I have not seen your update for some time, I had thought about you might have caught Covid since you ate out a lot. It is almost impossible to escape Covid infection . But good to see you recovered and enjoying yourself。
Take it easy with physical activities during recovery. Sanya is quite pricey compared with the rest of China. Lots of Dongbeiers bought properties in Hainan to escape the bitter winter cold. Kind of like New Englanders stay at Florida during cold seasons. I have the same "Don't waste room on veggies" mentality😃. Always take some digestive enzymes if you are not sure whether the foods contain milk products.

It is very interesting to see how Hainan specialties are southeast asian specialities as well.. I think I heard that quite a lot people who emigrated from there and other typical former emigration regions of China, are remigrated back to here, Hainan, and brought those treats with them.. Or maybe some of them of course brought their stuff to southeast asia in the beginning.. I think its a mix of both.. At least the mentality, culture and other stuff I saw in Hainan has a lot of southeast asian vibes

China is so big, has different landscapes, northern and western part has minus 20 during the day, in Sanya plus 20 degree during day. Derk has said, you take the flight 5 hours to Sanya but you are still in China.

Thanks for excellent vlog! I quite often been to sanya when I am in china. I suggest Clearwater Bay(Qing shui bay) which is in the rural area of sanya. cuz much less people there in the beach of Clearwater Bay 😂, only natural coast , and it is more beautiful than the Bays in city centre. Also, the Raffles Hotel in Clearwater Bay is fantastic, you can try it next time haha
Such a lovely video, we went from Shanghai to Sanya on the 24th, and yes just recovered from covid. Stayed in Yalong Bay Sheraton, terrible food. However the food outside was out standing, we ate soo much. Went Houhai as well as we met up with a friend there and stayed for the day. Went diving in the main Aquarium at Atlantis one day which was great. It was nice to see you with all your mixture of friends, thats what I love about Shanghai, its such a melting pot, however this year we hade no xmas and no new year party, as all of our friends have left China for good, we are the only ones left now. We ended up having a Wechat group video call on NYE. And yer the Buffets at the resorts are crazy prices, even during the week. Best food we had was at a Hainan restaurant in the Marriot Resort, Thai, out near the supermarket as well as Korean BBQ, but the Hainan chicken had me hooked. After having Covid the week before we traveled and then a week in the sun, it was really a good way to recover, we both feel great now. Roll on the end of Feb and off to Thailand for some more sun, feels so great to be open again, people are happy and optimistic now, I am loving China again.
The tradition of "uvas de la suerte" originated in Spain. As the clock strikes each hour to 12 you eat a grape. Go for the small ones so you don't choke. My first New Year's in Spain, I just about choked trying to stuff and eat all 12 by the stroke of midnight. Good thing there was a magnum of champagne nearby.

The problem of buffet: once you get the weight on, possibly in just a few days, they don't go away. You may need another 10 years to lose the weight.
