@@freedomlover425 lucky enough I have not yet. Hope I will never have to be in that situation but I practice a lot just in case. I know what the hard cast bullets can do and thats why i carry them.
You picked a great time to comment on this video. After 3 years, this morning I finally followed up with more jugs. th-cam.com/video/s7rcZGuZfQk/w-d-xo.html
Exactly the round that I carry in my XDm when hiking in bear country. Granted, it may not be a 44 magnum or 454 Casull, but I'll take 16 rounds of this in an easy to carry package any day. Thanks for the video; now we need another one to see just how many jugs it will finally take to stop the bullet.
Yeah I couldn't believe it. When I tried this with my .30-06 and 180gr hunting rounds it stopped in the 5th jug. Granted that made a big mushroom whereas this hard cast bullet isn't changing shape, but still! 14 jugs and still didn't stop!
Yeah you could have knocked me over with a feather when I first saw the exit hole... Now it's like a personal challenge to stop one with water jugs, but I'll have to get creative on how to line that many of them up perfectly straight.
I've got a 1911 10 mm Ruger and I've shot 200 grains through it before so I'm going to have to find the 220 grains and try this myself, looks like fun.
Box of these cost an arm and a leg but I got a box of 20 just for bear defense when I'm camping in Alaska. Up here a box of 20 ran $30. Haven't tested the rounds myself yet but I see from this video 15 rounds center mass in a bear is going to stop that fucking bear.
Hard cast bullets will penetrate like crazy, regardless of who loads it, although I do love underwood, this is why HC is used for dangerous game, not surprised it penetrated 14 jugs....
Sam Taylor Yes it is an awesome round, at least in the water. Interestingly in the concrete blocks it was surpassed by the Lehigh bullets, which is why I like to test penetration through more than one media. As far as keyholing, I haven't shot any groups on paper so I can't give a 100% answer, however the bullets have accurately hit what I've been aiming at and made round entry holes in the few targets that show a hole (like the jugs) so I think it's safe to assume they are well stabilized. Next will be penetration in wood. Thanks for watching!
That's a great question and I don't have a definitive answer. Yes you could load the rounds and shoot them, but how well it works depends on two considerations. First, you're officially not supposed to shoot cast lead through Glock's polygonal rifling because they will deposit lead into the bore. That being said, I believe these bullets are gas checked and probably wouldn't be a problem... you'd just have to shoot a few and see. Second is whether or not the Glock's rifling will stabilize the bullet. Heavier bullets are longer, and longer bullets need to spin faster to stabilize. Hickok45 has a video testing some Double Tap 230 grain cast bullets that didn't stabilize with the stock G20 barrel but did stabilize with the Lonewolf barrel. In a later video he tries 200 grain DT hard cast and 220 grain Bufalo Bore hard cast and they work fine with the stock barrel. I imagine the Buffalo Bore 220gr is similar to the Underwood 220gr, but I don't have a stock G20 barrel to test it personally. You should check out the Hickok45 video: th-cam.com/video/VCvJe6QEWNQ/w-d-xo.html Sorry I can't tell you for sure. Thanks for watching!
YES IN a stock glock barrel specifically because of there style of rifling hardcast ammo will caus buld up I ha e a glock 40 I shot 220 buffalo bore and saw the buld up myself I called glock and Kkm glock says dont use hardcast kkm (they make aftermarket barrels) says you can run anything through there barrels (or any aftermarket barrel) no worries
Are you running the stock glock barrel or a LW/ after market barrel? There seems to be a lot of people asking this question. Maybe you could put the answer in your video description. Thanks.
It's a Lone Wolf. I actually don't have a stock G20 barrel to try so I don't know if it would stabilize them or not. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll add the info to the description.
@@TotalOverkillStudios G29 barrel stabilizes them completely fine, just make sure they're coated hard cast rounds, not exposed lead. That'll screw your barrel up.
Max Alaska Glock pistols have ‘ polygonal ‘ rifling in their barrels , and the manufacturer specifically stated that firing “ hard cast “ bullets through the stock Glock barrels is highly discouraged and not recommended, but there an easy fix for around $100 and that is the Lone Wolf barrel ( drop in barrel no gunsmith service or tools required) also I would highly recommend a 22 LB recoil spring as the standard Glock Spring is only 18 lbs . This will assure proper functioning and virtually eliminate any failure to feed with the potent loads that the 10 mm was really designed for.
@EABOY2600 Hi EABOY2600, any issues running the stock 17# recoil spring at all? The only mod I've done to my G20 is replacing the barrel with a KKM black nitrite. I'm replacing my Ruger Alaskan 44mag with the G20.
@@kennethh2430 I run the 220's in my G29, did about 50 rounds with the stock 17# spring, and only 2 jams (my fault for limp-wristing it) Put a 21# spring in the gun, and much better. Be careful of the stock Glock barrel though, they don't like lead at all. You'll want their coated Hard Cast rounds for the Glock Barrels.
Thanks for watching! Three years later I've finally stopped one of these rounds!

That penetration is insane. If I have to put a hurt on a bear or a buffalo, I'll know what to choose.
