Today we are answering all the bath bomb questions you can throw at me, while making some bombs in high humidity and analyzing the results.
Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

Hope everyone is having an excellent weekend! Test day will be tomorrow because I added a few more bombs to the test and I am spending the day with family instead of editing. All about that balance, baby.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Last night I changed up my recipe and used 1/2 tbs water and 1/2 tbs Witch Hazel. Humidity was at 63%. Using half and half worked!! So that could be an option for anyone who has that in between level of humidity.

If I was to start a business selling my own soaps and bath bombs, what would be the appropriate answer as to why I use certain ingredients? I can’t make claims that this ingredient or that ingredient is good for age spots or leg cramps as such. I am confused how to answer people’s questions. Thank you for your reply and most of all thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

When would you add Natrasorb to a bath bomb recipe ? I’ve seen it used when adding extra fragrance to keep the mix dry? And how much would you use in your basic 1 cup baking soda to 1/2 cup Citrix acid? Thanks in advance

By using the water in the Bath Bomb mixture and creating a shell, do you need to wrap the is plastic to keep them fresh for future use, or it this all you need to do? How do you package Bath Bombs for shipping? Is it different then how people buy them in person? Thanks for all the guidance and support in this series.

Hey! I wrap all of my bombs in Muslin cloth. That said, the tester bomb that stays unwrapped so people can see the pattern don’t take on moisture from the environment and lose potency over time. I usually test the unwrapped bomb once I’ve sold the last bomb in a product run to verify that, which gives me an excuse to enjoy a bath. 😅
