I love your bikes, I started mountain biking on a cotic soul and the playfulness of the bike lead me to ride bmx, I fully intend to build the cotic enduro bike of my dreams when I graduate college. You guys know how to make the best chromoly frames in the business. Keep it real, keep it steel.
Love it! Thanks for the in depth video. Love my FlareMax, in the interest of lightness and finesse for the majority of a race you can’t beat it. Mines on SID’s with Hunt Trail wheels and tubeless Conti Argotal for racing. But like you, I use Hunts XC race wheels and various lighter tyres for everything else. I’ve got the RockShox Delux out back and run quite a bit of damping. I prefer that feel personally, maybe a hangover from how I ran MX bikes. It’s under biked about 5% of the time, but for the most part it’s perfect. The combination of 853 and its geometry makes it feel way more capable than anything else I’ve ridden. Missed the nerding on tyre pressure tho, and whether you run inserts? I’ve killed two sets of Hunt wheel bearings, mainly the rear outer one. Ceramic bearing(s) next 👍.
At 92kg I run 20psi in the front and 24psi in the rear of the 2.3 tyres I have on there. On WTB 2.5" tyres I run a couple of psi lower than that. No inserts.
Great video - thanks! I’m a on a C4 and a similar weight to you, also using the CC inline shock with similar rebound and compression settings, but according to my pump I need 260psi for 30% sag - seems a lot if you only need 220psi? Wondering if my pump gauge isn’t accurate. Absolutely loving the bike though!
Pump gauge accuracy is a bit all over the place, especially at higher pressures. Key thing is the right sag (which you have) and using same pump so you don't get different readings all the time. To be fair, I didn't check it again after setting it before the race because it felt good.
Little follow up to this: I put an Air IL on the Jeht I'm racing at Ard Rock this coming weekend and needed 235psi for 30% sag. The Jeht has very similar rate curve to FlareMAX, but with more travel has more sag and therefore lower pressure, so I'm not surprised you are running 260 to get your FlareMAX running right.
170mm. I ran 175 for years, but the shorter cranks are kinder to my rubbish knee, and I have always been more of a spinner than a masher. We spec the bikes with 170mm too, but we can get 165 or 175 if you have a preference.

What length cranks are you running Cy?

Are you still developing an e-bike?
I remember seeing a video with you and Guy Kes, but haven’t seen anything since.
Yes, we are. Just taking longer than we hoped. Look out for more info later in the year
@@CoticBikesUKThat’s great news! Looking forward to hearing more about it.
