Yeah I noticed that too. Not sure if it was intentional for the developers to do that but it really feels like Mephiles is quite literally hidden. Essentially forgotten and abandoned.
Maybe Shadow likes big's whole lifestyle of just hanging out and fishing. Would be kinda funny in my opinion if the big bad hedghog just really likes to go fishing every once in a while. Sure as hell beats the stress of saving the world so often.
Shadow is actually a chill dude if youre not being a nuisance like sonic or actively getting in the way. He even respects Eggman's degree in Evil Engineering from the University of Villainy by consistently referring to him as "Doctor"

I didn’t mind sunset heights and Chaos island (especially cause the levels were really good) but we definitely needed a level from Shadow 05 plus another boss fight, like with infinite, that could have been cool. Can only hope there will be free dlc in the future like frontiers.

i dont really get the complaints about chaos island not making sense. Shadow Generations was released 13 years after sonic generations, so it has the cool opportunity to actually pull levels from the future rather than just the past. Also it was never like an established rule that the character had to be have been to the level before, classic sonic goes to a bunch of levels he doesn't have, and like sonic's friends appear outside of levels they haven't been to in previous games. (and in generations 3ds, sonic gets radical highway and biolizard) But like i get wanting a shadow the hedgehog level tho, like digital circuit would have been cool
well if that one theory is correct the Black Arms are a race of Ancients that got corrupted, so maybe it's some sort of respect from black doom to honor his kin?
What people don't realize is that Shadow having a Chaos Island stage despite not being in Frontiers is *most certainly* a reference to Sonic having a cyber stage based on Sky Rail despite never being there himself. /s

It is interesting that doom knows enough about using chaos emeralds to teach other people how to do it, when the ancients seem to have been unable despite them being from their planet. Id speculate about a connection between him and The End, but their modus operandi is completely different.
This game is one of the reasons why I don't watch trailers anymore. I had a pretty fun time guessing what the next level might be this way, however that also means I missed the pre-release animations until after I already beat the game so...
Yeah i'll probably avoid watching all the trailers before a game releases. They basically spoiled all the zones and left no surprises :/ Maybe I should watch only the initial gameplay trailer when they announce a game from now on?
This was a super fun stream, lost a lot of sleep for that night but it was worth it seeing Rads reactions and genuinely having a fun time despite the issues he has with the game. Overall even tho there was some missed opportunity with levels and what characters/bosses could have shown up and how much lore could have been developed. (Plus I do feel it should have been a bit longer) This was amazing, so much love went into the level desgin and animations and bosses. The interactions with shadow and characters was really sweet and the open area was really neat and there’s plenty to collect. Plus it looks so beautiful and the soundtrack is fantastic. So happy shadow got his time to shine after all these years. Hope they continue to keep it up and improve further as much as possible like all company’s should do. ❤️🖤

The theme around 1:33:00 I believe is from shadow the hedgehog although it's an odd remix and possibly a mash up with time eater. Its the chaos blast theme, when you glow red, "aaaAARG, death to all who oppose me!"
That makes so much sense. If it were from SA2, it would have been called "Final Chase". It's just confusing because the levels are otherwise in chronological order, so you naturally assume this level is the SA2 one.
Is this a joke? The music from the Ark is Final Rush from Sonic’s level in SA2. Plus the some of the trailers in the marketing were comparing the Ark level to SA2 so it’s very much obviously a level that’s meant to be from SA2
After beating the game myself, I kinda wish the final stage had been Westopolis instead of Radical Highway Not only to represent the Shadow game, but because it’s essentially the place where Black Doom began his manipulation of Shadow ending it for good where everything started, y’know

More than anything I'm just very worried about Sonic Team starting to force feed that level like they do with Green Hill Zone. If Shadow's next game has up to 9 or 15 Radical Highways I'm going to lose my mind.

I think Chaos Island could've easily been replaced with Digital Circuit, Cryptic Castle or Lava Shelter. But they probably decided to prioritize other games since Black Doom is already the main villain. Either that or make it so all Radical Highway sections before the final level happen in different Shadow the Hedgehog levels.

Shadow The Hedgehog 2005 is my favorite Sonic game and I'm so mad that there isn't any levels from that game in this. They could've used the Doom Wings for levels like Sky Troops or Cryptic Castle. It would've been really cool to use the Doom Surf at Prison Island. If they wanted to make a normal Sonic level from the game than Westopolis, Central City, Glyphic Canyon, or maybe even Cosmic Fall or Space Gadget would've been great choices.
It's funny that you would mention "Cosmic Fall" or "Space Gadget" but ignore the fact that "The ARK" is literally one of the levels in "Shadow The Hedgehog" the only thing is you aren't riding "black volts" this time around since it wouldn't make any sense from a story perspective and using the black wings and chaos sphere is a better substitute anyway. Also there is a lot of aspects taken from "Space Gadget" and even with those indoor sections for me feel like "Cosmic Fall" there just isn't stuff constantly collapsing. Like I get being unsatisfied with that particular level being chosen but why would "Cosmic Fall" or "Space Gadget" be any more satisfying for you? Also "Westopolis" and "Central City" would feel just like "Radical Highway" to a point where I mistakenly thought that was where Black Doom was sending Shadow up until the level itself.
@@GAHAHAHHYou know what? Now that a couple days have passed I can absolutely say that I was coping REALLY hard when they didn't include a full level from Shadow's own game. Getting an S rank on most of these levels, especially the first level made me see the similarities of Shadow's own game. Still would've preferred it if they gave us an actual level from the game though. If they are willing to make a pack of more levels including levels from Shadow's game then I'd love to buy that if it ever does happen.
Forces is a great example for how not to do a boost game, so it’s a good comparison to make when talking about the boost formula. I think it’s worth pointing out how excited Rob was for that game. I remember him talking about how excited he was. So I think the disappointment still burns.

Especially for Infinite, Chaos and the avatar. And I just hoped that we'll get a game as good as Sonic Generations along with them since, you know, THEY ADVERTISED IT "FROM THE CREATORS OF COLORS AND GENERATIONS". The game didn't even have half of the quality Generations had and Chaos 0 got no boss, Infinite didn't even get a final boss and idk what happened to him after the events of Sonic Forces because they never flipping show it in game and the avatar controlled badly and had the same short, linear and automated levels as the rest. The whole game just felt short, underwhelming, way too linear and way too automated. In fact, I was so frustrated by it that I flipping switched to the Rayman series till Sonic Frontiers released and played Rayman 2, Redemption and Origins (great games and don't regret playing those though).

1:27:00 By all accounts it doesn’t make sense, Orbot originated in Unleashed and Cubot in Colours, and Eggman seemingly abandoned them in space when he found the Time Eater. The only game they _could_ have gained knowledge of Shadow is, unironically, Colours DS of all games. Colours DS, unlike Generations and Lost World on 3DS, is actually canon. Shadow appears in that game, so a possibility is they met directly off screen (Omega was terrorising them at one point).

I would say a map issue. There would have been one and chaos island would have unlocked right before going up radical highway. But that would throw off the set number of challenges to get the keys.
Well now I guess I can bump the rank from Just a C+ to a B for I still don't like the 2D side gameplay and the fact that I have to boost on rails as to tapping the button to earn speed on rails like in the older games. The automation I can slightly forgive if it doesn't happen too often.
Radical Highway was the first level, third level, seventh level, and final two levels and boss fight. Green Hill Zone 2.0 is crazy I'm so frustrated because the game starts off so incredibly strong.

Since when has Shadow set foot on there and why we haven't heard about it before? - No real Shadow the Hedgehog representation in form of a level, something like Sky Troops, Digital Circuit or making the last level a mish mash of the Black Comet levels would've been great. - I don't like Mephiles' voice. - Using Radical Highway as the last bloody level when we've been sent to it multiple times in other levels, it feels cheap. - The trailers spoiling everything cuz of course. Chaos Island being there is 1. Because its an easy way to reuse assets, and 2. Gerald says the places here are both from the past and future, it never said it was specifically related to Shadow. By all accounts it could be related to Black Doom.

This game is one of the reasons why I don't watch trailers anymore. I had a pretty fun time guessing what the next level might be this way, however that also means I missed the pre-release animations until after I already beat the game so...

This was a super fun stream, lost a lot of sleep for that night but it was worth it seeing Rads reactions and genuinely having a fun time despite the issues he has with the game. Overall even tho there was some missed opportunity with levels and what characters/bosses could have shown up and how much lore could have been developed. (Plus I do feel it should have been a bit longer) This was amazing, so much love went into the level desgin and animations and bosses. The interactions with shadow and characters was really sweet and the open area was really neat and there’s plenty to collect. Plus it looks so beautiful and the soundtrack is fantastic. So happy shadow got his time to shine after all these years. Hope they continue to keep it up and improve further as much as possible like all company’s should do. ❤️🖤

That makes so much sense. If it were from SA2, it would have been called "Final Chase". It's just confusing because the levels are otherwise in chronological order, so you naturally assume this level is the SA2 one.
Is this a joke? The music from the Ark is Final Rush from Sonic’s level in SA2. Plus the some of the trailers in the marketing were comparing the Ark level to SA2 so it’s very much obviously a level that’s meant to be from SA2

More than anything I'm just very worried about Sonic Team starting to force feed that level like they do with Green Hill Zone. If Shadow's next game has up to 9 or 15 Radical Highways I'm going to lose my mind.

I think Chaos Island could've easily been replaced with Digital Circuit, Cryptic Castle or Lava Shelter. But they probably decided to prioritize other games since Black Doom is already the main villain.
Either that or make it so all Radical Highway sections before the final level happen in different Shadow the Hedgehog levels.

Shadow The Hedgehog 2005 is my favorite Sonic game and I'm so mad that there isn't any levels from that game in this. They could've used the Doom Wings for levels like Sky Troops or Cryptic Castle. It would've been really cool to use the Doom Surf at Prison Island. If they wanted to make a normal Sonic level from the game than Westopolis, Central City, Glyphic Canyon, or maybe even Cosmic Fall or Space Gadget would've been great choices.
It's funny that you would mention "Cosmic Fall" or "Space Gadget" but ignore the fact that "The ARK" is literally one of the levels in "Shadow The Hedgehog" the only thing is you aren't riding "black volts" this time around since it wouldn't make any sense from a story perspective and using the black wings and chaos sphere is a better substitute anyway. Also there is a lot of aspects taken from "Space Gadget" and even with those indoor sections for me feel like "Cosmic Fall" there just isn't stuff constantly collapsing.
Like I get being unsatisfied with that particular level being chosen but why would "Cosmic Fall" or "Space Gadget" be any more satisfying for you? Also "Westopolis" and "Central City" would feel just like "Radical Highway" to a point where I mistakenly thought that was where Black Doom was sending Shadow up until the level itself.
@@GAHAHAHHYou know what? Now that a couple days have passed I can absolutely say that I was coping REALLY hard when they didn't include a full level from Shadow's own game. Getting an S rank on most of these levels, especially the first level made me see the similarities of Shadow's own game. Still would've preferred it if they gave us an actual level from the game though. If they are willing to make a pack of more levels including levels from Shadow's game then I'd love to buy that if it ever does happen.

Forces is a great example for how not to do a boost game, so it’s a good comparison to make when talking about the boost formula.
I think it’s worth pointing out how excited Rob was for that game. I remember him talking about how excited he was. So I think the disappointment still burns.

Especially for Infinite, Chaos and the avatar. And I just hoped that we'll get a game as good as Sonic Generations along with them since, you know, THEY ADVERTISED IT "FROM THE CREATORS OF COLORS AND GENERATIONS". The game didn't even have half of the quality Generations had and Chaos 0 got no boss, Infinite didn't even get a final boss and idk what happened to him after the events of Sonic Forces because they never flipping show it in game and the avatar controlled badly and had the same short, linear and automated levels as the rest. The whole game just felt short, underwhelming, way too linear and way too automated. In fact, I was so frustrated by it that I flipping switched to the Rayman series till Sonic Frontiers released and played Rayman 2, Redemption and Origins (great games and don't regret playing those though).

The only game they _could_ have gained knowledge of Shadow is, unironically, Colours DS of all games. Colours DS, unlike Generations and Lost World on 3DS, is actually canon. Shadow appears in that game, so a possibility is they met directly off screen (Omega was terrorising them at one point).
Granted I wish sonic team acknowledged the ds games more. Thats the main issue

I would say a map issue. There would have been one and chaos island would have unlocked right before going up radical highway. But that would throw off the set number of challenges to get the keys.
I highly doubt it was because they didn't want to, but because they didn't have the time. Why else is Chaos Island and Sunset Heights here?
Well now I guess I can bump the rank from Just a C+ to a B for I still don't like the 2D side gameplay and the fact that I have to boost on rails as to tapping the button to earn speed on rails like in the older games. The automation I can slightly forgive if it doesn't happen too often.

Black Comet should’ve been the final level still enjoyed the game just wish it had a Shadow The Hedgehog level.

game peaked at rail C... O6 levels where good
Overall good experience but still dropped the ball with stuff like:
- Chaos Island like seriously why is it here? it doesn't make sense! Since when has Shadow set foot on there and why we haven't heard about it before?
- No real Shadow the Hedgehog representation in form of a level, something like Sky Troops, Digital Circuit or making the last level a mish mash of the Black Comet levels would've been great.
- I don't like Mephiles' voice.
- Using Radical Highway as the last bloody level when we've been sent to it multiple times in other levels, it feels cheap.
- The trailers spoiling everything cuz of course.
Other than that, it a good game worth buying since it's also packaged with Generations (I wonder why hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...)

Chaos Island being there is 1. Because its an easy way to reuse assets, and 2. Gerald says the places here are both from the past and future, it never said it was specifically related to Shadow. By all accounts it could be related to Black Doom.
I think its up there as one of the best Sonic games. Its amazing
