      Vehicle Virals hey would you prefer a 335i or a 370z performance wise and looks

    • @VehicleVirals
      @VehicleVirals  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Obviously my opinion will be biased 🤣
      In all seriousness, it depends how you'll be planning to use the car. A BMW 335i is very easy to tune for performance and relatively cheap too. Of course maintenance can be a concern when increasing power which can add up to be expensive if you don't work on your own cars.
      The 350z is great to mod for looks with much more aesthetic parts available for the platform. Owning costs are considerably lower and repair jobs are not as expensive as the 335i. And of course it's an excellent choice if you're looking to get into drifting.
      Looks wise they both look good in their own way. The 335i looks much more classy while packing a punch under the hood, and the 350z looks like your typically Japanese car that is screaming to be modded.

      Filip Peric Yep you own a good one, and you understand ! You got to have something really good to beat a tuned 335i BMW. A joy to drive. u change oil every 10000, .service every 15,000 ( if your not a mechanic) with ''super cars'' its only 1,500 ... if you cant afford one . or cant drive, don't get one! Don't waste it ! Some people should.take the bus.

    I've owned my 07 335i since November of 2014, and every time I get in this car, I love it more and more. Everything about this car makes me happy. It has great, timeless body styling. It has a classy, beautiful, modern interior. It makes great power from the factory, and the N54 comes with forged crankshaft and rods, and is capable of handling around 700hp with stock internals, although don't quote me on that exact number. The car handles like a dream, and like you mentioned, the stiff steering is actually amazing. When I think back to the cars of the 90s that I was obsessed with as a kid, Supra, 300zx, 3000gt VR4, this car reminds me so much of those. When I hear this car start up in the morning, I'm taken right back with the sounds of the engine and the pull of the turbos as they spool up. Personally I went with the sedan model, and the versatility of this car is amazing. It's a fast sports car when you want it to be, or a classy, comfortable family car when you want it to be. The only weakness is winter weather, but you could go with the 335xi if you really wanted! Would't trade this car in for anything, and will probably drive it until the wheels fall off, even if someday it just becomes a weekend cruiser.
    On a side note, I would be prepared to put aside about 2-3k a year for emergency repairs and maintenance if you're over 80k miles, plus more if you get that modding itch. Of course, that estimate is just based on my experience from 80k miles to 115k miles currently, over about 4 years. To me it's worth it though.

      Casey Sales disagree. I have an 09 335i. I had a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP prior to it. I could tear that car apart and put it back together on a regular basis but couldn’t with this car. Primarily bc there are so many custom tools you have to buy. It doesn’t have a spare, the run flats don’t drive right after a bit and the wheel lock is a total pain on the ass. I have to have the BMW 335i towed on a regular basis when it was my daily driver. As a Sunday car, this is an awesome vehicle. As a regular everyday vehicle, I had the same repair issues he discusses in the video that he had too.

    I own a 2007 335i Sport - its still awesome and I still get comments - as you say people think it is new. Mine has 187K miles on it; I have had to do a lot of maintenance starting at about 110Kmiles. I had oil pan leak, oil filter housing leak; replaced the plastic tubes for Coolant (they basically crumbled), replaced injector coils, now I have another oil leak (need to take it in and find out where), replaced ball joints and controller arms, it goes through tires pretty fast but I have those low profile tires. It does seem expensive everytime I have to do a little work, like its $600 every time I go in LOL! But I still love the car for its driving characteristics... its just so old now I'm shelling out a lot of cash to keep it on the road. I am passing it on to my daughter and hope with her much less driving I'll get some more time out of it. But I love the car... its fast to start, fast in a stretch and corners like crazy... all around great driving experience... probably next time I want a sports sedan I'll look at another one with about 40-50K miles (newer model) used and sell it at 80-90K miles before all that works starts again.

    Got my 335i convertible with 75k miles on it a few weeks ago and loved every second of driving it ever since. People do tend to think it's new, and it does get noticed. The exhaust sound when the roof is down is now my favorite sound in the world. Mine is at 110k miles now, high pressure fuel pump died on me 2 years ago but it's common, check if it's been ever replaced plus all other common N54 things mentioned on forums. My take is with regular service and oil changes every 5K the engine should be fine at this mileage.

THese specifically always catched my attention, i now own an e92 and i love each time i look at it, each time i sit on it. I get compliments and i turn heads while driving a simple 320d m sport . Bought a 2009 e93 m3 with 65k in Melbourne red and has been nothing but reliable. One thing I miss about the 335i despite its problems was the n54 engine and it’s torque, I had mine tuned to 500 HP and paddles shift instantly with a stage tune. Car is a beast. • @BigUriel
      @BigUriel 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Phoenix Shank
      When you remap a car turbo lag inevitably increases. Turbo lag is defined by the time it takes for the engine to reach the maximum torque it's capable of producing at that RPM when you request full load, maximum torque will be reached when maximum turbo pressure is reached so when what the remap does is essentially increase boost pressure it's going to take longer to reach max pressure.
      The stock engine runs 7 psi IIRC, you can remap it to something like 10-12 for 360-380hp and that's more or less the limit on the stock hardware. Whatever amount of time it took the engine to reach 7psi it stands to reason that it will take more to reach 10 so turbo lag is increased, even though it shouldn't take any longer to reach 7psi after the remap than it did before so you're never really going any slower for it.

    • @kdog5471
      @kdog5471 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BigUriel nah mane you can remap up to 18 psi on pump gas!

    • @BigUriel
      @BigUriel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could but you don't since you don't get any more power for it just higher intake air temperatures.
      The car will always "run" on "pump gas", just not that well. Even the stock engine shows a considerable performance increase from regular to premium, even more so remapped and people are usually injecting methanol/water by the time they get past 400hp on a stock N54.

    I absolutely love my BMW 335i E93 - M Sport (Convertible) N54 engine!
    I first started my BMW journey with a 323i E36 nothing special but l stared to understand what people mean about BMW quality, ride etc
    Then l moved onto a 330i E46 and boy did l love that car it was just an arm chair on wheels but if you exercise your right foot then it would move.
    And now we get onto my 335i E46 convert and my god its wonderful its a wolf in sheep's clothing, you can slap it in D mode and do no more then 1,500 RPM all day long then if you want a little fun DS+ mode, BUT!
    When you Put it in M mode MY GOD its amazing the throttle response is pin sharp the body roll is almost none existent and with the paddle shift having fun on country roads and leaving it in a high RPM is just intoxicating from the instant power but it also lets you have a little fun as well without cutting out the power immediately and with the top down that experience is taken to a whole new level!
    And now we get to the sound with the top down and WOW, HOLY F*** is all I have to say, even at low RPM is sounds lovely but the sweet spot for me is 4,000 RPM putting your foot down at those rev's is magic all the way up to 7,000 RPM and at the point your ear's are ringing with the exhaust :D

    Having owned a 07 335i (n54)for just over 2 years I can agree for the most part with this video. It’s really great car and it doesn’t seem like it will ever age but reliability is absolute shit. I’ve fixed everything from the cylinders to the starter and it seems like every week something new goes wrong. Also being 19 and feeling like I’m going to live forever, I can confirm it will do 155

    I definitely love this body style over the newer bimmers. I have a 2009 335i E92 Coupe. And it's beautiful!!! The F models don't look nearly as nice. And the most modern bimmers with their GIGANTIC kidney grills are just ugly. This is the best looking 3 series BMW has EVER made. Once you put coilovers on, and lower it, this beast looks nasty fast. And it is! Finally, the N54 engine does NOT have issues. It's the piece AROUND the engine which seems to have so many problems. The N54 with its forged internals is bulletproof. Also, the convertible has a much smaller interior than the coupe. My backseats have a lot more space than what you showed here, and my rear seats fold down for a ton of cargo space if needed.

    What a very good review. I'm enjoying my 2012 BMW 328i convertible with M Sport. Black sapphire metallic and dakota red leather interior with 50k miles.
    I love everything about the car's personality. Love the N52K engine, love the hard top roof convertible mechanism, love the Harmon Kardon sound system and it definitely does turns a lot of heads -people even stop to ask me questions. Lol people even dance to the music I play whenever I'm stopped at a red light. It's so much more fun of a driving experience with the top down. Yes, people also ask me what year my BMW is and they always tell me they think it's brand new.
    Only cons I have is the cramped rear passenger space. It's very cramped but it's doable. I'm 6' tall and I sit comfortably without anyone in the back, but if someone is sitting behind me..I am noticeably uncomfortable. Like you said, I just use the rear seat space for placing groceries, luggage and my backpack.
    A suggestion I'd like to offer to anyone who has or is looking to get one, maintain care of your top before something happens to it. Nothing bad happened to mine...but it's expensive to fix if it ever does go bad. To take care of the top, you need to apply quality lubricant along the rubber seals and even a permeating oil like Kroil Oil onto the joints within the convertible mechanism. This ensures a smooth operation during the open and closing sequence of the convertible roof and less squeaking noises when driving.

    I had one before with N54 and it leaked oil like no tomorrow. A friend of mine works as a salesperson at Porsche and a 2012 335i coupe with M package got traded in for a Cayman, and before it ended up as a “Porsche reject” (they don’t want non-Porsche used cars on their lot so they boot them off to auction) I traded my leaky one in for it. It has N55 and it’s miles more reliable.

Its put me off newer model cars forever. I was hit hard with repair bills before I was able to sell it. Oh did i mention the twin turbo popping once a year?
