You can say what ever you like about lies harming people but in that era some secrets could be as damaging to her and the child she was taking care of, there really was such a thing as a ruined woman, and often woman in that situation often couldn't get work or housing or any of the basics. Actually I've read before that she told friends she'd wear a wig to pick up guys, then reveal who she really was, because she had issues around only being loved for her image. She needed to prove she could be loved if she looked ordinary. So it fits. It also fits re using sexuality as weapon, to revenge herself on her absent father. She used her sexy persona to get fame & affection but felt trapped by her dumb blonde image: because in private she was introvert, shy & wanted to be taken seriously as an actress .

I have heard that they were lovers, also. Gable did visit his daughter once when she was 14. He couldn’t take responsibility for the girl because it would ruin Loretta Young’s reputation. Loretta only admitted on her death bed that Judy was her daughter with Clark Gable.

The forcing himself on her rumour started when a v elderly Loretta was watching something on date r*pe with her relative & asked her what the term meant, then said he'd done it to her. Did she really understand or was she still all there mentally at the time ( dementia?), because everyone in Hollywood gossiped that it was a steamy affair. I mean women were falling all over him, he was the undisputed King of Hollywood. No other rumours ever about him being prone to forcing himself on women.

@@sarahholland2600 I'm not saying it was what he did, I wasn't there and I wish it wasn't, but at the time, it was more 'normal' that a man forced himself on a woman. That James Bond movie where he r*pes the woman was seen as romantic. So many scenes where the man forces himself, or mostly forces a kiss on a woman were (or are still) seen as romantic, as long as the woman seems to like it, after. Many movies were that way. They loved a man who knew what he wanted and knew how to control his woman. It was manly. Most of the time, the woman went along with it since as society showed, it was a sign that the man loved you and if you said you didn't want it, then you were blamed for teasing him. Maybe Loretta realized that when she realized date r*pe was a thing.

Call of the WILD not Call of the Wind. I do wish people who want to talk about the Industry would do their homework. BTW, I had a lovely conversation in the 1990s with Ingrid Bergman's daughter Isabella. All she said about her mother was that she was often "high maintenance." After my 25+ years in the Industry, I would say that most of the time it is better to just watch the wonderful work that an actor does on the screen rather than get to know them personally. They have major pressures on them and have to think of themselves first if they are going to survive. This is especially true for women. Many actors do wonderful things for charities and their fellow man. However, they can't live normal lives or do normal everyday things. Just think of the pleasure they give us.

Re the claim that Marilyn wanted to make love with her father....sigh...many people say silly stuff when they are at a party where have been drinking. Doubtless she was angry with her father for his desertion. What could be a more devious revenge than her "plan". I had planned to invite my ex over to his brother/sister-in-law's apartment so that I could entice him into playing a game of bond*ge. The idea was to get him into an embarrassing position (several of my acquaintances who had been intimate with him as well were eager to hide until he was helpless and then to reveal themselves). We wanted to leave him trapped there for his family to find.
He did agree to go there with me (naturally, he was a dog), but I decided not to bother.
That nonsensical thinking does not make me a kidnapper or a monster. It was fantasy, created to relieve my heartache....as was Marilyn's, no doubt.

I would've never subscribed if this was the first episode I watched. The errors in facts, the MANY mispronunciations, and all the slurring was absolutely awful.
