He missed it! 🤯😜 Floor actually growls the chorus next to Marko's clean vocals. At the end of the last chorus she holds it a bit longer.

The low growl in the chorus isn't Marco(bass). It's Floor doing it.

You need to react their new drummer's (Kai Hahto) old band called Wintersun. Song to start with is Sons of winter and stars live rehearsals at sonic pump studios. It is mindblowing and you can see what Kai is capable of.
I was surprised that you didn't react to Floor growling.
It doesn’t register with a lot of people.
I feel its easier to hear it in the Wembley show but that might just be me.
@@pickboaa The problem with the cruise video isn't that you can't hear the growl, it's that the camera barely shows her mouth in those sections. At Wembley you can see her jaw drop and her mouth rounding into "that" position people associate with growls
I'm not surprised. It's really hard to hear in this version.
@@mattphillips2530 The editing on this video is brutally bad, as it is with a few other concert videos. Whenever someone in the band is doing something cool, we can be sure that the editor will cut away to another band member who isn't doing much of anything at that moment. At the ending of the chorus, the camera should've been on Floor and Marko, instead we get an out-of-focus shot of Tuomas and a barely discernible shot of Kai.
I counted five camera angles, so with that amount of choice, we would think we would get the best of the bunch.
"That bass player can definitely sing" :D. Go do a reaction on Nightwish - High Hopes, Carlos. It has everything for you: Jukka going mad on the drums, amaaazing guitarwork, some of the most haunting keyboard sounds ever and above all Marko singing. One of their best performances and Floor is not even in it :D!!

Same drummer as in Noise, but yes, different from the Wacken concert. Kai took over when Jukka had to stop playing due to severe insomnia. He is still a part of the band though. He handles the business stuff mostly now I think. Jukka is/was an incredibly passionate player. He was very animated up there on the stage. Kai is more of a tactician than a showman. I believe I've read somewhere Kai was Jukka's drum teacher at one time.
You should definitely go for Song of Myself live at Wacken. It’s heavy with a nice breakdown and right up your alley.
The drummer from Wacken 2013 is Jukka Nevalinen, who had to bow out in 2015 due to sever insominia, but he is still involved in day to day band business, The new drummer is Kai Hato who was hand picked by Jukka. They have been friends since childhood, and Kai was the instudion drum teck for a few Nightwish albums and was Jukka mentor

This is why I think the reacter should upfront that she is growling, because they hardly can wrap their mind around what they are hearing. I have just seen a couple of times that someone notice that. Better to tell before they watch, I think.
About Jukka vs Kai. Kai might be better technical, but Jukka is more entertaining to watch. 😊
Kai is faster and more technical, but Jukka, besides being entertaining, I really think he was genuinely better. One thing I notice about Jukka's drumming it that he goes well beyond beat & rhythm, and actually manages to create true melody from the drum kit alone, something I really don't hear from nearly any other drummer. For example, the end of Ghost Love Score (after the Floorgasm), Jukka's drumming seems to have a progression of notes forming a melody.
I miss Jukka.
@@demise0 : Well, I can certainly say that in an interview, last year, Tuomas intimated that Jukka has actually been back on the kit since July, when he "officially" stepped down.
Way Tuomas made it sound, there is hope (not empty, of course 😁) that Jukka may one day come back -- because I miss the Pirate. Though Kai is very good, I really feel Nightwish has been missing something since Jukka had to step down for health reasons.

@@demise0 Kai says himself that Jukka hits the drums harder and also found Jukkas change of beat tricky to master, but they are very good friends and Kai being Jukka's recommendation to place him he's the perfect choice.
Kai has given drumming tips and lessons to Jukka as well as many other drummers. Their style is a bit different, that's all. Both really good drummers but i get the showmanship appeals to many viewers. Nicko McBrain has asked Kai to sit behind his drum kit and have a go at his drums.. what a treat for Kai from his idol! Kai has taken drum lessons also in the States by very famous jazz drummers years ago. I don't think we'll be seeing Jukka back other than perhaps visiting on special gigs.

Edit: Kai (current drummer) took over for Jukka due to health reasons. Kai use to play drums for Wintersun, and is definitely a wonderful talent himself. I do miss Jukka though for the energy he brought.
If you have high hopes, you should react to High Hopes with Nightwish.

Tribal by Nightwish is the heaviest song I've heard from them....man I cant get enough! I literally just started listening to them about a month ago after seeing a reaction video!
The last time we saw Nightwish was in Denver a couple years ago. We were able to be front row in front of Empuu (guitarist). He is so funny and really does connect with fans like you were talking about. All of them play with such passion and joy, I think that's what I enjoy most about their concerts.
You want 2000% Kai being The drum master, Tribal off the new album which I have Human :||: Nature. Kai has said he HAD to add extra drums. Jukka had health issues for many years which was effecting him so he is now their Business Manager. Kai is more technical and totally kicks all kinds of butt on Tribal. Weak Fantasy Rock In Rio Kai going full on, on the drums.
@@MrDjTilo Kai is more the concentrated drummer, jukka was like possesed on the drums and had more interaction with emppu^^ Both are good in their own ways... still miss jukka but health is more important and if he likes what he is doing now , iam happy for him.

As a drummer who hits and grooves hard, it was cool to see you immediately heard a difference between Jukka and Kai. I do miss Jukka's pounding style alot, but I do dig the way Kai plays also. He plays with intent, and he makes you feel like you're constantly and swiftly being propelled forward.

Btw... Jukka hits drums lot harder than Kai Hahto who is present drummer in Nightwish. Kai played in Wintersun before... so that's why I recommend you to react Wintersun. 🤘🏼😎

@Thorgrim : That is probably because Jukka used Tama drums, while Kai uses Pearl drums. I really feel Tama drums has a much heavier sound than Pearl drums do.

@@nicod1361 : Completely agree, 100%. Honestly, my favorite performance of Jukka on the drums? Ever Dream, Wacken 2013. First dozen times, I damn near teared up when his breakdown, coupled with Floor's vocals, made me _feel_ the music, not just hearing it.
I love Marco and Floor in duet. Especially here when Marco do the normal singing and Floor growles.
Another favorit song of me is 'Ghost river'.

This is after Jukka had to leave due health issues and old friend Kai Hahto joined them. He is an absolute beast on drums though, and would highly recommend his work on other bands (Most notably Wintersun, maybe my all time favourite band or at least very close and would recommend checking them out).
Romanticide was my favorite when I first heard it too. And it's still up there for me. But Ghost River......that one knocked it off the pedestal. You must do Ghost River from Wacken 2013.
This was actually on the Nightwish Cruise aboard the M/S Baltic Princess.. It is kinda nice to see them in a more intimate venue.. This is the new drummer "Kia". He used to be the drummer of the band "Wintersun".. He is technically just as good.. But, not quite as animated on stage as Jukka.. It's a shame Jukka had to leave dur to health reasons, but they could not have done any better finding a replacement drummer ..
In my opinion, Kai is more technical where Jukka is more expressive. It is the same as with guitarists. Ultimately it is each one's personal preference which style they like better. Personally I like technical more, both in drummers and guitarists.

Out of the three or four concerts that most reactions come from, the Wacken’13 is the one with Jukka on drums. Kai, his replacement, is in the others. Both great drummers, but I can never get enough of watching Jukka. With his mannerisms and intensity in his face, he’s as captivating to watch as any of the other members. It’s not a knock on Kai, but he’s there to do his job and does it well, but he lacks the stage presence that Jukka had. As far as talent, they couldn’t have found a much better replacement, but when they are live, he doesn’t draw much attention in comparison. He just does his part and lets the other band members take care of the entertainment.
Floor has something only a handful of entertainers have an outstanding stage presence when she is up there she takes over the entire stage with her singing ability and her stage presence she is in a league of her own not many have it she really is a star at the top of her game.
Would love to see some Nightwish reactions from the End of the era 2005 concert! Like the Phantom of the opera song, with their first singer.

I've only known of Nightwish since summer of last year & I'm obsessed with them! I have to say that I, like everyone else miss Jukka very much. I have noticed the difference between Kai & Jukka's drumming & also like Jukka better. That being said, I have read that Kai is a friend of Jukka's & was recommended by Jukka when he had to leave the band. I also recently read that Kai has been a teacher to Jukka in some capacity in the past but I don't know the specifics on that. Please, Nightwish Army....correct me if I'm wrong on any of this!
Jukka had severe insomnia, which can be even life-threatening if not treated. All the adrenaline from drumming and touring made it worse, so he had to do something or risk everything. Kai is his very good friend, so asking him to help was easy and it became a permanent arrangement, since Jukka started getting better and able to sleep again. Kai doesn't have that problem, he sleeps anywhere, anytime... Jukka just stopped drumming, but didn't leave the band. He's now the chairman of the board of the company that is Nightwish (there's actually a couple other companies too).
The thing about insomnia... I've been doing uninterrupted 3-shift work for 25+ years now and I've seen what happens to those who can't sleep. They can go on for a few years with sleeping pills, but the downhill is pretty fast. Finally the doctor has to forbid them from shift work. I'm lucky to have Kai's ability to sleep pretty much anytime :D
While I do understand missing old members, I miss Jukka too. The truth is Kai can out drum Jukka in every way. Technicality, speed, etc.'s And I'm not saying that to bash Jukka in any way, he is a world class drummer. Kai just happens to be one of the best in the business. You can dig up videos of him drumming and he is an animal! (Sons of winter and stars by Wintersun for example, also a drum cam version for even clearer drum audio and visuals) The only thing Jukka was "better" at was showmanship. I miss his antics with the head scarf and standing up mid song, etc. With Kai the songs sound a bit harder and tighter where as with Jukka there seemed to be just a touch moore groove. It is tiny differences in reality and even that might be Tuomas wish for a slightly altered way of playing. I think what he hear s in this video was just the crappier sounding recording, nothing to do with the drummer. Jukka and Kai are good friends anyway so Kai is the perfect replacement in any case.

Aaaaaggghhhh...the cruise version again. I mean yeah it kicks ass but...Rock in Rio version. Floor, boots, tailfeathers, the band. To me it's just a more intense and even sexier. That whole show (until some guest singer crashes the set) is incredible.
I wonder if the smaller venue meant a different sound stage and less space for the drum sound - I usually listen to the Wembley or album version and do not miss the punch. Jukka is definitely a great performer, with a very expressive beast mode, whereas Kai's is much more stoic, but still a different kind of beast. Different styles too. See if you like his work from NW's latest album better - Pan or the Tribal give him a great showcase. Or check out his work with Wintersun, his pre-NW gig where he gets tons of room to show what he's about...
Yes, the audio in this version isn't the best. Both Wembly and Tampere are superior in sound quality as well as camera work for this song.

Yes, that's a different drummer. He is Kai Hahto from Wintersun. Jukka was suffering from severe insomnia and was really really sick mentally and physicaly. I think that around the end of the Imaginarium tour (Wacken was one of the shows). Due to this, he had to step back from the band for a long time. He's back, but behind the scenes helping with everything he can.

I think part of the reason, besides different drumming styles, is Jukka plays on TAMA kits and Kai plays on Pearl. Both are talented drummers though and Kai had more control over his drumming with the new record.

You are so right! And I am getting tired of the Jukka versus Kai convo, reminds me of the Tarja versus Annete, Floor. Kai made sure that he would play everything the way Jukka would, same style, respecting his work and the songs. But he shines imo nontheless. Jukka might be more animated, the kits as you say probably pay a big role in the sound diference but Kai still kicks ass and we are lucky he joined them. \m/

If you really want to see them have fun on stage you should watch I want my tears back at the wacken show. They all have fun on that one and the guitarist has a great bit too

Floor Jansen sang on many Ayreon albums and did also in the live concert called Ayreon Universe Live.
There are a few songs with her singing on TH-cam but you really should see the whole concert. Last year there was another live concert called: The electric castle live. I can recommend all Ayreon albums but start with the electric castle.
Carlos, in that video, she was the second voice, more harder voice...incredibles
Great reaction video. Now knowing what Floor is capable of, is Romanticide still your fav? This is from a Cruise boat in Finland. It is easier to hear Floor growl in the Wembley live performance, so you are partly excused👏👏👏

Got here due to your Nightwish reactions. Maybe you would try another route? Another type of metal I noticed you haven’t covered. Black Metal. Band: Satyricon. Song: Walk the Path of Sorrow. Very interesting, different styles mashed and the beginnings of one of the bigger bands from Norway of the early 90s

Their original drummer left the band due to medical reasons and his friend Kai joined the band who was the drummer in the metal band Wintersun. Kai is just as insane as Jukka!
If you want to continue down the Nightwish express, I suggest listening to one of their newer songs released a few months ago called "Tribal", it has some amazing grunge vocals!
They dont need a small stage for that.nightwish is always connecting with there fans, having fun
The previous drummer, Jukka, had to quit for health reasons. This one is Kai, and though you don't really hear it here, he does have punch. He also has his own health issues, but he tackles them. I can really recommend their cover of Pink Floyd's High Hopes. It is masterful, and you will see what Kai can do in the depths of a bad migraine. He is almost collapsing over the drum kit at some points.
This wasn't Wembley but the Baltic princess 👌 for me the best version of this song! Small venue, better sound...more direct so to say!
It is also on my bucket list, so hopefully they will do it again! (After these times)

You need to hear a duet she made with simone Simmons, in the band Epica. you need to hear Sancta Terra ft Floor Jensen.
She probably looks hotter now because your adoration has grown. And this band has probably one of the best interactions on stage. Their energy always feels very positive and it only makes you love em more. All of em!
Some like The Cruise more, some Wembley (like me).
Watch Wembley as well and enjoy her growls. In Wembley they are more obvious and that's one reason why I do suggest Wembley for first time watchers.

Because of goofy reasons, Nightwish is not as big in the U.S. But there is a benefit to that, because they play smaller venues. The bigger clubs and stuff like house of blues, etc. They might be able to do a level up in venues if they come back this year or next as their new album has done well even here. But either way it is cool because they actually like doing the small venues for a lot of the reasons you mention. It is a different vibe from arenas obviously. The people in that band are cool man. And I think you'll appreciate Kai Hahto (new drummer) after you've given him a couple more tries. Different, but he is top tier too. Jukka is still with the band behind the scenes.

The sound on this performance is not that great, would have been preferable to watch the one from Wembley 2015. Audio quality wise here are the shows in descending order, Wacken 2013, Wembley 2015, Tampere 2015 & for older songs reprises Buenos Aires 2018. Also if you want to see what the new drummer Kai is capable of, watch the drumcam video with his old band Wintersun for the song Sons of Winter and Stars.
Yes, the growling isn’t as obvious as in Wembley version, but this is a better performance.

I know I know 😭 I did catch it after listening again though. A lot of times for me I need to listen to a song several times to catch different things. I’ll definitely be paying attention!

The drums are different, the kit is different. Each one has his own style, and everyone has his own preference. But, trust me when I say Kai is, at the very least, as a proficient drummer as Jukka.
Check out his work in Wintersun (Sonic Pump Studios live rehearsals) if in doubt.
You have to listen to Ghost River
This is my favorite version of this song. But there’s another really good version. But this one hits me in just the right spots. There’s a few reasons why I guess. The small venue is very cool. And Floor is all arms and legs and you really get a sense of how freaking powerful she is physically and vocally. That part towards the end where she raises her arm and after, that is so freaking cool. She’s just so bad ass right there and that doesn’t happen in the other version. It’s just little things throughout that make this one better for me.
