7:20 Was a fast call, and it made an excellent and intimate shot. Great phone, great photos, and of course, the big difference: great eye and framing skills.
will the bride even like having her dress cut off like that? In my (admittedly limited) wedding experience the bride doesn't usually like that, even if I do like the look.
How are these amazing? I'm not criticizing the photographer but amm I going crazy or blind that I see these pictures to be so noisy and and grainy?? Everyone saying how amazing these photos are and all I see is grains everywhere!
Everything comes down to skills and experience. You can be given a potato and deliver beautiful images. But sure, having better equipment is always helpful and more fun. Also, amazing to think that about 20 years ago we had those Nokia bricks for phones and now this! Cool video!
I think you'd love the Ricoh GR II or III. Cell phone size and aps-c sensor. I had a Leica Q but sold it because the Ricoh won every time (for convenience and honestly the image quality is on par)
That's a great recommendation! I would love to see Benj play with a Ricoh GR! The main thing that puts me off is the fact that it's a fixed focal length of 28mm. Crop mode would work but it's not for everyone due to lower resolution.
This phone now has a very strong competation ,Xiaomi 12S ultra, which is a 1.02 inch 23mm main camera(sensor fully used) 13mm 1/2 sensor 125mm ,also being co designed by leica
Second this! Knowing that the ‘professional’ shots were covered clearly enabled you to have the freedom to be super creative. Exceptionally talented photographer and it just goes to show it really isn’t the camera that makes a good photographer.
Fun concept, and way better test than the studio shoots that people do. I'm actually impressed. My next phone should probably be an Xperia. Also a testament to the skill level that you have worked and practiced for years. Well done!
Ignore what some TH-cam "reviewers" claim. They have no idea what they are talking about. As in they don't know how a camera works. And certainly have no idea how anything that isn't an iphone works. I bought an Xperia because I wanted a more camera like experience. And from my experience it absolutely delivers.
100% a much more “camera-like” experience than any iPhone I’ve used. I still like the interface of the iPhone more but from a camera user perspective, this blow it out of the water
I think the true comparison would be how much better does this camera perform in this same situation vs another flagship phone (Apple/Samsung)? If those phones are able to perform as well, then it has missed its mark. Those phones have full control as well (not sure in terms of the editing software on the phone though). They can control the trinity items and focusing and white balance.
Photos from the phone clearly has a ton of noise even in places with adequate light. I'd like to see how a phone with a proper 1" sensor like the newer Xiaomi phones perform against the Xperia in such low light scenarios.
Hey, the photos looked really neat and very tidy - kudos ! But how easy was it to ‘fiddle’ with a camera-phone instead of a holding a ff camera camera ? And what did - would - the images look like blown up to 8x10 or larger ? Very Interesting film thu, thkz.
hey hey! I mean, I'm someone who prefers physical dials for sure, but the system is pretty darn easy having all options in front of you at all times. The higher ISO stuff would suffer being enlarged, I'd assume, but things under 800 ISO I'm sure would print just fine.
It seems most images off a cell phone (or any camera) can look great on the internet. I have a Sony Rx100 (same 1 inch sensor and Zeiss lens) and the hand held images I get off that can be enlarged well past 48 inches wide and still are tack sharp with great color and no wide angle distortion. Can the Xperia match that?
I don't get why Toms Guide bashed this phone so much... Every phone takes the same photo with post-prod jpg photo. But reviewers forgot to check RAW photos what are literally good as compact RX-100!!!
How does the battery hold? Did you had to plug into a portable power bank or something during the shoot? It has a nice camera with natural bokeh, but mediocre battery and overheating.
The 2014 released Panasonic DMC-CM1 with 20 MP, 1 inch Sensor and 28mm F2.8 DC Elmarit Leica Lens took 100% Sensor usage, -coverage, instead of 60% roughly from this new uber expensive Sony Phone. It was the worlds #1 20MP 1" Sensor Smartphone.
@@benjhaisch My first smartohine was Xperia Z1. Now i use Honor 20 Pro. The video quality is not impressive. At the moment I'm deciding whether to switch to an iphone or to another model. I am interested in the quality of videos, photos (especially when shooting reports) and - what is important for my work - the quality of live broadcasts. The Honor 20 Pro has a terrible broadcast quality even with a strong Wi-Fi signal. The video slows down, freezes, is constantly interrupted. Sound too. How does Sony cope with these tasks?
Eh I’ve actually never compared them directly, but I do like carrying the 1V more. It’s slightly newer as well, but both are great, especially with the cameras. Just depends on which specs you need.
Cost & ecosystem. I’m so heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem that it’d be hard to switch. The cost of the phone as well would be hard to swallow. Amazing device though. Superior to the iPhone in countless ways.
Pictures are so grainy and noisy. I don't know if it is because of the phone or just the way video is compressed because even your video footages that are not recorded with the phone is incredibly noisy.
In my mind your friend don't have to hire a photographer because you are the photographer. Sony is for someone who knows how to use Manual mode. My phone has a manual mode I wish I know how to use the manual mode.
The phone is definitely respectable, but to be honest, it's still nowhere near up to par. Even in the video (which is much smaller and compressed than seeing a full size jpg or raw) I could tell it struggles with dynamic range and what not. I think that it may as well be the lens more than the sensor, you just can't really fit a good lens that properly renders light in a package this small. This is no criticism on your skill that is to say, the shots were as good as anyone would get with such a device.
I hope you brought an actual camera for it and did the phone thing on the side, because its a phone camera. If they could replace the actual Pro cameras they wouldn't exist anymore.
Super underwhelming performance in overall image quality/detail. Sony needs to release a phone using a FULL one inch sensor, and bump up the megapixel count for printing images. The only reason any of these images look good is because of the photographer.
Sorry dude, I am no wedding photographer, But I would not pay you for most of your shots. There is far too much background and air. The couple look as though they are miles away. That is what my g/f gets with her smart phone - you cannot compose a good shot with the phone stuck out in the air! Can you show us Chelsea's photos

I’ve been doing this for 15 years. The couple doesn’t need to have their entire body in every single photo.
Amazing to think these shots are from a phone! Great work Benj! 👏🏼

I’m an Apple fan, BUT, an actual shutter button is something I wish the Apple iPhone had for YEARS.

There are use cases where it could, but if you're hoping to print that large, a dedicated camera would most likely be the best bet anyway.

How this camera works with macro photography? I mean flowers, bugs...

Is that grain or noise (on photo)?
Lots of noise in the lower light ones for sure. Added grain to all to sort of give some consistency across the set though.

The sharpening is probably from YT compression, but sure it’s hard for a small sensor to work at 3200 iso :)
