by the time they do meet up or if they do I think tseiridnichs would be quick and calculated enough to get out of it especially if he already knows a bit about kurapikas hatsus, but if it was kurapikas first attack it would have the most chance of success, a cool scenario to contemplate for sure tho no
4:15 morena eyes being drawn in the same manner throughout the negotiation reflects her determination of not changing her mind at all however borksen may have changed her mind on morena and her goals and so she choosed the yes card thus she was drawn inconsistently through the chapter
Borksen choosing the Yes card actually makes a lot of sense. She said her goal was to get as much info on the Heily family as possible so "they can't lay a finger on us when I escape". If her goal was to have the x card at the end this would be entirely pointless cause she'd get her memory erased. Her goal from the jump was to try and end with the yes card cause its the only way she can keep her memories of what happened and also have a chance to escape.
I think you’re right. There’s something building about both this card interaction and Borxin in general. Her nen ability may be able take advantage of the amplifying properties of Morenas power
so I wanna put a theory out there, cuz i think Togashi has hinted at what has happened during the last night involving the 1st and 9th princes, and if im right Halkenburg and might are dead, with Benjamin using this as this chance to invoke martial law. so the primary part of this theory revolves around the ability of Benjamin's guardian spirit beast, which is the only beast we have seen and not had the ability told to us, making me think its effects are gonna be a twist, another important thing is that the guardian spirit beasts respond to the personality and desires of the princes. from what we know about Benjamin though i highly doubt its an offensive beast, purely because he already has insane physical power and wouldn't want to rely on something he cant see or control to win for him, he seems too proud for that, however the other thing we know about him is his desire to protect those loyal to him and those he cares about, so i think the effect could be more defensive or supportive. however the thing which in my eyes confirmed its ability was chapter 402, when Fugetsu enters Benjamin's room and has the nen spirits surrounding her temporarily exorcised by the first prince's GSB, which led me to thinking that its ability could be to negate any nen curses or evil spirits in Benjamin's presence, with a most likely condition that it has to be someone Benjamin cares about, and if this is the case its possible that when Halkenburg attempts to attack Benjamin in might's body the GSB removed the effects of Grimmel the Dissonance as it could count as a nen curse, which would cause the death of Halkenburg, however it would also most likely kill might as it wouldn't switch him back into his own body, leading to a situation where might is dead and Benjamin has solid proof another prince tried to kill him, leading to martial law. the only issue i could think of with this theory was that guardian spirit beasts cant attack princes or other guardian spirit beasts, but there is multiple loopholes that would allow this to happen, for 1 we already saw Benjamin's GSB affect a prince (refer to Fugetsu) so its possible that affects that are not attacks, such as removing a nen curse, could be seen as only helpful and allowed withing the rules of the succession war, since it isn't technically an attack. on top of this, Halkenburg is technically not a prince right now, being in the body of someone not participating in the war, and we don't know if his GSB followed him or stuck with his body, so basically he could be seen as just might rather then a prince and therefore ok to attack. either way something big happened with Benjamin, and i don't think halkenburg can switch bodies with him due to not having nearby allies, so the most likely answer is Halkenburg is dead, and i think this is how it happened. I'm curious what you all think, and let me know if I overlooked something.

Yeah that's how I read it, that the higher tiers were provided more information as part of their privilege. It might also be subtle hinting that tier 1 occupants might be moving down tiers to avoid martial law

The Negotiation Game is all about choice of words, and Morena simply slipped up by assuming that Borksen would return the X card.

I felt some chilling implications of what Borkson is feeling from her reaction to the kiss. Definitely a sense of violation. Morena’s nen conditions and goals have been influenced from her experience being “flesh” and she ultimately treats others in the same manner.
The "unawakened" hidden requirement for Contagion is definitely a thing, because it would be way too powerful otherwise, and just no. There's also something that you can correct me on, but I believe that during Hinrigh and Nobunaga's original infiltration of the hideout, there was something casually dropped by the lawyer while he was explaining his ability. The number of rules required for an ability to essentially be classified as "unbeatable" is 4, which would actually make a lot sense, because I just remembered that 4 is associated with death in Japan. Let me know if anyone looks into that, I'm kinda lazy.

The reason borksen asks morena so many times if shes willing to change her goals is 2 reasons, if morena said yes then she would join and attempt to get morena to change her goals, if morena is absolutely set in her goals then she would join and stop/unalive morena and her group. There are no conditions that she must go along with morenas goals after joining the group.
Imagine Burksen forming a pact with her nen to allow her to have 100 levels since the beginning and the restriction is every time she kills loses X amount of levels until it reaches 0 then she Will lose her nen. This could allow her to create her own group to deliver nen to her friends increacing their chances to survive, as she currently knows the nen afinity of the hai-ly and that could have a chance to counter them or qt least give them a fight. Also Morena did not mention to Burksen that she is capable of watching the hai-ly members. I wander if is she goes back to tserrinich if she would be able to see his nen through Burksen eyes...
When Borksen picked the Yes card, she technically managed to make Morena lie. Previously, she asked Morena that she would forget everything she learned about the Hei-Ly and leave if she picked the return card. Morena said yes. However, Borksen picked the return card and did not leave. So maybe she’s trying to trap Morena in a technicality

I think borksen might actually agree with morena up to a point. let’s review everything Borksen found out about morena in the game to try to piece together her motive 1. someone else took over morenas body, when saying morena this person is the one in control that we refer to. 2. morena was birthed through the nasubi carnival 3. her mother lost all humanity and died before morena was 2 y/o 4. her goal is to destroy the kakin empire then the world 5. she has 21 members 6. she gives her members freedom to chase their own goals (most have to do with murder) 7. her ability gives other people nen abilities. 8. morena would kill her if she chooses No 9. morena is a woman of principle. she has been completely honest about everything am I missing anything from the game? I think the borksen reviewing cards has 2 interpretations: borksen was trying to cheat. or she genuinely didn’t trust morena, and at that point she realized morena was a woman of principle. I think borksen might be a true ally to morena
I know I shouldn't admit this but I just watch your videos rather than read the manga at this point. Once all of these new chapters are out I will probably go back and read them but thanks for your help following the story.
Prediction: Morena and family die by end of arc, BUT Borksen converts after witnessing horror on BW1, reaches LVL100, becomes next Morena on Dark Continet w/ Contagion, own Specialist skill, and maybe Negotiation (inherited from 1st Morena?). Her objective will be to bring 1 of 5 Calamities back to Civilization . That's why so much time is being spent on this interaction--my guess.
I found the theme of the Arc. It is family! Alot of the politics and feuds here are litteraly family coded. Each major faction in some way has family tie in this arc or are assuming roles similar to one. Kurapika being a surrogate gaurdian to wobble, The Family Troupe hunting uncle Hisoka, Royal family Hijinks, Beyond Neteros family tree, ans mob family feuds to tie the bow.

Agreed although I found the theme to be more specific than family. The theme is "The Loss of Childs Innocence at Young Age". This theme applies to Kurapika, Phantom Troupe, Morena, the duo twin sister prince, Beyond with his childs, even Gon and Killua who are not on this arc. I think this theme can be applied to HxH as a whole, even the chimera ants since they are babies with fast growth rate.
Those chapters also show how Morena managed to get such a following. She can be surprisingly charismatic and sympathetic. As long as she searches for people that are in a desperate situation or that have been through something similar she can get them to join her cause. I wonder if the 3 conditions for contagion to activate also have manipulation involved.
There was this genuinely sad expression on Borksen's face after she asked Morena if she would change her ways, maybe meet halfway? To both she said no. Shows Morena's resolve. I think Borksen wanted to hear something different. But then accepted her resolve, which ultimately changed her mind. And man that part alone. That hit 😭 brilliant chapter. Girl love is op

Borksen is taking matters into her own hands. The information she gained from the game and the future information she’ll gain from joining the gang will allow her to tailor her future hatsu to stop or mitigate morena. Even if she said no she would get mixed up in the chaos eventually.
As a specialist, getting baptized with the realization Nen/Hatsu is key to come out on top she might develop an ability to shut down other hatsus. Becoming the person needed to defeat superior enemies/ ending the succession ability as Morena group is overall about quantity instead of quality. I personally hope they get anhiliate to showcase how powerful other characters are, as they are using a cheat or shotcut to become powerful nen users, something I am not a fan of in general as they sacrifice nothing but demand everything
Reading the differing restrictions imposed for the tiers makes it seem like whatever crisis justified martial law being decreed is located on/focused on tier 3
I’m pretty convinced that Morena has some telepathic connection to all her “children”. It’s how she knows real time about dogman, and Wang wasn’t just thinking about Morena and the PT - he was telepathically tipping her off
Man I am really hoping we are getting 20+ chapters with this run of them.. They have been really solid and some big story implications have been revealed but at the same time it feels like we have spent so much of it on adding new side characters or information that it feels like so much still has to happen if the succession contest is going to continue as originally planned let alone the dark continent.
There is actually another important reason for choosing to play the game rather than choosing yes right away without playing , morena said in chapter 408 page 18 that by overcoming the risk of dying the effectiveness becomes stronger , so some might chose to play the game anyway for the boost such risk would offer.
There is risk in playing the game, sure, but isn't there more risk in saying "yes" to a murder cult without at least attempting a teensy bit of information gathering beforehand?
It seems that Borsken lured Morena into a vow, voiding the original game. She ended the game with the YES card, at the same time having asked Morena TO WALK AWAY IF SHE KEPT THE RETURN IN THE FINAL FLIPPING. So either the game ended with the deal and no final card (which isn't that interesting) or the game ended with the deal AND the YES card, allowing Borsken to develop her Nen and then walk away. Morena is in trouble now, Borsken cleary doesn't have the same goals as Morena and the QA interrogatory was a giant red flag of a future invasion. Maybe Morena will develop Borsken's Nen to accomplish a very specific goal, then she will try to discard her, which it will backfire, that will depend on when Morena will notice she made an extra deal. In the end, Borsken was able to choose both X and YES, which along with the card marking (I didn't noticed that before the video) makes her the GOAT of this game.
If you think about the other specialist we know of to incorporate nearly all the nen types into a multifaceted ability Kurapika it makes sense that hers works the same way. Seems like specialists have way more freedom when it comes to what counts as one ability. Rip Kastro shoulda been a specialist
There's something strange going on here. It said that the reason for the Martial law is because of some "issue" in tier one. I'm absolutely confident that is something related to Halkenburg. I had three theory about what happened: 1) Halkenburg tried to attack Benjamin, and failed. So Benjamin declared Martial law. 2) Halkenburg did attack Benjamin, and succeeds. So he declared Martial law in Benjamin's body. 3) I was wrong, and the person that Halkenburg really wanted to take over the body is Luzurus. So Rice, that is in fact one of Halkenburg's soldiers that switched soul with the real Rice in 386, helped Halkenburg from inside room 1007. Rice could have put an act. He acted like he was trying to shoot Luzurus, but in this moment, Halkenburg shoot his arrow, and take Luzurus body. But because of that, Benjamin heard the rumbling, and from his soldier in room 1007, he knows that Rice tried to "kill" Luzurus, and then he used this as an excuse to declare Martial law. But the fact that the restrictions for the people on tier 3 is so harsh, more than tier 1 and 2, make me think that it could be related to tier 3 too. The negotiation game, as I've been saying since 407, is just a card game that "Morena" came up to "kill two birds with one stone". This card game is not a nen ability, it's not part of her Cantagion ability, and the cards are not conjure either. When she talked about "vows and limitations", she was basically saying that is through this game that she shows her resolve, and has a "side effect" that makes her nen/ability stronger. But the game is not a restriction from her ability, and that's what makes Borksen choose "yes". Borksen at the end get to the conclusion that "Morena" is a 100% honest person, she doesn't cheat cause she don't want to cheat. Is not like she doesn't cheat cause the game is a restriction of her ability, and if she cheat, she would get some kind of punishment, like Kurapika's chain in his heart. And this side of "Morena" captivated Borsken more than anything. Of course, that deep kiss also help a lot "Morena" to completely steal Borksen's heart haha. I don't blame her. With the information that the currently number of members is 21 (everyone, besides Luini and Padaille who got killed) is confirmed that Wang work for "Morena", but is not an infected member. Also, "Morena" must have some connections with the engineers of black whale, to came up with that hideout for her in the gaps of tiers 2 and 3. The theory of Kaiser working with "Morena" don't make sense, since the objective of "Morena" is destroy kakin and kill everybody in there. Don't make sense kaiser try to save Kacho and Fugetsu, and he even said that he wish to see Fugetsu become king with Kacho to change kakin. "Morena" clearly said in this chapter that she doesn't want to change kakin, she wants to destroy, and there's nothing that will change her mind either. So Kaiser is not working with "Morena". That panel in 394 of Borksen and the others Tserri's soldiers in the nen diagram position, it was really a hint by Togashi. Borksen will convince the others to join "Morena", and they will all be infected by Cantagion, and gain nen abilities, and their nen types are exactly what is shown in that panel in 394. I'm really curious about chapter 410. In one of Togashi's posts for chapter 410, there's one panel of Killua. I'm really curious how Togashi will put Killua in this arc, and it feels natural, like it was planned from the start. I have a speculation... that extra page in vol 33 is actually a hint of a "off screen" scene of Killua and Alluka/Nanika. Killua must have asked Nanika if she is inside Alluka SINCE birth, or if she ENTERED in Alluka's body AFTER she was born. And so, we get to that extra page in vol 33. Nanika said that she was not born with Alluka, and she entered in Alluka's body when she was a few months old, or years old. And then Killua asks if Nanika knows where she's come from, and she says "I'm from the dark continent". So when Killua heard about the voyage to the dark continent, he said "Nanika, I'm going to take you back to your home". That's the only way I can see Togashi putting Killua in this arc, in a way that makes sense. This also would explain Illumi be here. Illumi came to the black whale to "look after" Killua so he don't die in the dark continent.
You have three totally separate ideas here. They're all great talking points, but should maybe be three separate comments for easier reading/replying 😅
I think the end of the chapter was exactly what it seemed, bork making a split second change in judgement after seeing morenas conviction, similar to theta teaching tserri in order to maybe be there to stop him. Picking X means bork is "free" but Morena and her faction will avoid her, Yes both gives Bork a superpower and an in to monitor the largest threat to her personal wants, just living normally with her friends. Shes probably hoping she can stop morena within the bounds of the family, especially because "destroying everything" would presumably include...Morena herself.

All of Tzeri's friend groups noticed some blatant red flags after Tzereidnich locked himself in to master the use of guns and shot a guy out of spite. They know that if nen is something powerful, Tzeri training in it will make things get really messed up.
It's perpetually amazing to me how Togashi is able to take the most random side characters (who you would never think would be important) and make said characters as interesting as any given shonen main character.

Look, people love Hisoka, hes one of the most liked characters and hes a brutal murderer and clown psychopath. Of course we are gonna like Morena, and for good reason. What happened to her was atrocious and some people politically probably somewhat side with her and think people who support and cause atrocities like that deserve the death penalty
I have to give it to Togashi. Maybe it's just because before these chapters all I saw from Morena's expression were cold empty stares. These newer chapters giving Morena a wider range of emotions are kind of humanizing her, and then you remember, Oh yeah, she's a cold-blooded killer raising an army of other cold-blooded killers.
Togashi does these things like giving us insight into the minds of characters who incorrectly speculate, or creating a whole ass card game that everybody who joins Morena has to go through, and it so effectively creates the illusion that these are real characters who have complex thought processes and are actively trying to figure out the situation they're in. Which results in any and every character we get introduced to feeling like they have the potential to become a pivotal character who can decide the fates of human lives on a mass scale.
By playing that Yes card Borksen may have just doomed an entire nation, or even humanity itself. While the latter is all but guaranteed to not happen, the former is definitely something we could see come to pass and that is an absolutely insane amount of power to give a character who has appeared in 5 or 6 chapters.
The last panel looks as if Morena is irritated or upset. She probably doesn't like the unpredictability now that Borksen is part of the gang.
The parallel between Chrollo and Morena is very similar. Chrollo had a spider that put his Troupe at risk (Hisoka). Now Morena has a member that may put her entire gang at risk too.
I thought the same thing. I wonder if by winning the game herself Morena is allowed a degree of control over the other player and by playing Yes herself Borksen may have taken that away. Morena probably wanted to win herself so she could be in control but now Borksen might be capable of betraying her, and as a specialist that makes her extremely dangerous.
Borksen might be the ultimate wild card on the ship right now and that's crazy to think about for a character who seemed so irrelevant 3 chapters ago.

I think Morena realized that Borksen is more trouble than she's worth. If Morena fully supports the goals of her family as part of a nen vow, if Borksen's goal is reformation/changing the Kakin empire it will force Morena to compromise on destroying it (the only QA questions Borksen asked that we saw that matter)

Which is why she knew where the R card was and she crushed it after she picked it up, so as a punishment the game made her pick Yes. She literally said just 2 seconds before that she would pick the X

I think the point in which Borksen decided to go for the "yes" card, was when she asked about Morena's* resolve. Drawing a parallel to Theta's situation where she decided to stick to Tserri and teach him nen to keep him close and eventually eliminate him. I believe that's what Borksen is also thinking, because if she would have picked "no", Morena would be actively avoiding her.
Yeah I think Borky realized the only way to stop Morena is from inside her organization. Like Borksen said during her QA inner monologue, she needs to take advantage of vows and limitations.

I think the reason Borksen chose the yes card is because she plans to destroy the hei-ly family from within. She understood that because nen works in a way of vows and restrictions, she can utilise it to her goal. This is exactly the reason she kept gathering all that information at the end, while still keeping the impression that she won't join. That way, it'll further boost her nen ability with the risk of her leaving with all that information

Borksen choosing the Yes card actually makes a lot of sense. She said her goal was to get as much info on the Heily family as possible so "they can't lay a finger on us when I escape". If her goal was to have the x card at the end this would be entirely pointless cause she'd get her memory erased. Her goal from the jump was to try and end with the yes card cause its the only way she can keep her memories of what happened and also have a chance to escape.

so I wanna put a theory out there, cuz i think Togashi has hinted at what has happened during the last night involving the 1st and 9th princes, and if im right Halkenburg and might are dead, with Benjamin using this as this chance to invoke martial law.
so the primary part of this theory revolves around the ability of Benjamin's guardian spirit beast, which is the only beast we have seen and not had the ability told to us, making me think its effects are gonna be a twist, another important thing is that the guardian spirit beasts respond to the personality and desires of the princes. from what we know about Benjamin though i highly doubt its an offensive beast, purely because he already has insane physical power and wouldn't want to rely on something he cant see or control to win for him, he seems too proud for that, however the other thing we know about him is his desire to protect those loyal to him and those he cares about, so i think the effect could be more defensive or supportive.
however the thing which in my eyes confirmed its ability was chapter 402, when Fugetsu enters Benjamin's room and has the nen spirits surrounding her temporarily exorcised by the first prince's GSB, which led me to thinking that its ability could be to negate any nen curses or evil spirits in Benjamin's presence, with a most likely condition that it has to be someone Benjamin cares about, and if this is the case its possible that when Halkenburg attempts to attack Benjamin in might's body the GSB removed the effects of Grimmel the Dissonance as it could count as a nen curse, which would cause the death of Halkenburg, however it would also most likely kill might as it wouldn't switch him back into his own body, leading to a situation where might is dead and Benjamin has solid proof another prince tried to kill him, leading to martial law.
the only issue i could think of with this theory was that guardian spirit beasts cant attack princes or other guardian spirit beasts, but there is multiple loopholes that would allow this to happen, for 1 we already saw Benjamin's GSB affect a prince (refer to Fugetsu) so its possible that affects that are not attacks, such as removing a nen curse, could be seen as only helpful and allowed withing the rules of the succession war, since it isn't technically an attack. on top of this, Halkenburg is technically not a prince right now, being in the body of someone not participating in the war, and we don't know if his GSB followed him or stuck with his body, so basically he could be seen as just might rather then a prince and therefore ok to attack.
either way something big happened with Benjamin, and i don't think halkenburg can switch bodies with him due to not having nearby allies, so the most likely answer is Halkenburg is dead, and i think this is how it happened. I'm curious what you all think, and let me know if I overlooked something.

I felt some chilling implications of what Borkson is feeling from her reaction to the kiss. Definitely a sense of violation. Morena’s nen conditions and goals have been influenced from her experience being “flesh” and she ultimately treats others in the same manner.
The "unawakened" hidden requirement for Contagion is definitely a thing, because it would be way too powerful otherwise, and just no. There's also something that you can correct me on, but I believe that during Hinrigh and Nobunaga's original infiltration of the hideout, there was something casually dropped by the lawyer while he was explaining his ability. The number of rules required for an ability to essentially be classified as "unbeatable" is 4, which would actually make a lot sense, because I just remembered that 4 is associated with death in Japan. Let me know if anyone looks into that, I'm kinda lazy.

The reason borksen asks morena so many times if shes willing to change her goals is 2 reasons, if morena said yes then she would join and attempt to get morena to change her goals, if morena is absolutely set in her goals then she would join and stop/unalive morena and her group. There are no conditions that she must go along with morenas goals after joining the group.

Imagine Burksen forming a pact with her nen to allow her to have 100 levels since the beginning and the restriction is every time she kills loses X amount of levels until it reaches 0 then she Will lose her nen. This could allow her to create her own group to deliver nen to her friends increacing their chances to survive, as she currently knows the nen afinity of the hai-ly and that could have a chance to counter them or qt least give them a fight. When Borksen picked the Yes card, she technically managed to make Morena lie. Previously, she asked Morena that she would forget everything she learned about the Hei-Ly and leave if she picked the return card. Morena said yes. However, Borksen picked the return card and did not leave. So maybe she’s trying to trap Morena in a technicality

borksen was trying to cheat.
or she genuinely didn’t trust morena, and at that point she realized morena was a woman of principle.

Her objective will be to bring 1 of 5 Calamities back to Civilization . That's why so much time is being spent on this interaction--my guess.

I found the theme of the Arc. It is family! Alot of the politics and feuds here are litteraly family coded. Each major faction in some way has family tie in this arc or are assuming roles similar to one. Kurapika being a surrogate gaurdian to wobble, The Family Troupe hunting uncle Hisoka, Royal family Hijinks, Beyond Neteros family tree, ans mob family feuds to tie the bow.

Agreed although I found the theme to be more specific than family.
The theme is "The Loss of Childs Innocence at Young Age". This theme applies to Kurapika, Phantom Troupe, Morena, the duo twin sister prince, Beyond with his childs, even Gon and Killua who are not on this arc.
I think this theme can be applied to HxH as a whole, even the chimera ants since they are babies with fast growth rate.
Those chapters also show how Morena managed to get such a following. She can be surprisingly charismatic and sympathetic. As long as she searches for people that are in a desperate situation or that have been through something similar she can get them to join her cause. I wonder if the 3 conditions for contagion to activate also have manipulation involved.

Borksen is taking matters into her own hands. The information she gained from the game and the future information she’ll gain from joining the gang will allow her to tailor her future hatsu to stop or mitigate morena. Even if she said no she would get mixed up in the chaos eventually.

As a specialist, getting baptized with the realization Nen/Hatsu is key to come out on top she might develop an ability to shut down other hatsus. Becoming the person needed to defeat superior enemies/ ending the succession ability as Morena group is overall about quantity instead of quality. I personally hope they get anhiliate to showcase how powerful other characters are, as they are using a cheat or shotcut to become powerful nen users, something I am not a fan of in general as they sacrifice nothing but demand everything

Man I am really hoping we are getting 20+ chapters with this run of them.. They have been really solid and some big story implications have been revealed but at the same time it feels like we have spent so much of it on adding new side characters or information that it feels like so much still has to happen if the succession contest is going to continue as originally planned let alone the dark continent.

There is actually another important reason for choosing to play the game rather than choosing yes right away without playing , morena said in chapter 408 page 18 that by overcoming the risk of dying the effectiveness becomes stronger , so some might chose to play the game anyway for the boost such risk would offer.
There is risk in playing the game, sure, but isn't there more risk in saying "yes" to a murder cult without at least attempting a teensy bit of information gathering beforehand?

It seems that Borsken lured Morena into a vow, voiding the original game. She ended the game with the YES card, at the same time having asked Morena TO WALK AWAY IF SHE KEPT THE RETURN IN THE FINAL FLIPPING. So either the game ended with the deal and no final card (which isn't that interesting) or the game ended with the deal AND the YES card, allowing Borsken to develop her Nen and then walk away.
Morena is in trouble now, Borsken cleary doesn't have the same goals as Morena and the QA interrogatory was a giant red flag of a future invasion. Maybe Morena will develop Borsken's Nen to accomplish a very specific goal, then she will try to discard her, which it will backfire, that will depend on when Morena will notice she made an extra deal. In the end, Borsken was able to choose both X and YES, which along with the card marking (I didn't noticed that before the video) makes her the GOAT of this game.

If you think about the other specialist we know of to incorporate nearly all the nen types into a multifaceted ability Kurapika it makes sense that hers works the same way. Seems like specialists have way more freedom when it comes to what counts as one ability. Rip Kastro shoulda been a specialist
There's something strange going on here.
It said that the reason for the Martial law is because of some "issue" in tier one.
I'm absolutely confident that is something related to Halkenburg.
I had three theory about what happened:
1) Halkenburg tried to attack Benjamin, and failed. So Benjamin declared Martial law.
2) Halkenburg did attack Benjamin, and succeeds. So he declared Martial law in Benjamin's body.
3) I was wrong, and the person that Halkenburg really wanted to take over the body is Luzurus. So Rice, that is in fact one of Halkenburg's soldiers that switched soul with the real Rice in 386, helped Halkenburg from inside room 1007. Rice could have put an act. He acted like he was trying to shoot Luzurus, but in this moment, Halkenburg shoot his arrow, and take Luzurus body. But because of that, Benjamin heard the rumbling, and from his soldier in room 1007, he knows that Rice tried to "kill" Luzurus, and then he used this as an excuse to declare Martial law.
But the fact that the restrictions for the people on tier 3 is so harsh, more than tier 1 and 2, make me think that it could be related to tier 3 too.
The negotiation game, as I've been saying since 407, is just a card game that "Morena" came up to "kill two birds with one stone".
This card game is not a nen ability, it's not part of her Cantagion ability, and the cards are not conjure either.
When she talked about "vows and limitations", she was basically saying that is through this game that she shows her resolve, and has a "side effect" that makes her nen/ability stronger.
But the game is not a restriction from her ability, and that's what makes Borksen choose "yes".
Borksen at the end get to the conclusion that "Morena" is a 100% honest person, she doesn't cheat cause she don't want to cheat.
Is not like she doesn't cheat cause the game is a restriction of her ability, and if she cheat, she would get some kind of punishment, like Kurapika's chain in his heart.
And this side of "Morena" captivated Borsken more than anything. Of course, that deep kiss also help a lot "Morena" to completely steal Borksen's heart haha.

With the information that the currently number of members is 21 (everyone, besides Luini and Padaille who got killed) is confirmed that Wang work for "Morena", but is not an infected member.
Also, "Morena" must have some connections with the engineers of black whale, to came up with that hideout for her in the gaps of tiers 2 and 3.
The theory of Kaiser working with "Morena" don't make sense, since the objective of "Morena" is destroy kakin and kill everybody in there. Don't make sense kaiser try to save Kacho and Fugetsu, and he even said that he wish to see Fugetsu become king with Kacho to change kakin.
"Morena" clearly said in this chapter that she doesn't want to change kakin, she wants to destroy, and there's nothing that will change her mind either. So Kaiser is not working with "Morena".
That panel in 394 of Borksen and the others Tserri's soldiers in the nen diagram position, it was really a hint by Togashi.
Borksen will convince the others to join "Morena", and they will all be infected by Cantagion, and gain nen abilities, and their nen types are exactly what is shown in that panel in 394.
I'm really curious about chapter 410. In one of Togashi's posts for chapter 410, there's one panel of Killua.
I'm really curious how Togashi will put Killua in this arc, and it feels natural, like it was planned from the start.
I have a speculation... that extra page in vol 33 is actually a hint of a "off screen" scene of Killua and Alluka/Nanika.
Killua must have asked Nanika if she is inside Alluka SINCE birth, or if she ENTERED in Alluka's body AFTER she was born.
And so, we get to that extra page in vol 33.
Nanika said that she was not born with Alluka, and she entered in Alluka's body when she was a few months old, or years old.
And then Killua asks if Nanika knows where she's come from, and she says "I'm from the dark continent".
So when Killua heard about the voyage to the dark continent, he said "Nanika, I'm going to take you back to your home".
That's the only way I can see Togashi putting Killua in this arc, in a way that makes sense.
This also would explain Illumi be here. Illumi came to the black whale to "look after" Killua so he don't die in the dark continent.

I think the end of the chapter was exactly what it seemed, bork making a split second change in judgement after seeing morenas conviction, similar to theta teaching tserri in order to maybe be there to stop him.
Picking X means bork is "free" but Morena and her faction will avoid her, Yes both gives Bork a superpower and an in to monitor the largest threat to her personal wants, just living normally with her friends.
Shes probably hoping she can stop morena within the bounds of the family, especially because "destroying everything" would presumably include...Morena herself.
