      exactly, don’t sleep on the A models! I have an 2018 A4 and the torque on that thing for just a 4 cylinder turbo is insane. I've consistently times 4.9-5.1 seconds. makes you wonder is spending $15k more for an S4 that does about a half a second quicker really worth it?

    Great video! What app do you use for 0-60 times? Also, as an owner of a previous gen S6, it’s interesting to see that the new gen of S6 & S7 are slower. Multiple outlets were able to get 3.7 out of the last gen S6.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I use a Dragy! It is a device that connects to a ton of satellites to pinpoint a precise location. I connect the dragy to the dragy app on my phone to see the data and use the device. I really enjoy it and there are leaderboards and stuff too, it's really cool. Yes, I got to drive the old S6 and I agree, it felt quicker and was quicker due to that 4 liter v8 (it actually made more power than the current model too on paper), it's just so responsive and I think they simply underrated the turbo v8 more than the six. I also think that air density has a big role here. I didn’t mention this in the video because it was already 14 minutes long, but my guess as to why the 4 and 3 liter out performed its rating much more than the 2.9 liter was because they do not rely as much on boost. My density altitude was super low (like negative 300, the lower the better), boost wasn't as crucial as it would be in higher DA conditions as oxygen was plentiful when I did the test. If this were 1000 DA, I could bet money that the S7 would have put up a similar time to what it did here, but the A7 and A8 probably would lose a tenth or two. I'm also not the most knowledgeable about this stuff, that was just my guess after reading things online. I bet with a higher DA, the old s7 v8 would be well matched with the new model, but there's no replacing that sound!

    • @ChadyB16
      @ChadyB16 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Realistick you may not be the most knowledgeable, but I didn’t even know air density was a factor in these sorts of things lol. Thanks for the explanation! I’ll have to look into Dragy. • @RYwoodview
    @RYwoodview 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    My 2012 A7's factory spec is 5.4 seconds to 60. That is evidently in auto; shifting got me ~5 seconds. Got an ECU and now in auto it dropped to mid-4 seconds. Love it's smoothness and precision on the road. I just see no reason for a S7. The 7's are hands down the most attractive Audi's of all.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question and thank you, I can't speak too much for youtubers, but every major outlet like Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Automobile, Edmunds, etc. use 1 ft rollout. It's the standard that most use so I stick with it so people aren't questioning why they heard that the car does it 2 or 3 tenths faster than what I got. Even Drag Times (one of the biggest drag racing channels) will use 1 ft rollout times in his thumbnails at times because that is the one that people use to compare to other times achieved for the car. Using 1 ft rollout let's me compare apples to apples with other outlets and it looks a few tenths better than if I used the orange! Let's face it, most people have zero clue what 1 ft rollout is so why bother changing the standard.

    Next time, measure them from idle (real life conditions), and then launch. Almost never in a real life scenario will anyone use launch off a light. Audi's tend to have much worse results from idle. Launch optimizes their times for marketing purposes. For me, true performance is the time you get when you floor it in sport mode. The 1ft rollout method is only used by Car and Driver.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1ft rollout is used absolutely everywhere (as in major Automotive Journalist outlets), not just Car and Driver. Also, not saying that I street race (because I don't), but I have seen many. Almost every time, people brake torque or use some sort of launch control or two-step system if they got it, unless they aren't really going for it or they are doing a roll race. Maybe are experiences differ but that's the trend in the videos i have seen too. I would measure it with no launch too, but these are not press vehicles and I don't want to hustle them that much, one run down and one run back is all I'd prefer to do and the launch gets these a much better time!

    • @DMCarReviews
      @DMCarReviews 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Realistick I see. Maybe in a 3 honk street race or drag strip, launch could possibly be an option, but not from a green light on the street. Takes time to activate, and when you let go, there is ~0.5s delay from when you release the launch to when the car starts moving. Launch is very bad on the drivetrain too. Most races I seen have just been light goes green you floor it. If you can do 1 from idle, and 1 from launch would be better.
      How many times have you used launch control off a light? I have maybe used it 2 times in all years, and one of the times I totally failed on the reaction time.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DMCarReviews I have not owned a car with launch control, but I definitely brake torque in automatics or build revs and drop the clutch if I am in a manual and I want to get away from a light quickly. Still, even with all of the Carwow races, they always try to use launch control. Rarely do they flat out fail with them because of a delay (mostly they mess up with BMW because they are super inconsistent with launch control) but they also just drop the hands to race. Street outlaws flashes a light to start it (they mostly have trans brakes and always build revs or boost to launch), I think no launch control is an easier way to go about things so I could see why some might do that, I just haven't witnessed many people do that. Maybe people only share videos of when they use launch control because it is more impressive!

    • @DMCarReviews
      @DMCarReviews 3 ปีที่แล้ว
