    Once again Juan to the rescue with an absolute banger of a rework machine jam

    Thank you again for this video, Always very interesting these analysis, and especially to mention the precautions to take in this type of repair. This may appear easy on video, but it doesn't diminish the precision required. Thanks again

      Yes, you won't believe the amount of people who put their boards in an oven and try to fix them that way because someone else on TH-cam told them it would work.
      In this case, the thumbnail is slightly misleading, while we did have many people actually put their board in the oven before sending it in for us to fix, this customer whose board we are fixing in the video did have a local shop fix it and reflow that BGA chip using a proper machine. But it is a problem in general, a lot of people are putting their mainboards in the oven to try and fix them, and it usually ends up causing way more problems.

    Sir, First of all, thanks for this video, and second sir, your long Sony video was amazing. I haven't found such informative videos on any platform on the entire TH-cam. Sir, I request you to make some other long videos on Samsung, LG, or Vizio TVs.

      Thank you for the positive feedback. The long 2-hour video on Sony is simply a combination of all the videos we have made prior in regards to Sony repairs.
      We can most definitely do the same for Vizio, LG, and Samsung, but I would need to double-check and make sure there aren't other videos we need to make first for those brands.

    At least they will get a working set ...... Those BGA machines are the snitz.... I bought a set of P-30 leads like you have , they bent the 2nd time I used them with hardly any pressure ..... The video of them stabbing a can of beans is very misleading , I wasn't stabbing cans I was going thru some clear coat on a board .... Great video as always ......

      Yeah, we have a few spares in our inventory for these situations but it's always a pain. And yes those leads were dropped and the ends bent very quickly. Still usable but they are very fragile indeed.

    Hi thank you for the valuable content that you provide to the community! If you don't mind me asking, what flux are you using a 7:37 in the video? Do you recommend this flux if you were just trying to reflow the chip and not remove/replace it? I noticed you used the orange tube stirri flux earlier in the video as well when you were removing and replacing the chip. Thanks!

    • @NicksTVRepair
      @NicksTVRepair  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So we do use differnt flux for different soldering as you just mentioned. Typically we use the Kester 186 for reflows due to it's viscosity and ability to get all the way under the chips to the center so that all the solder balls get coated although I think we might have used a different kester flux in the video for this reflow but kester 186 is a good one to use. We used the kingbo flux at 4:07 to remove the solder with the iron, this is usually the flux we use for through hole and surface mount soldering with the iron where you can have access to the solder and are able to clean it off. And then indeed we did use the Stirri flux as our no clean flux for the installation of the replacement chip.
      PS good eye for spotting that we use different flux.

      Thanks for taking the time to get back to me! But yea my dad had a computer shop back in the 90's when I was a little kid. He would give me damaged components to play around with with and I remember him mentioning different fluxes have different applications.
      Also you are right, in this video you used Kester 951, which you know is a "no clean" flux. Should I be concerned about cleaning the residue left by the Kester 186 which will be under the chip where I can't access it? I'll be using a hot air station if that makes any difference.
      Thanks again!

    Hey Nick, I am a proud owner of a vizio that has "died 2x". The first time the TV died, i brought it back to life with a... unsavory reflow method.. #reddit. That reflow only lasted temporarily and the tv is back to malfunctioning.
    What would be a better solution, purchasing a net new board, or taking the said board to a tv repair shop (yours naturally)? Based on the materials used with the board it's my understanding that the board eventually will need another reflow is that correct?

    • @NicksTVRepair
      @NicksTVRepair  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Austin,
      You can try purchasing a new board, but unfortunately, you won't find one. These boards are no longer available for sale. The only boards you will find will be used ones on eBay or other 3rd party sales websites. Those boards may already have several years of use and require repair soon. You just won't know.
      What I can tell you is that if your repair only lasted a couple of weeks or months then you didn't actually reflow the board. You heated it up enough to cause a small shift/movement that temporarily reconnected the solder joints that were cracked but eventually with a few thermal cycles it shifted back to its position. It's like cutting a wire and then touching both halves together so they are "connected" but don't have a strong bond.
      When we reflow the mainboard with our machine we really melt the solder down so it is fully liquid and completely removes the cracked joints.
      If you want to mail in your mainboard for us to fix, there are links in the video description to our website. Our repairs always come with a 1-year warranty because we stand behind our work.
