I have this exact TV, had vertical lines. Assuming it was the T-con board ordered one from Ebay now it wont stay on and flashes red light. Maybe I got duped with a faulty T-con? If I put the old T-con in it stays on but with brown vertical lines. Any suggestions before I go ahead and order another T-con?
Awesome vid!! I have same model TV. A storm hit. 😢 Now I got 3 blinking red LED lights. Now it won't turn on. Just keeps blinking red. Factory restore didn't work. Any ideas? ...perhaps the power board inside the TV needs replacing?
On that one weird cable on the main board, ypu press fown the two dots (one to the left and right) and pull the ribbon out, it took me forever to find a manual for this tv
Hi, my sony bravia DKL-55W800B was working one day and the next nothing. No light on the screen, no light on the bottom of the tv. I checked the transformer with a voltmeter and that is fine. Next i changed the LED driver and that wasn't the issue. So I changed the Main Board and nothing. What do you think is the problem. Thank you
@@AirplaneDetective I was going to do that if there were any indication of life on the tv. But, there is no led lit at the bottom of the tv and no screen light of any kind.
hi Sony KD-55XF7596 Bravia and have just changed the Mainboard. i am in a mode which changes Color Red,Blue green and white + Music . I guess the motherboard is new . Do you have am idea what i can do? Thanks in advance
What are the details about the USB firmware upgrade? I have a XBR-55x700D where I replaced the PS and then Main Board and now I am at the GREEN / AMBER blinking light and no sign of life on the screen - no image, no backlight, no text. I downloaded the current FW for my set from Sony. It is a ZIP file. I extracted the ZIP to an 8GB USB stick (the FW is 1.7GB). Only the *.PKG file was on the USB stick. I put it into the set and turned the set on and let it sit for more than 30 mins and when I came back the set had turned off. When I turned it back on, I had the same GREEN / AMBER blink. I am just wondering if I am missing an details.
So first, make sure you follow the directions exactly. This is what I used there, but you may need to navigate back to Sony.com/support to find your specific tv... sounds like you already know that www.sony.com/electronics/support/lcd-tvs-kdlxxw8xxb-series/kdl-55w800b/downloads/W0011108
@kurt miller some other advice. Use a pc to do the unzipping, says a Mac will work, mac didn’t work for me. Do the unzipping and transfer to usb thumb dive on pc. Second, make sure only that target file is on there, the Sony instructions should tell you exactly how large the file will be for your tv. Third, try a few different sizes of usb sticks, this sounds dumb but is often a factor in different electronics I work with. Try a 2 go stick, try a 4 go stick, try different brands, make sure they are formatted fat32. Fourth, if your tv has ordere the USB ports, try all the different ports.
@@AirplaneDetective Actually trying a different USB stick worked. I had already tried two different size / brand USB sticks, so I finally tried a Kingston branded stick, and you will never know how HAPPY I was when I heard the music start to play as the set started the Firmware upgrade. That was the first sound or image I had heard out of the set in almost 3 weeks. I took between 20-30 mins and in the final stages the picture came on and I was able to see the status of the upgrade. All in it cost me about $35 (PS board) and $150 (main board). I really don't know why I had the problems as the set is only about 2-3 years old. I bought a SONY because I believed I would have less problems than a cheaper off brand. Oh well, thanks for the tips and glad we both got our sets working.
Kurt Miller glad it worked out. The different brands / sizes usb drives is something I often encounter at work (avionics). Agree, next tv is going to be something cheap from Costco. Enjoy the tv, stay healthy.
Great stuff. Thank you for that. I hate the fact that these things break down but are usually reasonably easy to fix. I’ve got a similar tv to yours and I’ll give it a go now!
Hello, I have a same TV with the yellow and rede vertical lines on display. Please, you can help me? I replace the T-con board, but the vertical lines is same.
HI thanks for the great info . We have a Sony XBR 85X 850D which was working fine in the morning but when we came back from work was dead and no power or light will come on . We were able to take off the back cover . Noticed there are 4 boards in the back . Tested the 1st board using the multi meter and verified the 110 AC coming in and out . But the 2nd board which we think is the 2ndry power board had 110 Volt coming in but we couldnt verify voltage going out . Now we couldnt test the 3rd( some kind of green tuner board) and 4th board (main board ) . We are in the process of ordering the 2nd power supply board but would like to know how to test the 3rd and 4th board . Any insight in this will be helpful . Donot wanna junk the TV as its just 4 years old and was working fine before went to mars
Thanks for the vid! Did your tv ever show you blinking red lights? Right now mines doing that. I just replaced the timing control board and after that I powered up but it’s just blinking 5 times over and over again. Before I replaced it the tv would power on and I had sound but no picture. Any ideas what’s wrong?
Hey Mikeypl500, I had a very similar issue with my kdl-50w805C. I was watching TV and all of the sudden the colors were melting and there were horizontal lines. Had audio but black screen. Looked online and thought it was the TCON so I took it apart to see the model # and plugged everything back in and now I get the 5 blinking red lights which indicate issues with the BMX or TCON or the panel. what did you end up doing?
@@nellyleon8791 hello, thanks for the reply. With more research I figured out that the replacement TCON board that I got was defective so I figured that was the all around issue. But never got around to replace it agin due to the fact I moved out of state, so I ended up selling it.

i had a problem with my kdl-60nx810 sony I couldnt determine weather the tcon or the mainboard is the problem. i tried removing the cable that goes to the mainboard and the tcon still has the supply then I turned it on, then the screen turns to like color mode testing which displays color such as red green blue and gray and some shadowing. now I'm confused which one to change the mainboard or the tcon.

I try to connect tv to power outlet, electricity power down again. Is that maybe the power board problem or others problem? Hope you can answer 🙏
might be a faulty power supply, it has two parts, one is the blue board in the tv (inverter board) the other main one is the black power brick outside. exchange the brick and see if that helps, also put the power brick behind a surge protected power plug.
That cable is LVDS cable and is you want to release from motherboard so press that 2 small pieces on both corners of lvds port.
