    How about the focus of 3x fresnel lens? Is it OK as you described? I have the same 3x fresnel and just experimented and seemed to be focus may be an issue if you have such a short distance between eyes and the smartphones monitor! Dont have the same vr glasses so I am asking your experience? (Assuming you dont use glasses daily for your eyes) :)

    This may be what I'm looking for. I cannot see out of my right eye due to a gun accident years ago. So I'm new to FPV and I didn't want to spend money on split view Fat Sharks if I could do something like this. I'll subscribe to your site and was just wondering if you got all of your equipment thru Banggood. Also if you have anyone has thoughts about someone with single vision and FPV. I do have an IPhone so I really like this idea.

    Fantastic work!! Headplay HDs are only available on USA so after import costs to the shitty UK they are silly money, you have made the same thing for a fraction of the price, why pay top money for cheaply made fatsharks with a low res image when we can make our own higher quality gear, well done mate, I'll be subbing you for sure😃

    Just a side note ;- the Quanum MK1s are a exact fit for a Sony Z2, simply cut a slot in one side, slide the phone in and hold it in place with a 8" wing band. I was flying a DJI Vision 2 via blue tooth ...... same principle but I find the proper fpv idea fascinating.

  • @wyvern4588
    @wyvern4588 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have always had box goggles and have had 70FOV for 3 years, I'm used to it and fly better with them set to 4:3 (around 55-60FOV). I tried glasses goggles, and didn't like them, no vertigo, not sense of immersion, no sense of feedback.
    I think 50FOV is the sweet spot, you can see the whole screen at once, but you can scan with your eyes where you want to go (or where to avoid).
    Curious to see what the lag is like when flying fast.

I tried on the Head Play goggles on at the Toledo RC show recently and they are just right for me with my glasses off. Great videos by the way!

    Andy have you considered trying to make a 3D FPV goggle for use with one of the 3 FPV cameras like Nerdcam3D or Blackbird? I am considering trying this...I think a DIY 5"monitor and cheap 3D goggles might work (with FR632 Diversity receiver similar to Quanum)...probably for less the $100 when Fatshark are $600

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stephen Wright I have a 3d video coming up. the problem with 3d for FPV is its not that useful in the air. 3d only really works for close up objects. when things get far away the image becomes flat such as when we are flying. you cant use a monitor to do it because your eyes need to see the images individually. at the moment i believe its only the skyzones that do 3d and also not very well according to rcmodelreviews. Theres some stuff I am working on though so thanks for the ideas :)

    • @stevejhkhfda
      @stevejhkhfda 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +AndyRC thats the theory regarding 3d however in practice those using good 3d cameras have said its excellent. I do 250 facing and proximity flying so it will be great for me. Check out the Blackbird 2 and the link I posted - the monitor splits the picture. You can put one of the monitors in a 3d case...its a golden opportunity because 3d capable goggles are rare at the moment...

  • @AdminTuber
    @AdminTuber 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    . Ok .. I built it but the Fresnel lenses distort the image
    you can see the lens lines break down the pixels .. for FPV it ok but for watching FHD movies less .
    If anyone knows of a method to enable viewing a full HD movie (NOT SBS) on a "cardboard" device (head mount) - PLEASE let me know.
    Tx

      there are many apps on the play store like the "AAA VR cinema". It makes it look like you're watching the video in a cinema theater. another reason you can't find apps that show videos in fullscreen is because in VR, each eye has roughly a 8:9 image, so widescreen videos can't fit properly.

    Although I'm fascinated with 3D VR goggles I don't think it will be of much use when viewing my camera transmission on my Xiro Xplorer V drone. I just needed a way to see my iPhone screen in bright daylight well enough to fly by it. Your video looks like the perfect solution since nobody seems to offer 2D goggles for an iPhone. I ordered the parts for your solution today. Question: Do you think replacing the lenses with circular Fresnel ones( using the original lens holder) would work? I ordered a couple of small Fresnel cards to give it a try.

    i always had problems with the quanums as i`m shortsighted. can you wear glasses under those banggood goggles?

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      manhill I am short sighted and had no problems with the quanams. do you mean long sighted? IE you cant see objects close up? If it helps the distance between the screen and the lens is shorter than the quanams with this setup which works in favor of short sighted people but not long sighted. Either way you can wear glasses over these better than the quanams however it will let light in

    Coincidence, I bought that exact headmount several months ago, but never able to use it, I don't know if because lens defective or because I have some problem in my eyes (left eye is "lazy").
    Thanks for this video, very probably going to be my first headset!

I move on quickly to try out new things for the channel :)

      5 Below in the United States for $5.94 for t he "Smartphone Compatible VR Headset" distributed by 1616 Holdings, Inc.
      I did try to create one using a fresnel lens and it didn't work. The focal length for my eyes needs to be much longer. The distance from my eyes to the screen needed to be greater than the depth of the goggles. This was with a 3X fresnel lens and a 5X magnifying glasses attachment. What this video shows isn't possible for my eyes.

      That's it. because the glasses screen quanum V2 is greater. and mobile is much lower. I wear glasses grade, and for me is the best quanum. I have the 2. It is a matter of personal taste.

    So, if you used something like a GoPro, would that increase the video quality on the screen? I understand that those cameras have latency issues, but would that make the image better, or can the transmitter/receiver only transmit and receive a certain amount of quality? Also, could this possibly be done with an Iphone?

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aubatron it wont increase the quality really using a gopro as the av out on the gopro is standard def same as any other fpv camera, and as you say using a gopro may increase the latency, i dont have a gopro so i cant try :(

    • @jeanpaulvda

      AndyRC in the easycap viewer app theres a option for cartboard view. It costs like 1,50 euros but it works totaly fine. I striped the easycap device and directly solderd the wires to it. It fits inside of the vr headset on the botem plate. I put my receiver on the right side and the battery between the straps. I have the same vr headset as you. It very compact and cheap

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      AndyRC I really love the video. And to be honest i commented before getting to the point where you mentioned the video pixels. Lol. I will probably be using this idea myself because I cant stop myself from taking my eyes away from the screen and looking into the sky. I have some sort of FPV fear that I really want to get over but its such a habit to look up. Goggles seem like my only option at this point

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      u still will look up with goggles, its just the screen follows u so it doesnt matter haha, u just need to get use to it. its normal to have this fear at first as its so unnatural to not be looking where the aircraft is

    BETTER THEN FRESNEL LENS IS TO USE MAGNIFYING GLASSES 3x or 4x by the store or just one lens on every eye , its done for small clock workers or jewellery makers, it has cheap ones big ones small ones BECAUSE THE FRESNEL LENS HAVE DISTORTION ON THE PICTURE, dear people.
