Pecan pie is my favorite. 😊 I use both butter-flavored Crisco and vegan butter for my pie crusts and biscuits. I keep the Crisco in the back of my fridge so it’s always ready! Thanks for sharing this recipe.
I have never made a pie dough with just shortening--sometimes I've done, like, half butter and half shortening--but this crust looks so perfect, and Crisco is so readily available, I'll try it. Thanks for posting : )
did i miss the amounts for the ingredients? i watched the whole video and also looked at the info below the video and can t seem to find the amounts for each ingredient i dont see a link either, can someone help me out? also i want to make a millet pie that requires the top also, do u still bake off the bottom first or just fill the pie on top of the raw pie crust (the bottom) fill with the millet and other ingredients and then put on the top ?
Simple! I make my crust pretty similar but use olive oil instead. It’s delicious everytime. I half my dough, pat it in the pie pan instead of rolling out. I do the parchment paper flip for the top crust. Thanks!
@@estrella9801 For my recipe I use 3 cups of flour, 6 tbs of milk, 3/4 cup of olive oil (I add little more if the dough is on the dry side) but no more than a cup. 3 tsp of sugar, 3/4 tsp of salt. Cut in half, pat dough in pie pan, then roll out other half for the top. I also use this recipe for pot pie just leave out the sugar.
I would love to know if this recipe would work for me to make small hand pies? My son recently was diagnosed with dairy and egg allergies so I’m trying to find new recipes so that I can still bake most of our desserts at home how I have been doing.

As using that said butter to make a crust? I have done it and while it's great for making biscuts. I have trouble when making a pie crust. If you do that combo video it would be great. While store bought vegan butter is far easier. I worry about said ingredient used to make it.

I love Spectrum non hydrogenated vegetable shortening , but it's soooooo expensive so i do cheat & use Crisco sometimes for my vegan desserts 💯

the weight made it worse. the dough stuck to parchment paper where he beans were and it didnt bake before i removed them
