Much more the balance and shifting your weight around than the tires - though a good tire absolutely helps. But it's kinda like slides/grinds on skateboard or BMX, the difference between instantly stopping, getting killed, sliding to much, getting killed, and a perfect slide/grind, is finding that perfect middle ground. The problem is, it's often really hard to determine that on the first go, so even an experienced rider is likely to get issues on a stream crossing like that the first go - but I'm guessing this is Chris back yard, so not his first rodeo on those rocks... :D
That was clinical riding by Chris and the editing, soundtrack and cinematography was just the cherry on top. Thank you to everyone who made this video happen.
Chris Akrigg deserves to get way more recognition for his awesome riding. This video has some of the toughest riding, while coming along in such an unpretentious package. Combined with the fantastic track from James Welsh, it's one of the videos I love to go back to and rewatch again and again and...
the next greatest bike video ever made is here. Akrigg may be the greatest cyclist ever. this is mind blowing in its creativity, lighting, physicality and musical treatment. masterpiece.
I don't know why you *don't* think it's any good! Be humble: take a break from the manicured doubles lines and try some technical off-piste riding like this. See what skills you're really still lacking. Then acquire them.
It's surprisngly rare these days to see Athletes ride mostly for fun as appose to competeing all year round (like most). You, Danny Mac and Dan Atherton seem like some of the only ones who ride more for fun than anything else. 4 Months of waiting. Worth it.
I've seen my share of riding videos and after years I just keep coming back to this like nothing else. Just incredible! The flow, terrain, ridiculous skills, all match up. If I were to show to a martian, what MTB is at its best, this video would be my choice by a wide margin. Pure art!
Blown away here, what an Awesome film, top quality footage, countryside to die for and some of the best riding skills known on this planet \m/ \m/ Legend Chris, Legend :)
Love Chris's films! He found interesting terrain, tamed it with style, and used James Welsh muzak which is always entertaining. So much riding skill. Drone sequences are fun. Chris's signature turn on the rear wheel is a classy movement. Very satisfying film!! Congratulations Chris!
Excellent work Chris, nice to see some long sequences and plenty of natural features (and trees, I like the trees!), your skill and imagination never ceases to amaze me! I think you deserve a cuppa and an extra mince pie now lad.
damn! that was a good one ! incredible riding ! the river part seems so slippery ! riding trials with a full suspension bike is sooo difficult ! perfect filming ! the camera always moves, that add a very nice feeling of motion . great song too ! , thanks you !
Here is a beautifully shot video. Man.... lot's of work went into this, and the bike riding skills of the rider is extraordinary. Some ride a bike for practical purposes, others might ride to enjoy racing, others just to enjoy the environment around them. This rider is an artist, a painter of sorts. His bike is his brush and the natural world around him is is canvas.
every time there is a Chris or Danny video I say to myself "wow, this is the best. They can't better this". Both prove me wrong every time. :) Such a joy to see a Chris Akrigg video waiting in the subscription tab :)
Watched Deathgrip and Alchemy 3 last night. Both stunning pieces of cinematography, and great riding, but I can't see myself watching them again. Watched this video again for probably the 20th time this morning before going riding. A++++++
Amazing. The first video I've seen in years that has made me rethink choosing lines. What used to be out of bounds off trail spaces seem full of potential now. I love that there is a trials influence but it isn't 5 minutes of stationary hops, there is always forward motion. Very rad!
good stuff. just the riding without full on trials moves makes me want to ride, the navigating techy trails. the trials is the bonus showin skills. all your videos inspire me to ride.
Lots of trials riding is extremely contrived. Most of the time you are quicker without the bike. What I love about this sequence is the way Chris moves through the landscape quickly. With skillful use of a bicycle he is able to take genuine benefit from it as a means of transportation rather than simply prove that is can be done.
I was planning to do this exact same route on the weekend, but now you've done it I probably won't bother. Might stay in and watch Pointless Celebrities instead. I stand impressed. (Well, I am lying down in bed so I am lying impressed.).
fucking beautiful. Thank you Chris, and to everyone who helped put this together. I found this profoundly enjoyable to watch and look forward to re watching already. best Christmas present. Thanks for all your hard work.
Incredible mate!! Well good!
Sam Pilgrim you know you've done well when Sam pilgrim complements your vid
Sam Pilgrim nice new video
Hi Sam!)
Hahahaha. Just wanna say hello too. :P
How can this dude only have 35000 followers????
That was sick Chris! Outstanding riding
Fabiolous scape 2 is sick too! .. How the hell do you still alive?.. Don´t get it men.
Fabio Wibmer Да вы оба лучшие в своём деле !!! 😉👍
Yes bro🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲
The skills. The music. The editing. This is art.
I truly don't understand how you are able to get so much traction on mossy rocks with wet tires, insanity!!
Yeah, green moss can be slippery as soap just being damp, so you gotta ask what black magic is at work here.
ive been thinking the same while watching the video
its probably the body movement helping with traction or some crazy witch craft with the tyres
Much more the balance and shifting your weight around than the tires - though a good tire absolutely helps. Loving the water stuff, just a great ride all the way through!

came for the bikes, stayed for the music.....
please Mr James Welsh, please make this available to download, it's an amazing track!
I jumped this sweet curb on my way to work this morning!
well done! we all start small
Nothing is groomed. Just gnarly riding through amazing terrain. This is what my dreams look like.
Just gob smacked at the skill, balance and endurance to do that. Hats off as well for the filming and music.
Absolutely incredible. Chris your one of the most talented bike handlers I've ever seen. Enjoy your riding style very much.
Incredible, Superman of Mountainbiker, perfect control, style and choice of the tracks, thank you.
It's surprisngly rare these days to see Athletes ride mostly for fun as appose to competeing all year round (like most). You, Danny Mac and Dan Atherton seem like some of the only ones who ride more for fun than anything else.
4 Months of waiting. Worth it.
Making the seemingly impossible possible through sheer will. I love your style!
Taking mountain biking to an art form !!

Defying gravity like this is an art, the sound track is phenomenal makes it all look surreal.
Well done Chris I keep on pressing replay!!!
This is unbeliveable Chris ! what a performance ! When I watch Chris videos I forget the bike, whatever bike he ride. Thanks for the video
Seriously The one and only person on earth whom can ride like this....

Even after seeing a lot of videos from amazing riders this year, this one just blew my mind on so many levels.
Best natural environment trials video. Well edited and a pleasure to watch.
Absolutely incredible, so much talent. Much respect for playing it as it lies Chris!
Thank you Chris. Inspiring riding. Shows there's more than one way to have fun on a trail bike.
True Mountain bike riding - freakin' awesome man! excellent video production as well!
You know that spot where you stepped off? That's where most of us would be back on the bike. Damn.
Excellent work Chris, nice to see some long sequences and plenty of natural features (and trees, I like the trees!), your skill and imagination never ceases to amaze me! I think you deserve a cuppa and an extra mince pie now lad.
Never anything short of supreme trials skills on an enduro bike!
still my favorite bike vid, all this time after. What a beautiful edit!
Chris, your skill and creativity never case to amaze me. Ace!
love it. wasn't sure on the music at the start but by the end it works perfectly with the riding.
Huge respect for you Chris. This video is so so cool.
Everywhere is a trail for this guy. So amazing.
damn! that was a good one ! incredible riding ! the river part seems so slippery ! riding trials with a full suspension bike is sooo difficult ! perfect filming ! the camera always moves, that add a very nice feeling of motion . great song too ! , thanks you !
Brilliant work yet again, everyone should see this.
One of the best bike videos ever!👏🏻😎✌🏻
Fluid is what comes to mind. No matter the terrain Chris remains fluid. Much Props!!

Amazing riding as usual, thanks for putting it out there.
Finding flow where i couldn't find traction.

Epic show if skills again Chris, nice to see the number of sponsors growing!

Incredible video! Love it and love the soundtrack, where can I find this song? Thanks!
Wonderful, full of freedom and grace.

I stand impressed. (Well, I am lying down in bed so I am lying impressed.).
very technical and so smooth...i love his riding-style!
Sweet Akrigg awesomeness! Why ride trails when you can ride along a river, complete with slimy boulders and fallen trees! Superb video, Chris.
Awesome skills and great editing! Well done, Chris.
I was watching this with such amazement that I think my mouth hung open and I started to drool at some point.
I'd have trouble walking half of that! Wow!!
Work of art as always Chris!
