I love me an AR10. There’s just something about holding what essentially is a beefier version of an AR15 and knowing it’s launching a big 30-caliber bullet.
The Daniel Defense DDM5 V3 is no different.
Take the expected Daniel Defense quality and refinement, throw it into an AR10 platform, and get the DDM5 V3.
The more I kept shooting it, the happier I got.
That said, I think I want to make the DDM5 V3 my hunting AR10 pattern rifle.

Great review, and completely agree. I have a DD5V4 and finally took the plunge with a Geissele SSA trigger. I have a higher end trigger in by bolt gun and the stock DD just felt a bit too meh like my Galil (also in 308). I would go to war with the mil spec trigger it comes with, but I wouldn’t want to be a sniper with that trigger. After a quick modification in the buffer weight to get it running like butter again. I have personal qualms about the can tax, so I haven’t taken that plunge, but I can tell you that adding a SME to it, has done wonders for the sound without affecting recoil or muzzle rise. I settled on a Witt Machine one, but there are several out there that worked ok. Happy hog hunting.

After all they’re all in 308, all run pmags. Its the only rifle ammo i need to worry about, and with 110gr (at 3kfps) to 208gr(sub sonic) bullets, i have a lot of options for ballistics. Aside from having to ruck this around the desert, you really cant go wrong with the most modern platforms in 308.

But I did make sure to use matching parts for the upper and lower but I went with the 20 inch barrel and full size rifle buffer tube and stock. The most ringing endorsement of this build I've had is from my own father who recently had some shoulder surgery done and when we went out to go shooting my nieces Rossi trifecta was just too much for him to use but that m5308 of mine told me he barely felt it. If that's not a ringing endorsement of a rifle in terms of how recoil can affect someone I don't know what is.
