@@jerrywbissey1797you sure don’t watch them. He’s out there doing down ups with the team. Don’t know how much more blue collar that can get showing the guys you are willing to do the things you’re asking of them.
We love having Campbell back here in Detroit ! I know a couple guys on his current staff here in Detroit area, and they all say exact same thing. I hope we keep him here for 20 years.
Awesome interview. I knew he was the right man for Detroit in that first interview, and my support has never wavered. He’s the best coach in Detroit history, and I love this man to death. He deserves a lifetime contract in Detroit. ONEPRIDE 🦁
Lifelong Lions fan that saw Dan Campbell play TE for the Detroit Lions. I knew who he was before he got to Detroit. He had his best season in 2006. MCDC is just what the Doctor ordered becoming Head Coach of the Detroit Lions. He is everything that the franchise needed to inject a new vision, a new culture, a new attitude, a new way to prepare, a new way to compete, and finally, a consistent way to win football games. Love Him!! #1
For sure… everyone talks about the knee caps but all i heard was I can sit up here and give you coach speak all day long but I’m not. That’s what i liked most about him and knew he was genuine.
Could listen to stories about Dan Campbell, or listen to Dan Campbell all day. I think authentic is really a great word to describe him. Everything he says he 100% believes. And since he truly believes it, then players and fans can’t help to buy in and believe, too. A great coach and a great leader.
Dan Campbell is his own person - the real deal. Self confidence and actions speak louder than words. I love Dan Campbell and more than that, I love what he has done for the Lions, the City of Detroit and how about the Detroit Lions Fans. ✌️🏈♥️
Dan Campbell sold himself to Lions fans in that intro presser, and it had nothing to do with kneecaps. If you listen to what he said BEFORE that, that's what sold him. Paraphrasing, he said we fans and press (didn't crap on the press) had heard it all before, so he wasn't going to give us win totals or blow smoke up everyone's butts. He knew he had a monumental task ahead of him and he didn't shy away from it by saying (like other coaches) this is a new start and the past doesn't matter because I wasn't here. He played in Detroit during the 0-16 season, and he knew the fan frustration. So he embraced it instead of shying away from it. He understood the assignment, and he was authentic, like everyone says. Had no idea at the time if he could actually coach, but I was willing to give him a chance. Dan Campbell is exactly what this organization needed to turn things around. And kudos to Brad Holmes for sticking with Campbell and making it work. Remember Campbell was hired before Holmes. Most GMs would have ego'd out and found an excuse to get rid of a coach they didn't hire.
I have been a Lions fan since 1967, and we have never had a coach (or GM like Brad Holmes for that matter) like Dan Campbell. He makes NFL football fun again. For his players, his coaches, and especially for the fans. He has built a culture of confidence, competence, creativity, and risk taking that has spread through the entire organization. He is so different from the conservative and bland HCs we have had in the past. Joe Schmidt was the only competent HC the Lions have had before Dan.
X is legit. Love me some Dante Hall. Never got his props because KC wasn’t the KC it is today. Man cut like a cat getting hit with water from a hose. He could flat out beat you in so many ways. One of my favorite Chiefs of all time.
Dan Campbell was there when the Lions had their worst season. I'm surprised he didn't bring it up last season when he was there for their best. He's fun to watch.
I was one of the few Lions fans that loved Dan Campbell's opening presser. I saw it as a guy that would be a leader of men, and seeing the previous regime of Matt Patricia, we definitely needed a leader of men. Which, he this team playing hard from the start his first year, we just didn't have the talent (also thanks to the previous regime) to put them in the win column. But it was things like the Ravens needed an NFL record long field goal to beat us. So, he had this team overachieving his first year, & now that this roster has talent we are seeing the results of that culture building turning into the win column
Dante Hall was the first X-factor in football, creating a place in offenses for players like Tyreek Hill, Zay Flowers, Jerick MacKinnon. Kansas City Chiefs legend.
Dan is AMAZINGLY gifted head coach. An INCREDIBLE leader of men. Super genuine, leads with his heart and grit. So TOUGH. He wants tough players and he teaches builds mental toughness into his team, the right way, with a ton of love and support. He GENUINELY cares about his players and I GUARANTEE he has a lot of great relationships in Detroit and around the league. He has a lot of Dick Vermiel in him.
That whole "Biting Kneecaps" thing was aimed at us, the Lions fans. Dan was telling us this team was going to put in the work and not be pushed around. The Lions had been punked for most of 60 years.
Exactly! That’s how they play and talk. Guys like Goff saying you punch us in the mouth, we’ll respond. Joseph saying, you come in not prepared to play us it’s belt to ass (bta). They all get dirty. WR are usually primadonnas but in Detroit they all block. All our DB will lay you the f out if given the chance. Just physical!
I normally put zero stock in a first press conference for a coach. Most of what is said is boilerplate bullshit, or trying to sound tough because football requires sounding tough. Dan Campbell didn't use words like "tough" or "grit" as cliches. Those words were conveyed as a foundation of how the team was not just going to win, but refuse to lose without a fight. He knew his team would take shots and get knocked down. Tough and grit, to him, was a team that could take that blow and get the fuck back up.
Perfect analysis. Matt Patricia was absolutely an example of a dude who tried to put on this alpha persona to run the show, and he ended up being just toxic.
I became a Detroit Lions fan last year because of Dan Campbell and his team. They don't shrivel in big moments. 4th and goal from the 2, down by 3 with 5 seconds left - they ain't kicking that damn ball. Nor should they, in my opinion. (And not likely they'll do the predictable and highly defensible, handoff and run up the middle, straight into a 3,000 pound mountain of meat either.)...Football is a game. If you have a chance to win a game, you do it. Not pull a Kyle Shanahan, kick for the tie, then lose a coin toss and the game when the other team marches all the way down in overtime. DC took a lot of flack, and yeah he lost that one last year, but the Lions will be back, and more than likely they win, and win again. Football is a game. You play the game to win it. These ultra-conservative coaches who treat it like a business, and stay hidebound to their little cheat cards, they make me laugh at how such bad ass Alpha males are so afraid of losing that they settle for the delusional "safety" of a tie. In short, Coach Campbell actually has a pair, and I respect him, win or lose, for having the courage to go for the win...
DA, thanks for all the great content you've produced and shared with the space ship crew. Since getting to Sirius, dude you're hot as a tea kettle. Listening this morning to you and babcheap talk about Kurt cash stealing Cousins. When Atlanta signed him, everybody said this is the best thing since free porn. This signing was like putting new rims and tires on a 1978 rusted out Ford pinto 4 speed manual shift. Straight rubbish bro.
Belichick was famous for his negative reinforcement. Brady was never safe from Bill criticizing him in front of the entire team. Listen to the things Parcells used to say to Phil Simms. QBs are just like anyone else. Some can't handle negative, but others thrive on it. Everyone's different.
When Tiki brought up coaches who come in with an artificial persona, I immediately thought of Dan Campbell's predecessor in Detroit. Matt Patricia came to Detroit trying to be some Bill Belichick clone. He insulted some of the best players and ran them out of town. He chastised reporters. He answered zero questions. He created the single worst culture in the NFL. We went from that to the always authentic Dan Campbell and possibly the best culture in the history of the NFL. 😊
I do NOT blame Campbell for those botched playes last year. If Josh Reynolds catches a pass, we are having a completely different conversation about Dan Campbell right now?
Bro it was those 4 mistakes in a row. The magic catch that was almost an interception, the Josh 2 miss catches, and the Gibbs fumble. We shot yourself in the foot
