I noticed the same thing and also assumed the ones that didn't drop were higher ranking. Isn't it crazy that we know enough about these awesome animals to have all kinds of questions about them, while knowing we will never get answers to most of them? They say curiosity killed the cat. Good thing we're not cats.
It's interesting how the majority of the troops seem to choose staying in the forest over getting near the road during this time because of the cold, but that doesn't stop the bachelors and females looking to satisfy their hormones.
