Thanks. My Makita drill has been stuck for months. Watched loads of you tube vids to sort it, used force, adjustable spanners in opposite directions, WD40 etc but nothing would budge it. Who'd have thought a gentle tap on the 'grippers' would have sorted it in 2 minutes.
Awesome video. Nice clear voice steady clean video and no yes I said no crappy music in the background. You encouraged us by saying Don’t give up. Thanks much.
Thanks. I was about to buy an entire new drill as my chuck was so sticky... I've really forgotten the raw power of WD40 ⚒️. You've saved me 180 dollars! 💸💰💵
Drill bit’s been stuck for over a month, was on the cusp of going out to spend £40+ on pliers to try and free it. 3 squirts of WD40 and a few taps of the hammer and it was like opening a carton of milk! Thank you! 🙏🏻
YESSS! 😁 I’m so glad you did, I sure do know how painful was it to have this drill bit stuck inside. You are very welcome, no go and drill away everything my friend 😁😁👍👍👍
Tride everything on mine , it jamed even without the bit in it. With broot force managed to get the jaws opend enough to remove the chuch locking skrew and removed the chuk. Filed it under B for bin .
I feel your pain, my friend, I had one old one that could do any job under this sun, but it got jammed and nothing could fix it. I still got it but it doesn't work, just to remind myself how good it was 😁😁
I HATE keyless chucks, they either don't tighten enough or they tighten too much! What was wrong with key chucks? I NEVER had problems with them! I am going to change ALL my drills back to key chucks.
No, the reason was too strong concrete wall 😂 I pushed my drill bit too hard into the wall for too long and everything got stucked, but I menaged to fix it 👍
@@rookie.handyman thanks for your response strong💪 man... I was more lucky than you (or weaker lol)... I lost the central screw from the chuck (old metabo 3 jaw standard) and literally the drill bit just slid into the threaded bore... WD40 helped, missing screw replaced...
Do not grip any adjustable wrench or pliers to the hex nut around the jaws that grab the bit. The material is softer than the ideal hardness of the adjustable wrench and pliers so it will give and immediately strip and dent under moderate pressure. And do not hit the jaws with anything these TH-camrs have shown. Because that material too is softer than the material used for screwdrivers and whatever. What is actually tougher than the other parts is the chuck itself. I had a chuck that was stuck even worst than anything shown online. I really thought I trashed my drill. But I used a cheap 10 inch Husky brand curved jaw locking pliers from Home Depot. I used the lower end of the drill handle as leverage and got it to turn and open the jaws again. I didnt notice any significant damage on the pliers either.
Thanks sooooo much for having posted this video!…I had exactly the same problem without a solution. I sat in front of your video and copied exactly everything you did and voila!! Good job! Well done! And thanks! 😅
Thank you for your comment! This is exactly the problem I had often and I decided to make a video about it. Luckily it is really helpful to people! Glad you found it useful! 👍👍
@@rookie.handyman: I wasn't asking you about "perfect" anything; just that one thing. Besides, it's not really about English when it's just one letter. Anyway, just curious.
Thanks for the video: little advice: SDS Drills don´t belong in normal chucks, thats why it got stuck.. ;) Use normal masonary drills and it won´t be stuck ..
Heh nice catch 😊 Yes, I have used SDS Drills all the time in this drill machine, and it usually works just fine, but sometimes it does get stuck. I also recommend normal masonry drills, it is way easier with them. Thx for your advice 👍👍👍
@@rookie.handyman Usually nothing would speak against it. The issue is the grooves in the SDS drills. They are usually symmetric (2 grooves). Most chucks are asymmetric (3 claws) . The result is always one claw sitting half in the groove making it jam due to uneven pressure. Been there ;) Still thank you for your work!
@ournewbulgarianlife4097 Yeah, and the worst thing is when you use a big long drill, you can see how it rotates in a loop, not a circle but a loop because of this third groove that doesn't fit nicely. But hey, gotta make the hole somehow 😁 👍👍👍 Thx likewise.
What do you do if the chuck opens just fine but the drill bit is shoved deep down inside? My son tried to drill hard wood with the wrong drill bit and now the bit is impacted deep inside the drill. No amount of pulling with pliers makes it budge. (He's 8, he didn't know any better 😭)
He at least tried his best 😊 he will learn it is nice that he tried 👍 I think you need to disassemble the chuck, to remove it from the drill, then it will be easier to find the solution I think. Just type your drill type and add how to remove the chuck or how to disassemble the drill and you will find it on TH-cam. Good luck 👍👍👍
It wasn't clear but it looked like you were using an sds drill bit. If that was the case it's no wonder it got jammed, the jaws biting into the sds slots.
Correct my friend, I was using sds drill bit, no excuses there, could not find the right drill, used the wrong one for one job, and everything got stuck 😂 I learned my lesson that’s for sure!
tried so many different techniques i had found on google, but nothing did the trick until i came across this man; a hammer, and some WD-40. Legend.
Yuuuup, it works wonders 😁 👍 👍

I'm so glad to hear that my English is understandable enough, your comment really means a lot, thank you, will keep on working on improving it, thx 👍
I love the accent, the energy and could easily understand. From the farm near Battle Creek, Michigan, USA. Fixed my drill.
@jefffrayer8238 I’m glad to hear that my friend, much better than throwing it away. Greetings from all the way from Europe, Bosnia 👍👍

WD40 and a little bit of hammer power 😀I'm glad this video helped you, go use that 180$ for some other cool tool 😄😄😄
Hvala ljudino, izvukao sam burgiju nakon dva dana nerviranja. Sve isprobao i haman odustao, kad izleti tvoj video. Živ bio!

You saved me from buying a new drill…thank you so much
You're welcome! Glad I could help 😁😁
Penetrating oil and tapping down with a hammer and screwdriver worked like a charm!
Yes nice, it sure does do wonders 😁 👍
I was right in this situation my friend. Now it is solved after watching the video! Thanks

Great job! You’re welcome 👍👍
Fixed it in 5 minutes. Thanks 👍
Excellent, glad it helped 👍👍👍
Tried everything! But finally something that worked!
Nice, I’m glad to hear that 👍👍👍
The main thing is patience. I tried all of these techniques, and finally after half an hour, I got the bit out! Thanks for posting.
Yes correct, this technique works, you just have to do it enough times to lose the bit. Glad it helped 👍👍
I hammer with another screwdriver to get a loose and it worked. Thank you for your help.
Yup that work also, glad it helped 👍👍👍
My Dear Friend..! We did it TOGETHER!!! I watched the video and achieved same result exactly as you did! It's been emotional! Thanks a million.

I`ve been trying to unstuck a drill bit from my Milwalkee for days. I´ll try your tips out. Thanks!
This sure did fix my drill bit, be sure to try it. Good luck! 👍

I HATE keyless chucks, they either don't tighten enough or they tighten too much! What was wrong with key chucks? I NEVER had problems with them! I am going to change ALL my drills back to key chucks.
I agree, it is much easier with key chuck, you decide how much to tight it and it is much easier to release it. Key chuck is my choice also 👍
Thanks for the pointers. 👍👍
No problem 👍 thx for comment and support 👍👍
Yeah, mate, great presentation! Will go and do as you say. Thank you.
Thank you, I hope you do it successfully 👍👍
Thank you very much for the tip. WD40 and screw hammeeng works!!!
Glad this helped you 👍👍👍
Wow, that was easy, thanks
Glad it helped! 👍
Worked a treat ty !
Excellent!!! Drill away 😁😁
Thank you, worked well.
Excellent 👍👍 Glad it helped!
Tnx for sharing this is & was very helpful
Happy to help 👍👍
Good job guy 👍🏼 i am in trouble like you i'm going to try again with the magic WD40 THANKS
You can do it! If WD40 alone doesn’t work then try to tap it a couple of times with something like I did in my case. Good luck 👍
It works ! Thank you !
Excellent, glad it helped 👍👍👍
Combo tricks n patience 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽✊🏽
Exactly so, little time and it will be done 👍👍👍
Channel locks works everytime
Thank you so much bro!
You are welcome brother 👍👍
Well done
Thx 👍
Was the reason of this that you put an SDS bit into the standard (3 jaw/non SDS) chuck?....
No, the reason was too strong concrete wall 😂 I pushed my drill bit too hard into the wall for too long and everything got stucked, but I menaged to fix it 👍

@attilabori4734 yeah I know, sometimes a simple little screw can do so much trouble. Glad you was able to fix it all 👍
Thanks for sharing

Thanks, man, it worked, I used the handle to grip the chunk and use my manly powers 🤣
Jup, that will do the job, I had sore hands day after, when they stuck they are stuck 😂😂
What is "VD-40," Irfan?
Just a normal WD 40 spray, you can buy it in any hardware store 👍
@@rookie.handyman: Then why are you saying "VD-40"?
@HelloKittyFanMan Mistake in my “perfect” English 😂 I meant to say W, sorry if I confused you 😊

Edit hit the 3 piece of metal that was holding the bit and it got loose
Jup, that works 👍👍👍
Mine got unstuck after just the hammering part. 😂 Thanks!
Nice work, you are a lucky guy, I had to work on it for 15 minutes 😂😂
Just imagine if you had arthritis in your hand , thats where the key chuck wins
Yeah, this method definitely doesn't work if you have arthritis in your hands, gotta get creative. I hope that key Chuck works nicely for you 👍👍
I've arthritis and carpal tunnel, so game over for me 😔
yer I had carpal tunnel in 1 hand , but it sometimes cleans up on its own , so it might not be game over yet , Take care

@MalcolmJames-sg3zg I have carpal tunnel in both hands, and it isn't getting any better, only worse. Doctors want me to get surgery on both hands.
