    Outstanding video Ray: I saw via email notification from DD that the Black Delta 5 Pro came back into stock at DD about 2 weeks ago. I was going to wait for the Dark Green to come into stock but seeing that Black up close in HD Vid seals it. Beautiful Rifle. Also really appreciate you going into extra detail about the play in the bolt action. Other reviewers had mentioned it as a possible negative, but they did not really go into detail. You did and it makes your review stand out from the rest. Happy Thanksgiving!

    I've shot the Delta 5 in 6.5 Creedmoor and shot a couple different Delta 5 Pro's in 308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. They're pretty sweet shooters and would love to own one. I have a TC Performance Center LRR in 6.5 Creedmoor that I would put in the same class as the older Delta 5 but the Pro is a freakin hammer or at least the couple I've personally shot were. Great video as always keepem coming brother and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

    • @XRING
      @XRING  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are pros and cons to both Jackson. It really depends on the specific needs of the shooter. I am really getting to the point where all of my platforms have some kind of pre-fit barrel system. Even if the manufacturer doesn't make a certain caliber, I have the ability to have a barrel spun up as long as it is compatible with available bolt faces.

    Continuing with a great service to the gun community - putting a new firearm through its paces and proving to us all it is worthy of becoming a part of the family. I can think of no better imprimatur than having Ray say a firearm is so good he wants one. "Honey, where's my checkbook, there's something I need to buy?"

    I owned the original Delta 5 ...it was really accurate, but it did not have the chassis. And it was a .75 shooter, not what you have there. I traded it. I may buy one of these, now that you have put my concerns about the bolt "slop" to rest. Very well done video evaluation, Ray.

Set to 2.8 and issues resolved. Probably going to call DD about that, but it is my ONLY complaint about this rifle.

    Love your videos great channel. So you’ve had a chance to review this Delta 5 and Tikka T3x Tact A1….. any comments comparing the two??I am considering these two guns to start off with and competition. I am a right handed person but have a dominant left Eye, So if I were to consider those two guns above I would buy the Tikka in left hand left shoot it left handed. The Delta five I have no choice but to go right handed. Now I caught caught your comment about keeping your head steady as well as your non-trigger handIf you are wanting accurate repeatable groups. What you said has really stuck with me and makes me want to get nothing but a left handed rifle/chassi. Do you feel moving my non-trigger hand to cycle the bolt will lead to inconsistent groupings
    Keep up the great work!

    That is one nice looking rifle... This may sound odd, but, that hand guard, how it mounts to the main frame area, that shape and lines, looks really cool. It is like it has the body lines of a 1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe or a 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Super Sport. It is appealing to the eyes.. Don't get me wrong, I have allot of silly looking firearms that I still like, and I have some that look clever and do not shoot worth a darn.. But it is exceptionally clear, that Daniel Defense, has pulled it off again, with this Delta 5 PRO. It not only looks good, and looks like it is solid, you just show cased that this unit will perform. The recoil looked minimal with this cartridge, of course also, due to the front end doing its job, but, at the close out of the video, you mentioned, the addition of a "6.5"... I can only assume it will be the 6.5 Creedmoor... Due to the availability of that series of cartridge. What would be kick b*tt to witness, is this chassis system slugging out the 6.5 PRC dinky magnum cartridge, But, due to the limited supply of raw PRC building materials, like brass mainly, even though we have claims that 5 different stampers are knocking that brass out or at least have the ability to do such, still, I haven't seen the 6.5 PRC brass on the shelves is almost 2 years. and a year for the factory ammo. Come on, ADG, Petersons, Lapua, Hornady... get to stamping.. Oh, and the color of this chassis is appealing as well. Thank you for showing this. as always, Pardon the novel.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dru. It definitely has lines that make it stand out in a crowd of rifles. These lines seem to be getting quite popular. Thinking of rifles like the Sig Cross and the Q they all have this look. I appreciate you watching and commenting on the video and I hope you have a great weekend sir.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Brazuca20. Depends on the rifle use. For a lightweight hunting setup and occasional long range shooting I would go MPR. For competitions, long range shooting and hunting where a heavier rifle isn’t an issue I would go DD 5 all day long. I still have both rifles and rarely shoot the MPR anymore.

    Glad to see you got your hands on the DD5Pro. So, I'll pose this question to you again. For the money, the MRAD or DD 5 Pro? Also , is there a way to add weight if using the 6.5 to mitigate hop and provide faster follow ups? Considering selling my 6 creed RPR and unused Krieger barrel to purchase the DD 5 Pro is why I ask. Do see see a 6 ARC in DD 5 Pro future? Hopefully you'll be able to compare it to a Bergara LRP 2.0 sometime. Thanks again.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Paunchous. Great question but I think you are going to be twice the money for the MRAD. While I like both of them I would say the DD would make a better all around rifle. The MRAD is BIG and wouldn't be my first choice for lugging around. I doubt DD will offer a 6ARC because it would require a new bolt with the conversion. Thanks for commenting and have great weekend. BTW. you can add weights offered from other companies if you wanted to balance it out.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Eddie and thanks for watching the channel. While I like and have them both they have two completely different roles.
      I would only use the MPR for hunting or a situation where I needed to save weight. It jumps around a LOT when shooting the MPR.
      The DD can do everything and has the ability to change barrels in no time at all. It really depends on what your goals are with the rifle. Thanks again and Happy New year!

      6.5 is a great choice for sure but it really depends on what you want to do with the platform. For general purpose long range shooting you could always go with a Tikka T3X Tac A1 for 2k It is a very versatile platform for about everything and they are extremely accurate.
      It’s not the end all be all but it is a great setup. I hope this helps a little and I hope you have a Merry Christmas!

      @@XRING Probably like You, I'm not easily impressed. My Beowulf was a build and done by my very competent gunsmith. I use Hornady bullets (350 grain XTP's with my own loads and personal recipe). On multiple occasions, I have put 5 rounds with a 1/2 MOA at 100 yards (it ain't me brother ... it's the rifle). You just have to know that at 200 yards, the bullet drop is 11.5" but still accurate. After 200 yards you might as well be using a mortar.

      Hey Millbean and thanks for watching the channel.
      I do think it is still one of the best production offerings out there. Add to the fact that you could do barrel changes yourself at your house and it has all the accessories needed it’s tough to beat.
      There are others but you usually have to look at Arca rails etc. I haven’t seen one yet that didn’t shoot incredibly well with factory match ammo.
      BTW, I still have this rifle and still shoot it regularly. 👍🏼

    How does this compare to some of the other rifles you have reviewed in similar price ranges such as the Christensen arms MPR or even the Remington 700 PCR ? Awesome videos Thank you for putting out awesome content and being authentic.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Jonathan! I will say that the Christensen is good and extremely light. I don’t think it is as robust or as accurate but it has its place for saving weight. The PCR is also great for a lot less money but the fit and finish is nowhere near the DD. I think the best comparison would be against that Tikka. Nearly the same price point and accuracy as well. Tikka comes with a folder but It uses proprietary mags that will fail in a sandy environment. I need more time with the DD to be honest. I still have all of the others you mentioned.

    I have a delta 5 pro, with the 308 barrel. I really like the thing, and I think its a pretty good chassis design and have had good luck with it so far. However, one of the reasons I originally bought it was because of the barrel nut system that makes it so easy to switch calibers, one of the main features they advertised. Unfortunately, I've been waiting over a year for the 6 Creedmoor varmint barrels to be available to purchase, yet they still are not. Someday, maybe...

    Great review. I like how you demonstrated dialing for distance and also using the reticle holds. My preference would be .308 but I am getting more curious about 6.5 Creedmor. What magnification range was the scope? Thanks for the great content. Happy Thanksgiving.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mark. I would seriously consider the 6.5 over the .308. Ballistically, it is going to be superior for longer range shooting. However, if you don't have intentions of going deep into the long range game then there is nothing wrong with the .308 at all. With regards to power on a scope, I like 5-25's for just about everything. In a competition setting you will rarely go over 15x. If you do a lot of bench or group shooting then having the extra power like 25-30x is a benefit.

    Great video. I’m currently setting up my Delta 5 Pro and I’m also putting a Mark 5HD (5-25x56) on it. Would you mind sharing which exact IMS mount you used and whether or not you are happy with it? Any info is greatly appreciated - as are you videos. Thank you.

    I'm guessing that MK5 is a 5x25. When you're shooting at lets say 600-700 yards at 10" steel, what do you think the sweet spot is for clarity on the magnification?

    • @XRING
      @XRING  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Trevor and yes it is a 5-25. I like to stay around the 12-15 range on most of my scopes for this type of shooting. Remember, power is of the devil! You will greatly reduce your chances of seeing impacts or finding targets when you get above that power zone. I am not talking about shooting from a bench or prone. For single engagements in a stable position then 20x + is fine.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. While I really like the MPA chassis quite a bit. I am going to say this would be a close call. The first thing I would do is switch out the grip on the DD and go with something more vertical. Otherwise, I am really digging this chassis.

    Curious how the DD would stack up next to the Tikka Tac A1, GAP Pinnacle, Seekins, etc in a shoot out

    • @XRING
      @XRING  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Bill. We all know that the Tikka is one heck of a setup as well. I should do a direct comparison one day. Unfortunately, I don't have a Pinnacle or Seekins to compare them to.

    • @billbee235
      @billbee235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, a production rifle shoot out would probably be a good video for guys getting into the precision game. I personally started on a Tikka about 5 years ago, but these days there are so many excellent rifles out there. In the midwest I'm seeing lots of Tikka, RPR, and GAP Pinnacles at matches.
