Nothing in particular stood out this time around, but I love these anyway. All good things in moderation I always say. Too much of anything even if it's a good thing can be a bad thing.
I'm confused with the expire date, is safe consuming after a few days or need to be trow away?? Here in México and Latín América the mascots in the cereals, candy were removed. Also now every food product have shields that show what excess have from sodium, sugar, fats, etc
No, they didnt., however make certain you put THIS IS FOR THE US ONLY within the video because it doesnt apply everywhere. It's also a lot of misinformation when it comes to things like the dates, as stated its to do with government regulation, yet you make it sound like its the industry that chose to put them on there. They didnt need to at all until the government brought it in
best before & use by are 2 very different things. "Best before" is generally fine to use after the date but "use by" is something I would avoid after the date since it's generally on wet/meat food.
Nah mate all that shit is bs there are too many factors to give accurate expiration dates for every environment and climate. If it wasn't packaged in the store then you have next to no idea how old it is. Milk especially because pasteurization strips all the bacteria away so you can't get ill from rotten milk. Walmart dips their meat in blood to make them look nice and red and is the primary reason there's ever blood in the package else it would have dried/absorbed in the meat. That process causes stomach aches
My tip: always look at the _unit price_ on the stickers at the grocery store. It's usually down in the corner. That's how you can tell what's truly the less expensive option.
yes! I'm the crazy person standing there looking at the labels with a calculator and pen and notepad in hand. I'm comparing sizes, ounces, unit prices and cost.
lol, actually, partially true but also false. You may be less likely to buy the quick snacks, but more likely to fall to other tricks. Many of the larger companies have done their research (and small companies have followed in their footsteps). They have learned how to use sights and smells to motivate the brain. Like placing the Bakery by the entrance. Spreading the basic staples to opposite ends. Placing the Deli Counter at another entry and/or opposite side, since they often have food smells. Even if you are not hungry, the smell can trigger a desire. Just like walking into Grandma's kitchen and smelling that favorite dish she made... It falls in line with the same targeted marketing mentioned regarding product placement.

That last one about the sugar, They slip high fructose corn syrup and replace the sugar right under own noses and we never knew about it. I'd say sugar is better than that High fructose corn syrup. My stomach says so.
The "scientific" or "chemical" names for sugar as well like dextrose for instance. The average person doesnt know the terms they use to "hide" ingredients in our food. I appreciate those who have been curious about this issue to look into it and inform the rest of us. It's a slow way to control the population but it's working. Look at how many people are having fertility issues these days. Look at the rate at which people are dying from cancer. Many of the items in our food have been proven to cause these issues.
I think it's the serving size that fools people. Eat less of the serving size, like half or a third, if the product has a lot of sugar in it, but is supposed to be "healthy". For example: I bought some Kroger brand frosted shredded wheat the other day, and the serving size was 21 bite sized biscuits. I'm not gonna eat *that* many, just 7 or so. It has 12g of sugar (3 teaspoons) and 12g of added sugar (watch out for that, that's how they fool people, too), so eating only 7 will be only 8g, which is only 2 teaspoons. Watch out for "High Fructose corn syrup"/corn syrup on the labels. Companies put that in there because it's cheaper. Another way they fool people with the serving size is that you'll soon run out of the product, and will have to go get more. Don't fall for it, it's a trick! These people only tell you that because they're already skinny, have a high metabolism, probably aren't going through menopause, exercise all the time, they're a celebrity, or do that "intermittent fasting" diet. Don't do it. I did it a long time ago, before it was even fashionable. I kept the weight off all right, but it caused some nasty acid reflux that I'm still going through off and on. Once, in public, I nearly fainted because I had low blood sugar from it. The next day, I went off the "diet". Never go on ANY diet unless you ask your doctor first. NEVER do anything if a celebrity tells you to do it. I'm sick of all this "follow the leader" game that everyone seems to be playing!
There is nothing that surprises me when it comes to the food industry, they have almost always tried to slip around every corner of the law to make as much money as possible
I have always been cautious with these videos. It's good to inform the public. But if you do it in the wrong way.they will ignore the healthy tips. I was very obese when I was young people tried to help me by giving me some of the tips but they did it in a way that even though I know it is because they want me to be healthy I too upset and resentful to want to do it.
My milk goes bad 2-7 days before the expiration date. Hell, i just lost 8 hamburger buns going moldy and i got it a few days ago. Haven’t even open the package yet.

In the USA, we have the same. But, funny how Government can be influenced by Lobbyist and "Donors". Kind of leaving that "unhealthy" up to arbitrary means and subjective results. Difference being, in much of Europe, it's dangerous to report some issues to the public.

Tip- buy groceries online Buy smallest size available for unhealthy cravings like chips and soda Learn to look at label. Don't buy anything with > 25g added sugar, >25 g total fat, 0 trans fat unless it's natural food like milk. These are per 100g values. Buy less processed food. G classic lays has only oil, salt and potato while flavored ones have artificial flavors, colors etc. Many so called low fat snack are filled with sodium. Check out that too.
I can not eat beef, pork, wild game due to a digestive disease called gastroparesis. I eat turkey most often or fish. On my bad days I will use Premier Protein which has 30 grams of protein 1 carb and 1 sugar. When "veggie burgers" became a thing I thought I would try it. The impossible whopper, While very tasty, was worse than a regular whopper in sodium and carbohydrates. Many times salads are another tricky choice you think you are being healthy, but because of the dressing, cheese, croutons, bacon, or whatever you like on your salad it ends up being unhealthy.
Did you develop the gastroparesis after being bitten by a tick? There's a particular species of tick that can make people allergic to a sugar found in meat....
@@jaytrashwade1-1 Great question! I did not actually. I have had test after test to make sure I dont have Alpha- Gal or Lyme disease. I have suffered with gastroparesis since I was a teenager. My doctor believes it's due to being diabetic.
@@TonyWilliams27 I am lactose intolerant as well, whether that has to do with not being able to eat beef as well is a good question actually. I have wondered if they correlate.
Me too. I find that by the time the sell by date comes ive already had it open in my fridge for weeks. Which makes the sell by Date meaningless. That is only if the product is unopen
Fun facts: almost all milk is "ultra-pasteurized" meaning that almost all (99.99%) the bacteria is removed from the product, so even when it does go "sour" it's still safe to drink aside from the sour taste. If anything, if you don't like the sour taste of milk, then make cheese or yogurt from it, you have to cook it again anyway to make into it's by product anyway. Eggs can last a lot longer than really thought, just test your eggs in a vat of water and if they float to the top they're not good and best used for hard boiled eggs at that point, if they sink, they're still fresh or at least good. Anything in a mason jar, steel can, or anything that looks like it's had the air taken out of it can last 5-10 years longer because the air has been removed from it. That being said, if a steel/aluminum can begins having rust on it, then you throw the can away or at least open it and turn the contents into compost and recycle the can.
Use by dates often are created by consumers. Milk dates for instance, are often created by using customer feedback on quickly purchased milk turns into spoiled milk.
Don't buy peanut butter that has more than two ingredients in it. The part about "animal droppings" in food reminded me that some peanut butters have rat/mouse droppings, dirt, and rocks in them. Pay a little extra and get store brand natural peanut butter with only peanuts and salt in it. I get the Kroger brand natural peanut butter with the peanut oil on top. Just put it in your fridge for a while until the oil soaks through, then it'll be like "regular" peanut butter, if you don't want to have to stir it up. It makes me sick how much food gets thrown away because it's still good and people are fooled by "best by", and/or "use before" dates. When I have non-perishable food that's still good, but I can't use it any more, I take to a "Little Pantry" box a few blocks from where I live.
We call gelatin "meat glue". It's disgusting and in everything from marshmallows to "healthy" yogurt. Pretty bad when Christmas comes and boxed stuffing comes with crushed chicken for added "flavor". Vegetarian is one thing, being a Vegan is next to impossible.
@@28ebdh3udnav Trust me, I'm not trying to start an argument. What isn't made from meat? My wife is a vegetarian but isn't a Nazi about it. I got lucky there.
If you open milk the sell by date means nothing. If you milk is sell by 2 weeks from said date. But you open it immediately most of the time the milk will go bad before the date on the bottle
That just depends on the temperature of the fridge. We keep ours at 33 so strawberries at the back end up frozen (wife hates that) but we have stuff like sour cream and chip dip that lasts for months. That stupid fridge is a 23 year old monster but never quits, I'm in no rush to get a new one.
the date is NEVER accurate. I keep mine at the very back of my fridge to stay as cold as possible. You can easily get a week past the date on the jug. I don't think I've ever seen a jug of milk go bad any less than a week after the date. Same goes for anything dairy related. Keep it as cold as possible and it will always stay good for a lot longer.
Exactly, and the date side of things was a government regulation and standard, NOTHING to do with the food industry, unless of course you live in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA where everyone there thinks the world revolves around them.. Here in Australia it's called Use By, and Best Before, they have always had dairy products with a Use By date due to the chances of poisoning from such.
Most energy bars are as bad as a plain old Snickers, just eat fruit but do have a day a week in which you can have candy and stick to that day, and of course use moderation
I will say on milk. It is a gamble after that date unless it was never opened. Then you have a couple days. If I have 1/2-1/4 gal left it goes bad a day or so before or after the date.
In the UK there's talk of removing the use-by date on milk altogether, since it's fairly easy to tell if milk is still good without actually tasting it, just rely on the sniff test, honestly it's for the best, most do not expire by the date, they can go days past, heck I've had milk that was still good nearly 2 full weeks past its use-by date
And there are times where milk can go bad days before the use by date. The milk's shelf life usually depends on the diet the cows it comes from are on, as well as the processing that comes between milking the cows and putting milk on the shelves for sale. Manufacturers can only make an estimate on when they think the milk will begin going sour.
I just dont believe any ads, I try one thing of whatever. Like or dont. I use Best before then add 12 months. Still here I use this for all but fresh food. And remember the higher up the ingredients list the more there is.
I'm the crazy person standing there looking at the labels with a calculator and pen and notepad in hand. I'm comparing sizes, ounces, unit prices and cost.
Should be on the list of why groceries stores continue to move their stuff around. It confuses the customer. Some people just will not look for an item, like me.
changes in suppliers. Don't ask me why, but most suppliers tend to do this for whatever reason after a change over. We never move items, UNLESS it's to keep certain brands grouped together if they aren't already. Which most cases, they already are.
Talking about "use by" dates, but only shows "best buy" dates. Also frequently seen is "sell by" date. If they did actually say "use by" that'd be a good one to include, but the others are pretty clear.
if it wasn't moldy, sour, bitter, off-taste it was edible. FYI if you want to shed weight, work out every day for an hour at least 5 days a week and every two weeks switch the routine of your workouts. As in do something different that gives the same benefit and diet with one cheat day. If you cheat before your cheat day you owe yourself a little extra workout like an extra set or an extra 10 minutes. I guarantee you will lose a pound a day working out 1 hour each day while dieting. Then when your thin you can cut down to 2 or 3 days working out or to the point of using the rest of your fat to build muscle.
Here's secret I found out on Taco Bell's beef, The FDA say Beef must contain 35% beef to be call beef to sell. Thai's is Taco Beef for you, god knows what the other 65% is. This is why you get the shits from there. The steak and chicken is (slightly) better there but don't get the beef. I can't find the original source for this info. so some of my stats might be off.
There's 7 food types and ingredients that causes diarrhea, and Taco Bell uses all 7 in their menu. Most fast food franchises use up to 5 of these ingredients.
McIntosh apples for .79/lb??? I wish I could find some. It seems like the stores in my area have stopped stocking McIntosh, but they have all of the other types of apple.
Bioengineering crops to be more resilient to harsh conditions and environments to prevent global famine I can reasonably understand. After that, what's the purpose?
I guess I’m supposed to take his word for it…vegans are healthier. I live in an area that has a pretty high percentage of vegetarians. I know quite a few (over 24 people) and none of them are healthier. In fact most of them are sicker in the winter and spring. Yeah, now that I read that out loud to myself I’m going to have to believe in my own experience and not a TH-camr. The addition of the things that food suppliers ‘sneak’ into the food confirms it. You will find rodent droppings, hairs etc in every single thing you would buy from a farmer or pick your own
Wow, I'm surprised you mentioned and recommended Mrs Elizabeth Ann Larson. Well I don't have much to say about her but I'll advice newbie to place their trade under her services and she's Blockchain certified.
I have my main grocery store memorized. Before I go I make a list, but in two drafts. First one is normal, but for the second one I go back through and organize it by aisle. One fell swoop shopping, no backtracking. Record time. I insist on going alone too.
If I had the money and the means, I'd order my entire shopping list from a store in Europe and have it shipped to me. It's insane that other countries can keep their food industry honest, yet we Americans kill ourselves with sugar and lies. 🤬🤬
Up to 1 week after date on the milk my left nut... milk barely makes it to the best by date as you use it. At the rate the bacteria that spoils it doubles, the closer you get to the bottom the faster it seems to spoil. ALWAYS give your milk a sniff test. If at any point your milk hits room temp, you may as well trash it
that means your milk isn't being kept cold enough. My milk CONSISTENTLY lasts up to a week passed the date every single time, I don't remember the last time a jug actually went bad. What's funnier about this is, 4 days ago, I forgot my milk on the counter. I gave it a test, was still good. Threw it back in the fridge, tested it the next day, still good. It was 4 days passed the date before that happened. I keep my milk at the back of the fridge so it's always at it's coldest, hasn't yet ever gone bad by the date on the jug. Once a jug is gone, I buy another, and this process has continued. NEVER once has it gone bad when the date has hit or passed. My milk, literally every time, goes past the date. Never once has it stunk or soured, and I usually take a swig before putting it in my cereal. Always tastes the same as when I opened it. If your milk is a ticking time bomb as you say, then your fridge isn't cold enough, or you're keeping it at the front of the fridge or on the door. Throw it in the very back and see how it goes.
My dad always tells me milk is good for at least a month after expiration date passes if unopened. If you open it before that expiration date, you can safely consume it for a week later
Expiration dates being false/arbitrary isnt a secret some states dont require them at all and some brands have actually been bitching about it for years
The most stupid and bad part about infirmation coming out of the US is that people that, for example live in europe, believe it applies to food here as well, without taking into account there are different legislations for food quality, storage ,transportation etc Russia a country the US kinda hates has BETTER FOOD
@SXsoft99 That's true but people don't want to hear it. My wife's mom is Scottish and 96, has never once in her life eaten disgusting Haggis. My parents are Dutch so I grew up eating real cheese and red cabbage. Just because we eat Big Macs doesn't mean everyone else does. Different cultures=different (and sometimes better) food.
I cannot fathom someone throwing perfectly fine food away just because its past the sell-by date. 😠 Stores are horrible for doing this too, but at least lots of of them have the decency to donate them to food pantries and food banks.
I discount them down by A LOT and throw them in a cart. People buy the crap out of it and I've never had a customer come back and say a item had gone bad.
What big buisness wants you to avoid anything negative about their product. and are willing to go to great lengths to do so to make obscene amounts of money. Shocker.
*THE COW ISN'T DEAD YET* when they start unzipping it. I eat meat so this isn't some lecture. In any slaughterhouse the cow goes up the ramp into a pen. A guy reaches over with an air powered bolt gun and puts at least one hole in the cow's brain. If it's done right the cow goes unconscious and the messy part starts. If it's not done right it gets disgusting. I love a good cheeseburger as much as anyone else but if you're going to kill an animal then just do it right and get it over with.
The Rem and Stempy show bc of how visually disturbing and disgusting some problematic elements were included. Also, the creator of the series was the one responsible for setting up a toxic workplace behind the scenes when this show was being made.
So I have a gluten allergy and I can tell you it’s not fun. I wished I could eat normal food like everyone else but it causes certain reactions and makes it impossible to consume any form of gluten.
@Chittysushi My wife finally got tested for gluten, cut it out for a month and got immediately better. People think it's a joke, it's not. It's in almost everything and costs a fortune to live gluten free.

I already knew about that though. But seemingly thanks for the updated info on that topic

Vegetarian isn't always completely Vegetarian...often companies will use meat seasonings to make Vegetarian food more edible.
McDonald's fries cough cough.
@@jaytrashwade1-1 I can't speak to the manufacturing process but we always cooked ours in fresh oil that had never cooked meat
That doesnt mean they're made from meat
@@28ebdh3udnav Trust me, I'm not trying to start an argument. What isn't made from meat? My wife is a vegetarian but isn't a Nazi about it. I got lucky there.
The expiration date on milk are always came true
or you dont take care of you milk like you should
@jimbo9208 what is that supposed to mean? How do you "take care of milk" properly?
The sell by date has always been a suggestion. Lol. You can tell when kids put these list’s together.
Nothing about nitrites/nitrates in meat? Big miss there. Highly recommend you, reading this, research it.
You niff it and if it smells bad don't eat it.....
Niff ittttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a celiac I hate how folks treat me as a fad dieter a d that it doesn't really matter.
Corn Syrup... the cheap sugar that's in damn near everything processed
I just dont believe any ads, I try one thing of whatever. Like or dont.
I use Best before then add 12 months. Still here I use this for all but fresh food.
And remember the higher up the ingredients list the more there is.

Some knowledge for us all.
I've found milk goes bad after 2 weeks old or after the date printed on the gallon container. I drink Vitamin D milk
i think in addition to best by date they need a packaged by date if you know when its packaged you can guess how long itll last
if it wasn't moldy, sour, bitter, off-taste it was edible.
Wingstop’s frying oil contains Hydrogenated oil with TBHQ!
McIntosh apples for .79/lb??? I wish I could find some. It seems like the stores in my area have stopped stocking McIntosh, but they have all of the other types of apple.
Also, foods right now have bioengineered ingredients
Every banana you ever ate is a bioengineered clone. There's benefits to unlike fearmongering
Bioengineering crops to be more resilient to harsh conditions and environments to prevent global famine I can reasonably understand. After that, what's the purpose?
Too many GMO foods are in the grocery stores! Because, I work for a major grocery company!
@@jaytrashwade1-1 that is the only purpose. That has always been the only purpose of bioengineering.

I always knew about the thumbnail lol but don't take chances
The milk that I have this morning is passed by exp date.
My dad always tells me milk is good for at least a month after expiration date passes if unopened. If you open it before that expiration date, you can safely consume it for a week later
The Vegan Teacher beg to differ!😂😂

But lies and detrimental to your health is f'd
Dishonourable mention: shrinkflation-over time manufacturers have been selling less and less of their product for the same price.

The most stupid and bad part about infirmation coming out of the US is that people that, for example live in europe, believe it applies to food here as well, without taking into account there are different legislations for food quality, storage ,transportation etc
Russia a country the US kinda hates has BETTER FOOD
@SXsoft99 That's true but people don't want to hear it. My wife's mom is Scottish and 96, has never once in her life eaten disgusting Haggis. My parents are Dutch so I grew up eating real cheese and red cabbage. Just because we eat Big Macs doesn't mean everyone else does. Different cultures=different (and sometimes better) food.

Intentional obsession is 100% what iPhone marketing does
I cannot fathom someone throwing perfectly fine food away just because its past the sell-by date.
Shocker.
I still don't use after the date, PERIOD! Especially milk.
U never know what true and what not true
The only way to avoid eating anything bad is to stop eating. It's all against you, for THEIR benefit.
Coca Cola. Can't beat the real thing.
So then how many rodent droppings by volume are safe to eat then?
