Some of them do a large hotpot pot that you share with your table and others give you your own individual hotpot pot. I recommend trying one and taking note of what sauces and ingredients you like, so you can buy them in the Asian supermarkets nearby afterwards to make at home. The Asian supermarkets have premade hotpot soup bases in different flavours in packets and you can get Asian style meatballs (usually fish or beef), tofu puffs, mushrooms Asian greens,.and of course all the sauces. Since we're in Ireland, things like prawns, mussels and clams (frozen or chilled from Lidl etc) are great in hotpots and you can just buy fillets of beef, lamb or pork from the butcher and partially freeze it so it's easier to slice very thinly and they'll cook in the hotpot within a minute or so. Anything goes with hotpots! I also recommend getting the portable induction hob from IKEA to use for your hotpot, better and safer than the portable gas stoves.

The latter is nice one to drink as a soup at the end when you're done as long as you didn't make it too salty or peppery. Enjoy!

the difference between hotpot and Malatang is such that you share a common broth base with other customers so you don't have to pay for your private soup base. Basically the more economic and fun version of Hot pot
