  • I found this angle grinder at a flea market.
    Main part of the restoration is bearing replacement, and the cleaning of old oil and grease, since it wasn't use for years. I plan to use this tool and not keeping it for display :)

    I wonder whose brilliant idea it was to stop making tools out of beautiful 100% recyclable metals and make them out of plastics? Another perfect restoration of a tool made to be used. In twenty years time there’s no problem restoring it again.
    A great video, thank you.

      Thank you, I was impressed by the quality and precision of the parts, I bought this for 3€, cheaper than the spray paint ! :)

      I've never seen any plastic pneumatic tools. Electric tools make sense, since it helps to prevent getting shocked if the tool shorts. Also, complex shapes are much easier to achieve with plastic. The problem now is that the plastic they use is getting cheaper and cheaper.

      Because plastic is more abordable than steel

      ? ? ? My question was more rhetorical musing on how things that used to be beautiful no longer have that beauty.

    I am always blown away at how many different parts are inside these things, the tools needed to take them apart, and that you remember how to put them back together again. Me, I would be in deep doo-doo. :-)

    Good restoration! ! The glitter of brass has regained its antique beauty.
    It is also meaningful to show the inside of the air tool.
    Thank you very much.

    Holy shit that wrench was HUUUGE, great job mate you have inspired me to do something similar. Although knowing me I would half ass restore it then wouldn't be able to get the thing back together. Sort of story of my life...

    I worked in a workshop where they had this amazing pneumatic disc sander. Very light, precise and powerful. Awesome tool ! If you can get your hand on one of these, don't think twice !
    Much better than even a festool sander. You can hold it in one hand and use it all day long without tiring your wrist. Noisy though ^^

    A good point for the use of suitable tools (wrench, spanner wrench, etc ...)
    A good point for replacing the fluted tip with a "Staubli" tip ...
    Beautiful blue paint ...
    The downsides:
    You could also have changed the dawns into celoron ...
    You should have removed the bronze foundry burrs ...
    POP rivet remains cannot be removed with a watchmaker's screwdriver ...

    Great work, i might have a go at an air die grinder I've got, how did you pick a left hand thread before trying to undo it the normal way?

      @forgottentoolsrestoration1786  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you ! when you can't see the thread, you know it's a left hand thread when it's too late ^^. In this case I spent some time trying to undo it the normal way before understanding it is a left hand thread.

    Could you repaint the protective shield?
    Although blue is one of my favorite color, I feel this particular blue doesn't belong here at all. Maybe darker? What was the original one?

    • @forgottentoolsrestoration1786
      @forgottentoolsrestoration1786  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the original was darker, I was expecting a darker blue when I ordered the paint. I plan to repaint this part when I'll do a blue epoxy paint batch :)
