I don't understand why there has to be controversy. Each wheel size is better at something different and everyone needs their bike to accomplish a different task. To each his own.
I was watching this video with a big smile on my face. I have a "modernized" 26 years old 26' hardtail mtb, and it handles great with it's new cantilever brakes, 34T 7V cassete, and 100mm fork. I don't want gold XCO medals; I want to have fun and health. And do some drops and jumps on technical trails, too.
Hello i am the ceo of SRAM. Today, we have a new revolution ! it's the 26+ it's basically the 26 but you have to rebuy everything. see you in the trail with the new 26 revolution.
great stuff...I watched it several times over the years, mostly as a winter inspiration... love this kind of hardtail shredding. also no telescopic seatpost 1:18 its just looks way cooler...like a big bmx:) unless you compete its just another extra that requires servis...no time for that, here to shred:)
I'm not that good. but not far away either. it actually isn't that hard to reach his level. just don't have to chappy components and a frame that fits you. and just give it your heart. if you don't already know. learn to do proper bunny jumps. also bunny to the sides. and wheelies. and everything in the trail/forest will be so much more fun
Never letting go of my 26. I tried moving into 29 territory and only did it half way...the front tire is a 29 but the rear is still a 26. Also the rider in the video was really good!
Wish you guys still made 26 inch wheeled bikes. Still keep a few old rigs up and running as they are so much more fun than my newer bikes. Sadly cycling it's all about big business driven faction these days so it's next to impossible to sell anything that's not in vogue these days.
Of course 26 aint dead. To this day the most technical skill are to be developed on a trials an dirt jumping bike which both use 26" wheels. So 26 aint dead, 29er "riders"are...
2020, still rocking my 2006 Giant hardtail. A few upgrades along the way for sure, but she still shreds. We've seen too much shit together to part ways...
i have the on one 456 carbon that has been cut in half and stretched on the down tube and drop outs , 445 chain stay ,455 reach , 64 degree headangle and a really low bb its so rad , you can go flat out and still flick it about when you want to i love it so much fun to ride
In Estonia is pop 1,3million . Here is bycycles ca 900.000-at they is ca 75% MTB-s = 680.000 at they is 26" wheelers 90%- that mind 620.000. (8% 29" wheelers and 27,5" 2%).
It's always the rider, not the bike. I'm sure this guy would rip on any wheelsize. Amazing edit though, Ive been watching it before rides for inspiration! Gotta love 26" hardtails!
Just accept change! Once the fork makers close down 26” production its GAME OVER. I can`t see anyone putting anymore development into 26” frames. Nice video by the way!
Just to clarify, 29 and 27.5 are much weaker than 26 inch wheels and are much less 'maneuverable'. Try ride a really tight and fast trail (that one would need to throw their bike about on) with a 29er. It would be like 5x10^999999 less fun (where the base 10 numerical system is a measurement of fun; the lower the number, the less fun).
simonExplorer thanks for your comment, that is a nice bike for Cross Country, Enduro is more aggressive in relation of the trail, I could say that is more and less between Downhill and Cross Country, and we need front suspension between 140mm to 170mm, to attack technical paths and steep, rocky descents.
Julio Apaza you're absoulutely right, but in my opinion whatever mtb hardtail you purchase, you will need to change the fork. Hardtails are basically used for cross country, that's why they have a front suspension between 80 and 100 mm.
9 years later and here I'am still dreaming of this hardtail
it's so bloody awesome! i still ride 26 and this video was a huge part of my decision
Three years later and I'm still watching this and it's still just as awesome.
SamFr1000 ikr
7 years later
Six and a half years (one Cotic BFe, one rocket and one RocketMAX) later - still awesome.
@@bullfrogboss8008 It's somewhat ironic that Cotic has already killed it's 26" line.
@@AnttiBrax I just bought a Cotic BFE
That's right! 26" wheels shouldn't disappear just because "the industry" says so! Long live 26" wheels!!!
Indeed
thas right!
2021, still watching this, every time I am feeling sad, it makes me happy again.
Change for profits sake, 29" bicycling fashion for the fashion conscious rider. Long live 26"
29" have a better marketing - 26" have a better handling!
Still one the most exciting hardtail edits! Always makes me wanna grab my bike and head out...
I’ve got the 2018 bfe 26’ and can confirm it does everything. I rode over 100 miles in less than 9 hours on it last week!
26 inch bikes for life love the video
Read my comment from 5yrs ago...26" is well and truly dead, but this video is still awesome and makes me wanna ride!
26" ain't dead, and cro-moly frames lives forever!
With 853 Reynolds downtube
this guy rides better than most people with full suspension
aussie swagman The style of mountain bike you ride doesn't define how good you are.
Kill-Em-All 1989 full suspension is over rated.
"its not whats on the bike, but whos on the bike" - cant remember who i heard that from but its fitting!
Matt Golden that’s not the point he’s making mate
Craig Evan's mate, hes a beast
I need. This shirt. In my life.
Guy knows how to shred.
26 inch will live forever
I don't understand why there has to be controversy. Each wheel size is better at something different and everyone needs their bike to accomplish a different task. To each his own.
Well said

I just got that bike and it’s the best bike I have ever brought
Still riding a 26" Soul in 2020. Wouldn't change it for the world.
2023: 26" lowtech steel MTB is what I need
Absolutely, with nice easy to work on external cables.
Shredding my Cotic BFe26 all the time! Built it up in October 2018 and put over 2,600 miles so far. And with a 2019 Fox 36 831 it's siiiiick
What a ride!!! This guys knows very well how to ride a 26''....Awesome!
The funeral part gets truer every day 😢
Long Live The 26er! :)
26" best forever !!!
You need to keep making 26" bikes.
Hardtail and 26" is all that you need, start to ride ;)
2017, and i'm currently looking to build my first steel 26er hardtail... it's still not dead
Awesome! I ride a 24x3 singlespeed klunker right now, most fun bike ever! My body is ready for 26+ now :)
Hello i am the ceo of SRAM. Today, we have a new revolution ! it's the 26+ it's basically the 26 but you have to rebuy everything. see you in the trail with the new 26 revolution.
:-) could happen in near future...
lol :).
26+ is coming out very soon WTB have just released there tires and rims
Funny thing is your prediction was right, it already happened. Check out bikes like Surly Instigator 2.0 or Jamis Eden
I have A 26" bike and it was my first bike as old as this video. Still its my only bike still using it happy 26.
Damn! What a run! Cool bike, too! 26 ain't dead!
That guys reaction when the priest mentioned 29 and 650b was priceless!
really love this agressive, borderline-sloppy, all-out riding style, wanna ride now! =)
great stuff...I watched it several times over the years, mostly as a winter inspiration...
love this kind of hardtail shredding.
also no telescopic seatpost 1:18 its just looks way cooler...like a big bmx:)
unless you compete its just another extra that requires servis...no time for that, here to shred:)
You need to keep making 26" bikes. I know you read comments.
agree
For DJ n slopestyle, 26 is here to stay. Nuff said...
26 WILL NEVER DIE !
+Nick P. I would Be Pissed! If they Stopped Producing.
+Allen Burbank (Allen'sBear) yes , actualy they will not stop , even 27,5 bikes (some of them ) can take 26 inch wheels .
I love this. all of my rides are 1990's hardtails with 26 inch wheels.
Wow - that guy is fast! I want one of those T-shirts! :-)
love the handling of my 26 inch ...
don't worry.....26inch will never die..for sure!! ;-)
Dang... Makes me want to build up a 26er in the year 2020....
I am still ridding my 26 in 2019 ...
And 4ever

that guy kicks ass on a hardtail!
Just bought a BFe 26 second hand , swapped over the parts from my Piglet and away I go , not ridden in anger yet , thats next week :-)
Awesome because Cotic doesn't make them in 26" anymore.
the greatest mtb rider ived seen!! wish i could ride like him!!
26 definitely isn't dead. I ride mine all the time when I don't feel like going as fast or having as much fun as I do on my 27.5
26" Orange 5 (2006) still going strong....
Never letting go of my 26. I tried moving into 29 territory and only did it half way...the front tire is a 29 but the rear is still a 26. Also the rider in the video was really good!
Good riding bro! Love my 26"!
awesome ride...awesome music!!!!!!
Wish you guys still made 26 inch wheeled bikes. Still keep a few old rigs up and running as they are so much more fun than my newer bikes. Sadly cycling it's all about big business driven faction these days so it's next to impossible to sell anything that's not in vogue these days.
They now have a 26 plus out , it's up to a 2.8 tyres
wow, really like this guys style
How can he rida that fast? That's insane!! :o
Good thing for me. At barely 5ft 26 in a Juliana Santa Cruz is all I'll ever be able to ride.
yeah..yeah..i love that guy....26er forever..
I'm into dirt jumping but sometimes I wish I could batter my bike down hill like that!
27.5 and 29"

Of course 26 aint dead. To this day the most technical skill are to be developed on a trials an dirt jumping bike which both use 26" wheels. So 26 aint dead, 29er "riders"are...

Red Hot Rebellion - You bring the thunder, i'll bring the lightning
those are some tight jeans.
Great, i also ride a 26 Zoll Hardtail
2020, still rocking my 2006 Giant hardtail. A few upgrades along the way for sure, but she still shreds. We've seen too much shit together to part ways...
Where is this filmed?!
26 ain't dead, but 29's the best size 4 XC riding ;p
2018 still riding my 26" Onone inbred and Turner Nitrous.
i have the on one 456 carbon that has been cut in half and stretched on the down tube and drop outs , 445 chain stay ,455 reach , 64 degree headangle and a really low bb its so rad , you can go flat out and still flick it about when you want to i love it so much fun to ride

Epic video!
Ain't dead in Novi Sad, Serbia MTB Community ! ( :
which is the band that sounds in the video???!!
You Bring The Thunder, I'll Bring the Lightning by Red Hot Rebellion
I still ride 26. where can I buy that shirt
It's always the rider, not the bike. I'm sure this guy would rip on any wheelsize. Amazing edit though, Ive been watching it before rides for inspiration! Gotta love 26" hardtails!
Thats a freakin 26er on its natural environment, id like to see 29ers shred those curves, if they can.
Just accept change!
Once the fork makers close down 26” production its GAME OVER. I can`t see anyone putting anymore development into 26” frames.
Nice video by the way!
they are not going to stop making 26. there will always be people who prefer 26 and there will always be people who 29 is too big for
Just to clarify, 29 and 27.5 are much weaker than 26 inch wheels and are much less 'maneuverable'. Try ride a really tight and fast trail (that one would need to throw their bike about on) with a 29er. It would be like 5x10^999999 less fun (where the base 10 numerical system is a measurement of fun; the lower the number, the less fun).
I'm looking for a 26" Enduro Hardtail... a good price, as a second bike (I have a FS 26"), .. I plan to remain in 26" as long as possible...
Julio Apaza my friend rides a 2012 trek 4500. Nice bike, but I don't know if it fits for enduro trails
simonExplorer thanks for your comment, that is a nice bike for Cross Country, Enduro is more aggressive in relation of the trail, I could say that is more and less between Downhill and Cross Country, and we need front suspension between 140mm to 170mm, to attack technical paths and steep, rocky descents.

Julio Apaza buy a commencal meta.
-26 wheels
-hardtail
-aluminium frame
-140mm fork
simonExplorer you dont need big travel fork on a hardtail. its redundant
26 e la migliore
This was made 8 years ago.
Holy shit that rider is crazy
Looking around my local shops, 29ers are still the exception rather than the rule.
Rad!!!
Is this 120 mm fork?
140mm
It's a rock shock revaluation 140
BorderTom is it not built up with a pike in this?
It is
160mm Pike
How it is possible i still riding my 26er :)
