See that's what I've noticed about Detroit offense too. There's a good half dozen guys on that team that can catch the ball one way or another, maybe more, that you'd say "Yeah I would trust them to go thirty yards down" and be reasonably sure they'd take it. St. Brown is like two of them put together.

Been a Lions fan since the early 70s as a kid. I love so many of the great Lions, but St. Brown is now my all-time favorite Lion. He is so dangerous on the field, but what I love most is his relentless drive to be great and a complete willingness to sacrifice his body for the team. He has the biggest heart I've ever seen. It's like putting the heart of Rudy in a world-class athlete. No moment is too big for him. He is so dependable and clutch. He absolutely works his ass off in every physical and mental aspect of the game. He is an inspiration for the team. His high intelligence and natural comfort in front of the camera, and you have a great spokesman for the team and the city. Much love and respect for #14!

He's unselfish. The man is clearly WR1 but he lead blocks on running plays and takes equal pride in that. That resonates with Detroit sports fans. It's the city of the Grind Line and the Bad Boy Pistons. If you're a dirty work man and that helps your team to greatness, you're going to become a beloved figure in Detroit sports lore.
Also side note: EQ deserves a portion of the credit because you can just tell that they have been pushing each other their whole lives.

Amon-Ra St. Brown can recite every WR picked before him years later?! Wow. Smart and strong and fast. The thinking man's WR and it shows on the field. We watch videos where the "IQ" (of the level of play) is featured, and the routes he sees and then takes are routinely tactically amazing. But you have to have a body to go with that mind and he obviously has that. He plays as if he is a coiled spring, Barry Sander's cuts, spins, explosive speed while his strength breaks tackles along with ankles. He is just fun to watch. I hope he stays healthy and plays for many years to come.

In 2023, I had a business trip to Germany. I got off the plane in Frankfort. Going thru Customs, the agents were young men in their late 20's early 30's. They asked me the standard questions, then looking at my shirt, made a comment about the Detroit Lions. They specifically called out Aman-Ra's name, and took the time to explain to me that he his German! The German citizens follow him.

Amon-Ra St Brown’s performance and execution may be the best. I rarely see any of the top receivers diving to catch a ball unless it’s maybe for a touchdown or a much needed first down. Amon-Ra tries to catch everything near him at all times. Others may be considered more talented but they are definitely not out-hustling him.

  • @outtascope

I think this undersells the biggest thing about Sun God this season - He is contributing to every successful play whether he touches the ball or not. From his unbelievable downfield blocking that you don't normally see from a wideout to the attention he typically takes from db1 and db2 opening up opportunities for the other receivers, his stats are through the roof. They just happen to be showing up on teammates sheets. Might be a little early yet, but his name *will* be said in the same breath with Simms, Sanders, Moore and Johnson.

True, but it's tough for Scorpios or Librans to get along with Aries.
The former will get frustrated with the latter sooner than the latter will get frustrated with the former.

@@ecbrown6151 great idea. Jamo is going into his final year on his rookie deal. His next year will be a contract year. jams has shown occasional signs of greatness, and he has also shown a few signs of juvenile stupidity. His next deal could be worth $100+ or it could mean lowball offers from teams that are not willing to pay him top WR money because he is inconsistent. He is also slightly underweight. Enter John Brown. Jamo should hand over $500k to him to train him for the entire offseason and make him a hard, tough, focused catching machine. He will be rewarded with a monster deal in a year...

Also Tim Patrick has been heating up over the past few games. He finished Thursdays game vs G.B with 6/7 rec, 43 yards 2 TD's. Three of his catches were for 1st downs on 3rd and long, and 1 of his TD's was on 4th and goal.

The Saint is no longer the only piece the Lions have on offense with the emergence of Williams and LaPorta, not even mentioning the backfield! His first two seasons he was basically all they had. He doesn't have to be "Him" anymore but still can be when it's needed.

I said it back in his rookie year, along with Goff coming over when they went 3-13-1, the ONLY problem was that Goff had no chemistry with his receivers, and his best receiver was the rookie St. Brown. Once they got their mojo down, shut up. EVERYBODY was ripping on Goff that season, saying he was a transition qb, and I'm the only guy I know who said stfu, he's a top tier qb, him and his team just need time to connect, and every year, they've gotten better. Don't forget, in his rookie season, we had Anthony Lynn as our OC, till he was FINALLY let go, and after that, the offense took off, with Dan calling the plays till Ben took over.

I think St. has the best hands in the NFL, and he’s truly a selfless player putting the team success above personal success!

There's a lot of great receivers in the NFL right now, to the point that week to week the argument for who is the best changes entirely. But one thing I will say is that if you watch Lions games, whenever Detroit absolutely has to have the catch in crunch time, Sun God is where the ball is heading and 99% of the time he makes the play, gets the yards the Lions need and puts the dagger in the other team's defense. The guy has ice in his veins; clutch in the extreme.

St. Brown is way under-rated. With week 18 and the Minnesota game coming Sun and the playoffs, I think St Brown and Williams will be key players. St Brown is of a different kind. His work ethics were instilled as a child and his determination as an extream athelete are evident in his perfection when he plays. He is a team player, and not selfish.
