definitely prefer the AYN odin 2 portal over the AYANEO pocket evo for a few main reasons. better driver/game compatibility with the snapdragon 8 gen 2 over the G3x gen 2, much lighter body (430g vs 480g), more reliable software and support from AYN over AYANEO, and $100 cheaper for the base model. has the exact same panel & is apparently tuned slightly better. plus the headphone jack lol

All variants of the Pocket Evo do not have a 3.5mm headphone jack. You will need to get a USB Type-C to male 3.5mm adapter. They are fairly cheap tbh. I got an official Samsung one that I'm going to use whenever my EVO gets here.

Price isn't too bad for the specs and features you are getting around $500 Retail or $390 early bird for the Base model. But the problem these handheld suffer is from the Lack of Native Android games that use all the power and features. Your mostly probably going to use this for emulation at the end of the day.
Depending on where you look, there are games that are formatted in APK for sideloading, and they tend to prefer the top end in smartphone performance to run, for better or for worse. At that point encouraging developers to port their games to natively run on Android is worth a shot.
Just received my white unit today, everything is great except for the speakers, they are very muffled, probably the worst i’ve heard in years, compared to SD SD OLED, ALLY, ALLYX , ODIN 2, PS VITA etc. The Screen though is freaking amazing, second only to the oled m4 ipad pro. The ergonomic is better than I expected, quite a bit better than the odin 2. one surprise is the sticks are removable and totally compatible with the one from gulikit kk 2 pro, which is great cos i have a pack of 3 pairs at home.

If you want a better portable size and don't mind Android/arm, you are better with an RP5 or an Odin 2/mini. If it were x86 capable to run steamos and a little smaller it would be really nice thou.

SD 865 doesnt come close in performance to the g3x gen 2 and youre gonna be wishing you got the better chipset once you realize your games run like dog water and can only upscale 1.25x without dropping frames. The 165Hz seems a bit pointless for an Android handheld considering most games for some reason are locked to 60FPS even if you have a 120Hz screen. I wonder how much more useful this could be if someone got Linux working on it the same way you would a custom ROM.
Wreckfest is best for android performance tests. It has the same physics as PC version, only has lower textures an collision details. Also it has controller support as it's a ported game.

Since AYA can't cool their chips so it throttles to lower performance than 8 Gen 2 in the AYN ODIN 2. Also, why can't ANY OF THESE put two USB Cs on them?
It depends on your needs. I mainly want this chip and android os for my streaming. Also battery life is a plus lasting 10-12 hours rather than x86 apus only last 2 hours of pc gaming.

x86 runs Bazzite with Windows games, retro emulation and a desktop.

OLED handhelds don't currently support VRR due to VRR flickering.
