Thanks for showing off Anbernic's themes for their in-house launcher. I'm especially partial to Theme 3 as it reminds me very strongly of the layout used by Anbernic's XX handhelds. Hopefully they'll bring an "alphabetical order" toggle to the XX line, like it appears this unit has.
Saw tons of rave reviews for the Anbernic cube, but no one mentioned that when using this over usb-c video out (ie, to stream) - there's no way to keep to charge it, and games suffer from constant lag. This lag only happens when using video out. I wish reviewers would test all the features.
As much as everyone jokes about Anbernic, I actually like there's an Anbernic for nearly everyone. They make so many types and releases that a newcomer will never have to wait long for a new release
Ye RG556 - and that one even has a nice OLED panel. Same chipset. However the sticks are the old ones which are pretty bad by all accounts, lot of cardinal snapping. The new hall sticks on the 405V and 405H are said to be really good.
And if you have a decent phone stream to it and get a controller. Be my preference if purely for streaming. As I'd rather sit at my pc/tv with a controller anyways
Finally seeing these handheld devices run PS2 and Sega Saturn efficiently after waiting for so long. Now the next step is to get the Xbox 360 and PS3 to run on these without issues. Maybe 2 years out?
Whew, not likely on a sub-$200 handheld for many more years (likely a decade). Modern APU's in Mini PC's costing $500+ still choke on Xbox360 and PS3 emulation, leading folks to play the native PC versions of those games. So WiiU and 3DS tend to be the endgame for emulation purposes. Those emulators run full speed on flagship phones and $300+ handhelds, so maybe a few years to see those chipsets (snapdragon 8 gen 2) in sub-$200 devices.
Issue with xb360 and ps3 is that there's nobody working on android versions of those emulators so even if they get more optimised on the pc there's no certainty of us seeing android versions, particularly when you have some android emulator devs having been put off by toxicity of some of the endusers rather than a C&D from a hardware manufacturer.

Yeah a 556 refresh is what most of us want. Better sticks and a better plastic finish. Would be sweet. At this point with the competition from the rp4pro, a better chipset would be great, but be a bonus. Anberic loves em small incremental upgrades
Can the 406H emulate PS2 NCAA Football 11 well? I'm a big sports gamer and have been looking for something affordable that can emulate PS2 sports games, like the NCAA Football Series.
More or less the same performance as the rp4, with ergo bumps and stick placement, aimed a ps1 and up. Add the rp4 grip for 15 USD, and these are pretty close.
Love to see this at 150 USD. Then it'd match the rp4 current sale with grip. Really though around 200 dollars I'd like to see Anbernic release something with d1100 or better with all these improvements they've been doing. Hopefully something next year. Who knows probably be one more this year knowing anby
They don't make their displays and can only rely on what's available in the market, so they may not have access to OLED screens with the same size and aspect ratio.
@@serpentsage yeah, being 16:9 it must be some bulk phone screens. Be harder to find oled in 4:3 laying around. Most likely why the rp mini has an odd sized screen

I'm pretty sure that the base model doesn't come with any preloaded games; but, you'll be able to buy a pre-loaded card as an add-on at checkout for a few dollars more.
@mattdavis9601 so what are you saying is they have a chip that I can buy that's preloaded with games? And can you play steam games wanted or can you download steam games or can you download a steam download off the web
Can you play Fortnite via game pass stream on this? I want to get this for my son for a bunch of fun retro games but he wants something that might be able to also run cod mobile and Fortnite
Just been binging this channels for 2 hours and multiple times it is mentioned that “do not like dish style pads” Look here, if gonna play fighting games that is the way to go. Cross dpads are fine if you wanna do your Contra test but not for fighting games. “Cross D-pads are best for fighting games” is nonsense that Nintendo fanboys propagate. And, frankly, anyone who cannot pass the Contra test with a dish-style pad is simply inept and uncoordinated.
i want something that size that can play switch and gamecube games...call me when that happens....which if it's coming from anbernic, that should be in about a month or so.😋
So anbernic just doesn't do Linux anymore? now they're just all about Android based handhelds? Well, that's sucks. Not that I really care anymore.Twenty five years of waiting for a $150 linux based handheld that can play god of war at 60 fps with no slowdown and no tinkering... for nothing since I bought samsung galaxy tab S8 ultra... and TOTALLY happy with my decision.😊
2:15 I will be honest these Unisoc processor based Handhelds aren't worth it, they are too weak in comparison to Snapdragon or MediaTek midrange or flagships. This one for example the Unisoc T820 has an Antutu score of around 525164 which for context is slower than a $200 Smartphone.

I would really like to see how those devices perform(latency) in streaming games from PC over WiFi/usb
That is a really nice looking device.
The 396th device from anbernic
this year?

That looks interesting. Two things I dont like: 1. Price 2. 4:3 Screen
why 4:3 is ideal for emulation, the most frequently used ratio.
Yeah, and the kind of games that require 16:9 screen tend to demand more power, i.e. more expensive.
One thing I don’t like: it’s not metal
4:3 IS good for games; chill out.

It was a bad decision to go with IPS for the screen again. They could have really pulled more interest with an OLED.
It's a good marketing decision actually because now they have a reason to release another handheld...
@cashy57 Retroid pocket mini did that but could only find a 3.7 inch screen and people still complained
They priced it to sit between the rp4 and rp4 pro. That makes sense. It should be closer to the rp4 base price, though.
