"Gig" and the Wildwood Tram Cars

The famous Wildwood, New Jersey Tram Cars have been traveling up and down the 2-mile boardwalk since 1949. John Gigliotti, better known as Gig, has been working with the Tram Cars for over 30 years and this is his story.

I’m really happy that some of the people I remember from my childhood like Gig and Unk Dunk were still doing these jobs in wildwood and my kids got to meet them. It’s an experience you never think about as a kid or imagine all these decades later they’ll still be there with the same upbeat attitude

Much respect to this man. I am currently in Wildwood and am totally fascinated with these trams. Also I am currently a locomotive engineer for Norfolk Southern.. Who knows, maybe someday I will follow in this amazing man's footsteps.

How about interviewing the mechanics? You know, the ones who actually do the grunt work? Without them, the trams wouldn’t run. Gig does PR. That’s it.

I asked to interview the head mechanic, Rick, but he didn't want to be interviewed. And Gig is more than PR. I saw him driving a tram just the other night.

They didn't replace Sunny. They still use it.
