They're also drawn to areas where cats have urinated previously. I had one cat that peed by the front door because a stray had peed on our porch the day before. After one cat passed away (who had urinated in several spots around the house), the new kitten urinated in those same locations due to the smell. I had cleaned several spots thoroughly before we got the kitten, and she didn't go there, only to the places that I hadn't worked over as intensively.
For cleaning up the urine, you're going to need to repeatedly treat the area with hydrogen peroxide. In my case, we're talking about hardwood floors where urine had gotten into the cracks between boards and under/behind the footer strip. I had to literally inject H2O2 into the cracks and crevasses with a syringe, The problem area the kitten has discovered is where urine had gotten behind the footer strip. I had cleaned the floor there, but there was urine that only she could smell. The good thing about H2O2 is that you'll know you've gotten all the urine when it no longer foams up when you apply it. But be aware that may take days of repeated applications/injections to remove it completely!

My 4y/o cat Cinder has been doing this pretty much her entire life.. we think it’s anxiety. She’s very skittish, hides whenever there company over, doesn’t play around our other 2 cats, etc. She actually doesn’t mind the other two cats at all. We recently adopted them, they’re both only a year old and she will cuddle them, groom them, but doesn’t like sudden and loud playing or movements. I have no idea what to do other than seek out anxiety medication, but she’s VERY fussy about meds. Once she had an ear infection, I gently scruffed her to keep her still, and she peed on the floor right then and there. We’ve tried calming collars, they seemed to work but they’re too expensive for us. Luckily, I might get a job at a pet supplies store that’ll give me a discount, and they sell those collars. I’m just wondering if there’s anything I can do for right now that can help with her issue? It’s always on the same spot. Idk, I feel like I’ve tried everything

I have been having some problems lately where my cat started peeing on my carpet and i had no one to ask since my family is not of much help cause they just assume that I did something to annoy her but she likes me the most and whenever I close my bedroom door, she comes and scratches at the door until I open it and this has been mainly happening right after I play with her since she comes to me while in the bed and starts purring while I pet her then she goes out of the room and comes back 5 minutes later and pees on the carpet.
Here is some things to point out, she only ever peed on the carpet once before when we first got her but it hadn't happened for 2 months and now she did it 4 times in a week.
The carpet is green and it has a grass texture.
So from that I had assumed that she peed on it because she thought it was grass but she was always trained to pee in a litter box
I have also thought that she did it because she was frustrated because I close my door and don't let her in but I have no other choice since she pees on the carpet whenever I let her in sp this is I predicament cause I don't know which course of action I should take to prevent it.

I hope this helps, My cat has been peeing on laundry and on shoes and im getting yelled at for it when i clean his litterbox. He keeps peeing and i keep getting in trouble because he's my cat. My mom says she might throw him outside if it keeps happening and its getting on her nerves. My dad said if she does that shes not gonna like the things he has to say about it. Then they said that if the cat gets kicked out then they will probaly get a divorce. I really hope thid helps.
I just put treats around my cats litterbox! I REALLY hope this works. My cat just went to his litterbox and ate a treat! Hope fully he keeps coming back like you said. One question: How many times do u recommend to put more treats on it and when? Also, i put treats around it and in it, i used 4 treats in total, is that enough or should i add more?
If this works then ill keep it in mind for my future since i want to start my own cat shelter. I'll also share this with freinds and family! Tysm for the information.

Of late, i noticed my cat is going into her box, but then aims her pee out through the entrance so i end up with pee on the floor! Her stream of pee has always been higher than the litter box (Even with a high box) so i have had to put shield at the back to prevent that, which worked fine, but now she goes in and turns her butt to the entrance. She's also pooed on my bed a few times. What's causing this strange behaviour and how do i change it?

My cat has been getting hurt every time he goes outside so I have been doing my best to keep him indoors for his own safety, and he has been an absolute gremlin about it but it's my only option if I don't want him to come home covered in bruises, cuts, gashes, or infections because the area we live in has other animals that I'm guessing he gets into fights with. While inside my cat refuses to leave my side willingly, whines at me to follow him everywhere, stops eating if I don't stay with him while he eats, screams at me and scratches at my door till he can get it and tries everything he can try to pee or spray in my room or or someone else's door isn't closed he will sneak in there to do it. Even more recently he doesn't even try to hide it anymore he'll do it right in front of me before I can do anything about it. Other than this behavior he is calm and affectionate, he is not hostile twards other people either although he mainly sticks to me most of the time. He was always friendly but never this obsessive with these nasty habits, he has been doing this for the past few months but he was fine before this even when he had to stay inside, so I have no idea what's wrong with him and I can't afford a vet visit and I don't have anywhere I can send him where he could be taken care of. I don't know of it is because he is not fixed yet but I'm so overwhelmed and I've tried everything I can do but he just won't stop and he keeps me up all night. I love him but I don't know what to do I'm not sleeping at night and I'm always cleaning up after him all over the place and the minute I finally have everything spotless and clean he just does it again no matter how much I reprimand him and put him in his clean litter box.(he's a cat so I guess lectures don't work) I feel so helpless with this, I can't just abandon him but I have not resources or help from my family even though my mom says he is her cat and she wanted him, she does not want to bear the responsibility for him and it has always been put onto me to take care of him since he was only just a few weeks old. Whenever he would get hurt from being outside I would have to be the one to nurse him back to health only to be forced to watch as my mother put him right back outside as soon as he was just barely healed again and repeat this for almost three years now. It's so frustrating that my only options seem to be never sleep and scrub on my hands and knees night and day or let him out and hope he comes back alive and uninjured knowing I will at the very least be having to patch him up again when he comes back. I feel like a bad person no matter what I do, I'm cruel if I keep him inside but I would be heartless if I just allow him to get maimed or potentially run over by the reckless drivers in my area if I open the door. I've got nothing and I don't know what to do.

My cat had his Catheter removed at 2pm and I brought him straight home. They said he had a stress block. I gave him 1/3 cup water and he drank less than an ounce. He hasn’t urinated yet, it’s now 2am in the morning. He looks tired from gabapentin. Should I be concerned? How long should I wait before being concerned that he may be blocked again? Could you do a video on what tests a doctor does to determine a stress block that makes them decide to catheterize them? Do they need to stay in the hospital for 48 hours after their stress blocked urine is released and documented as clear?

I have three cats and one pees on pretty much anything. He’s one of two kittens who were dumped in our yard and the first thing this kitten did we took them in was to Lee on the down quilt. It’s ten years later and he’s had a life of peeing on piles of clothing and chair cushions. Oh, and also on the dog bed. I’m old now and am recovering from extensive cancer surgery and I just don’t have the stamina to keep washing everything he pees on. I’ve taken him to the vet again and again and there’s no medical problems with the cat. I’m stumped. Any ideas?

My cat has been peeing right outside the litter box regardless of its location, we moved to another apartment and at first she was peeing on the box no problem. Now every night she pees right outside of the box. I've taken her to a vet twice, got medicine for her, new cat food to help her pee (in case she had any obstruction) and barely seen any changes. I've noticed that a couple of cats roam around my front yard at night and every night my cat just begs me to let her out so she can roll on the floor like crazy. I'm waiting for her urine test results and we'll see. The vet put her on Gabapentin. All I've noticed is it makes her act strange. Hi Nawal, this is definitely a frustrating situation to deal with. It's important to first rule out any medical issues and then consider behavioral reasons. If it is found to be behavioral, consider some of these strategies for focusing your cat's attention on the litter box: www.healthcareforpets.com/article/urinating-outside-the-litter-box-in-cats-causes-treatment/. Hopefully this helps! Wishing you guys all the best.

Hi! So my cat has had a pee problem. She will pee almost anywhere but the litter box. Shes peed on the couch downstairs, the chair, and we recently noticed she just peed on the carpet downstairs. We had to get rid of our couch and chair unfortunately. We have spent countless dollars on her and shes only 2 years old. We dont know why shes doing it and it’s incredibly frustrating! We did just buy a blacklight and noticed that on another carpet the old owners of our houses cat has been peeing on the carpet. The smell is gone, but you can clearly see the pee. Do you have any advice?? We have tried special litter, multiple enzyme cleaners, smell eliminators and nothing is stopping her! We took her to the vet and she doesnt have a UTI. sorry for such a long message!

Hello, I need advice. I rescued a kitten from birth still with his eyes closed. We nursed it with a bottle and all. Now he is 5 months old. We love him. However, my 5 year old female cat started spraying all over the house two months ago. I have been very patient and tried all kinds of sprays to deter her from spraying and expensive cleaners including shampooing my carpet professionally. Last night I had it! I put her outside with water, food and a blanket inside a box. I am so heartbroken that I decided to put the kitten out for adoption. Is there anything else I can do to stop my cat from spraying and accept the kitten before I adopt him out?

What about if you know the reason your cat is urinating in a certain place because it’s the place she first saw a stray cat outside the window and was traumatised? None of these other practical tips work because she keeps doing it thinking the stray cat is coming back. She started this at 5 years old only and it has been going on now for a year. We are at out wits end. She is otherwise the most placid ragdoll cat you could have.

There’s a high chance your cat did pee on other place mine recently started doing this. It’s so annoying it started with just the closet on the kitchen and now it is on the stove top, bath tub, and top of the laundry! It’s so so annoying 😖. Here I think it’s because my female cat has 2 week old kittens and I feel he’s being territorial about it. I’m going to try the vinegar spray and spray the areas he’s been using. You should try it! Who knows it might work. Because cat pee smell is so so hard to take off even with pet fresh scents.

what do you use to clean up the mess? sometimes cleaning stuff that contains ammonia can make the cat mistake it as pee, because their pee has ammonia. I have a cat pissing on the corner of the room by my bed, and she's doing this because whenever I cleaned it up, she mistake it for "pee". Plus, she has anxiety problems. A lot of people quit on their pets, but it's good to see how much patience you have and I admire you for it. Don't give up, and if you're frustrated try to find a home where someone can care for it or a no kill shelter . It's hard, I know the feeling well :/

Vinegar is an ammonia neutralizer. Mix with water and use a spray bottle to treat pee. No odor after you clean the vinegar up.

I need your help-seriously! Since COVID, I have been taking care of my gramma so she doesn’t have to go out. I’m in my 20s, and have been avoiding her house for as long as I can remember for three reasons: 1) she smokes in the house, 2) roaches...everywhere...and 3) her 5 cats (mostly all old) pee in the house all over the place. She thinks it’s funny. It’s not. She can’t smell it but I can. You walk in her house, spend five minutes, then have to bathe in bleach just to get rid of the stench. It’s gross. She won’t change her ways, but I was hoping that at the VERY LEAST I could get the cats to stop pissing all over the place. The smell is the worst. She’s nose blind. She claims she has “tried everything” to get them to stop, but I doubt it. She doesn’t mind this behavior. About four days ago, I cleaned litter boxes and switched to a different brand. The litter boxes don’t stink anymore thankfully but the cats do still pee wherever they please. So what I’m asking is that since this is old behavior/routine for these cats (she says only 2 or 3 of them do it) is there a way I can fix it? I doubt they have any medical conditions. They seem to just think it’s okay to do this since she permits it. I’m going to try the treat idea and see how that helps. ANY suggestions help sos

This sounds like a horrendous situation! But I am glad you are taking initiative to take care of your grandma.
I have the same issue with my cat, he started doing it about 3 months ago and I am also searching for a solution. I am thinking of increasing the number of litter boxes and maybe change the type of litter to unscented. It sounds disgusting to me but apparently it is more appealing to them to pee on unscented litter. This might make sense in my case since my cat stasted peeing everywhere after he became an indoor/outdoor cat. He picked up some bad habits...
If you find any solutions please let me know as well!

This man said, you may use pills ,basically what he mentioned, medicine, that may decrease anxiety in your cat......Do you see the problem there.......we all know or should know that what one medicine heals, will also have adverse side effects that can lead to other ailments which will cause you to need other medicines to treat that do the same.....He didnt say will he said may.....that's liability stuff right there lawyers use.....truth be told when you give something living a drug it will have an effect on it and you may see a change but you dont know what it's really feeling, just cause you see a change and you like it is it worth giving it something that will give it organ failure, cancer,or other ailments that only come with prolonged use...you may see a change you like ,but do you really know at what cost, people that never did meth and never will allow their children to take adderall and vivance because they believe their child has a fake made up not real illness called add or adhd and think because there kids appear calmer it must be so but they will never know that their child is not on street meth but pharmaceutical meth and what they see as improvement is actually harming their child.because it's not called meth and legal and categorized different they argue it's not. But that's their ignorance...its sad really.so before you choose to allow some pill pushing veterinarian to place your animals on pills.determine if the ailment is worth the risk of the medicines adverse effects, which means ask for the msds or whatever information they carry so you can determine that with what you need to best make that choice.i imagine veterinarians are like doctors and are hooked up with particular pharmaceutical companies to use there brand medicine...knowing is half the battle,GI Joe.lol and remember no matter what change you see in the animals it cant speak and tell you how it feels and unless its hairless you cant see and visible damage that may appear on its skin.....not trying to put this man down in this video at all,I just want to point out something I felt he was lacking of being said....I'm sure he went into this with the intentions of doing something good and he didnt mess that up at all...Stay United Not Divided...

Teach your cat to go outside! Litter boxes are for kittens to learn how to go outside! Would you wanna use a nasty stank litter box? Neither does the cat, and those turds an your bed are protests...

No cat's should not go outside in all cases. Where i live it is houndred of cats and animals that can hurt my cat and many of them get run over by an car and people take cat's to sell illegaly so i would never risk that. So you are false

How does litter box training teach them to go outside lol It's literally teaching them to use the box. Of course it has to be cleaned daily because if you have a "nasty stank" litter box you're obviously doing something wrong. And statistically, outdoor cats have shorter life spans so, no thank you.
