    • @troywalkertheprogressivean8433
      @troywalkertheprogressivean8433 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      And so many people with huge yards they can't manage. Many empty houses are owned by corporations while many others are stuck in some sort of legal limbo.

    • @AB-ol5uz
      @AB-ol5uz ปีที่แล้ว +22

      It depends on the circumstances - for example, if the property owner dies without a will, it can take up to 2 years for probate to finalize the heir(s) of the property (and any other assets they may have), so it leaves the property in limbo with carrying costs (water/electric/property taxes/mainetance, etc. ). If the heirs can't afford to maintain a second property for two years, don't live close enough to live in it themselves (if that's even allowed) and it's not in condition to be rented out - then you can see how things can get out of control.
      If it's someone just buying up properties for future use and not putting money into the property because they plan to tear it down OR want it to help contribute to lowering property values of surrounding homes so they can get them for a lower price - then that is definitely a SHAME ON THEM situation.

    I'm embarrassed for you that you feel the need to apologize for the 'idea' that the job you did was substandard in the eyes of some. It wasn't like anyone lived there. It may not be to neighborhood standards; but then, if that was an issue, the neighborhood should have jumped in and handled it themselves. I thoroughly enjoyed the comradery that played out with all you guys working together. You made it look like it was fun. That is, the challenge of it all. Men usually get together to go fishing or hunting or drinking. You guys in serious play, on all your high dollar equipment, birthed a whole new aspect of communal participation. There may of course be some Internet benefits associated with what you accomplished and will continue to accomplish; but the contribution outshines so many what otherwise occurs as communal networking. Anyone can show up on a Sunday in a clean air-conditioned space and feign brotherly love; but here it was directly demonstrated. Thank you for role-modeling.

    I love the cooperation and comraderie you guys demonstrated. I don’t blame you, you needed all the help you could get! Another jungle tamed!
    P.S. poison ivy doesn’t have to be touched to be dangerous. You can get a reaction by just being in close proximity. Please take precautions!

      Never burn it. The oils will become airborne and you can breathe it in. Guaranteed hospital trip.

      Bro Pro tip: Dont bump your weed eater in the grass us a fence or a rock tree anything but the grass. You will leave burn spots in the grass and make the lawn look like crap.

    Great collaboration guys. Here, from Kevin's channel. This job was arduous and in the time you guys had allocated the results compared to what it was, amazing. It always amazes me how easy it is to criticize rather than show appreciation for the effort you guys put into it. The property looks so much better than it was before you started. Good job!

    Watching y'all race around in this yard looks like more fun than bumper cars. That must have been a beautiful property at one time. I don't understand why gov't doesn't step in since they're losing tax dollars while it rots. Great job and fun to watch.

      It's one of those jurisdictional issues. That area near the Arkansas River, 64/51 and the Oklahoma Turnpike is what you call "unincorporated." It doesn't belong to the city of Sand Springs, nor does it belong to the city of Tulsa, which is, maybe obviously, in the county of Tulsa, but with separate jurisdictional authority.
      Typically, cities and towns have city hall and their own police force. Counties have a county seat, and are largely patrolled by their county sheriffs.
      So say a fire breaks out. Sand Springs probably won't put it out, because it's in Tulsa County, even if there's a fire station a block away. Tulsa won't send a fire company, because it's in Tulsa county. Even if they have a fire station a few blocks away. Tulsa county probably doesn't have fire or other first responders because typically, they don't have the budget, after administration and infrastructure (roads, libraries, courthouse, and so on) is paid for. Most counties I've ever been in, including the one in Maryland I live in, have volunteer fire departments.
      It gets pretty complex, with agreements, contracts, whether or not people pay for first responder services or not, and although there are a lot of similarities, there is no template that all counties follow.
      I saw a hair-pulling, shin-kicking contest between Imperial Beach police department, the San Diego county Sheriff's department, and the San Diego police department, and I think the Chula Vista police department over an unincorporated area near Imperial Beach called Nestor, when I was stationed at Imperial Beach Naval Air Station.
      Nestor did not have a police department, but it was near enough to Imperial Beach, which did have its own police department, and Chula Vista (likewise). It should have been covered by the San Diego Sheriff's Department, but they all said "no, no, it's not us." I think they even went so far as to claim that the Navy, which had its own police force, had jurisdiction, but that went over like a lead balloon.
      On the other hand, if it had been a high-profile case, it would have been "that's our jurisdiction!" "Oh, hell no! It's ours!"
