@@ZimaCyberia You realize they have made 2 million in 2022 right? There’s still 4 and a half months left in the year and not to mention the potential rise in sales due to having 2 sharks now pushing the product.
Let's break this down why this went well - a) confidence of the pitch - clear communication, strong energy. b) soft disqualifying early in the pitch 'for the right shark...' giving him power in the negotiation as well. c) well thought out reason for wanting shark dollars d) group dynamics - when one shark is overtly interested it brings competition mentality between other sharks d) most of all - he has high credibility from the sale of Happy socks. e) he has enough money, he doesn’t need them and has proven track record, psychologically this just makes the sharks believe he is low risk and easy bet and thus they fight for him.
I bet Mark would've offered their exact deal. He's waited and done it before. He just wants to hear the right answers and even questions the entrepreneurs say. Definitely using this product!
He actually commends them so much throughout the questioning process for responding with good and strong questions back, like the example of can you give us more time and care than your other brands.
So most commercial companies already have companies that go and pick up dull knives and leave sharp ones every week… why would they stop doing that and pay more ?
This was an episode worth watching. Mikael and Marc's smart and sound presentation lured 4 sharks into their net and made them all ripe for the picking; and for the first time (a least for me), I witnessed those sharks completely out of control and 'begging' to get a piece of their business. WOW! What a totally unexpected and turn-around event on national TV...I loved it!
Crazy how Rohan came in for the save. Said "Done" just like that and wrapped it up. Compared to the 1st time they asked Lori for the 500k and she was trying to come up with another offer while Kevin comes along.

The minute the gentleman admitted how he initially failed in the US market, aka realizing the results from his trial and error and learning from them, was when I saw these men were successful businessmen.
I think the fact that Mikael has already been a super successful founder was a factor in the sharks competing for the deal. It's one thing to take a risk on a product/service idea and someone talented who will work hard...but successful experience makes them even more valuable. They have been there, done that and should be able to avoid common mistakes other entrepreneurs make.
He literally didn’t do anything this episode lol. “Doing nothing is sometimes the best strategy, though.” Fair point, Michael H, but clearly it wasn’t the best strategy in this case since he didn’t gain anything from the whole exchange.
They gained significant exposure during their Shark Tank appearance in 2020, after striking a deal in the hallway with Lori and Rohan for $500,000 at 20%. Unfortunately, after the episode aired, the deal with Lori and Rohan never closed. Despite this setback, Knife Aid is still alive and well. As of June 2021, they reported an annual revenue of $2 million.
Annual revenue of 2 million a year later is 1/2 million dollars less than the valuation they were offered. Logistic prices have skyrocketed which explains the reprice of $14.95 vs $10 / knife. Too bad it didn’t go through, it was an excellent offer. It’ll be interesting to see how this company scales going forward; and if they’re able to turn $2 million into 10-20 million. The Sharks may have dodged a bullet because I see a lot of challenges here.

I’ve been to countless houses where knives are so dull and also cheap knives will almost always dull quick and so having that cheap price point will get literally everyone wanting it.
Not really. I’d rather just buy a new knife then to drive myself to a UPS and then wait 3-6 days to get my knifes back. Plus no one cooks any more. Everything is delivery. Only chefs and home cooks will use this. And that’s a very small handful of a niche.

As of 2020, the company mentioned on their Amazon store page that they have already sharpened “over half a million knives”. With a price tag of $69.00 for the sharpening service of 5 knives, it can be deduced that Knife Aid’s total sales have already reached at least $6.9 million! That’s definitely a huge leap from the $120,000 sales just before their Shark Tank appearance.
@@thecreatives2198 It’s self-explanatory. Let's break this down why this went well -
a) confidence of the pitch - clear communication, strong energy.
b) soft disqualifying early in the pitch 'for the right shark...' giving him power in the negotiation as well.
c) well thought out reason for wanting shark dollars
d) group dynamics - when one shark is overtly interested it brings competition mentality between other sharks
d) most of all - he has high credibility from the sale of Happy socks.
e) he has enough money, he doesn’t need them and has proven track record, psychologically this just makes the sharks believe he is low risk and easy bet and thus they fight for him.

Do you know why it didn’t close?
The price per knife also went up by $4.95 per knife. Each knife is $14.95.
@@BraddahBruce That's quite a big bump. You would need to have to sharpen quite expensive knifes for it to make sense
@Melpheos1er ten bucks I was going to try it, but $15 for my knives, not really worth it.
