In the words of the man himself "That's her, one TH-cam channel up and running again, ready for work!" Outstanding Dean, you got back in really fast. All is well in the world again now. Well done.
This couldn't have come at a better time guy on site has a few with this problem so I said I'd have ago for him with deans help. Dean you have saved me over a thousand pound with your videos I'm forever grateful, repaired 6 of my tools
The fact of the matter is all the tool repair men I deal with will not completetly gut the tool like Dean does so we've had to learn it ourselves as the boys beat the living hell out of the tools every day. There is no one better to show you the gutting and reassembly. Cheers Dean I'd love buy you a beer or ten.
Phew! Seeing video pop up s was a relief after I searching TH-cam for Dean Doherty yesterday after realising there had been no new videos and found the help message. I really felt quite ill. Then got a thrill today especially since I have a DCD796 sitting in a box with a sheared off chuck shaft. I only became aware of the damage when I went to drill a small hole in wood the chuck just stopped rotating, no bang or any other indication of the breakage. Now thanks to this video I have the confidence to go on the lookout for a similar faulty drill to cannibalise as purchasing a whole new front end is too expensive. P.S. Last week I followed Dean’s advice when with confidence gained I replaced a bearing in my sons Milwaukee angle grinder that he was about to throw in the scrap. (an NSK that cost $10 NZ dollars) Thanks Dean.
I appreciate you highly Dean as there are not many in this world left that are willing to share their knowledge freely to help us all. I hope to have employment soon and if I make enough I will be gifting you. I would love to send you a small token of my gratitude hoping that every time you look at it or use it you will get a smile on your face remembering you have brothers all over the world and sisters too haha
The Man, The Myth, The Legend of Tool Repairs, Dean Doherty! Wow, she has seen some rough service? It always amazes me the shape some of these tools are in! I believe in use, not abuse. I have this same drill, USA Version, and I completely agree regarding the Hammer Drill function. Otherwise a great little drill. I use it primarily for drilling Pocket holes and misc stuff. The amount of planetary gears and all in that thing amazes me. Good stuff Dean!
Excellent video. I had the same problem with my hammer drill and attempted to repair it but got hopefully lost in re-assembly. I ended up ordering a new part. Of course it now works like new AND I now have box of spare parts. Thank you.
FYI when I disassemble something for the first time. I use cupcake pans for parts trays. Then I know what parts go in what sequence. And don't have parts left over. Thanks for the great show keep up the good work.
I love to see the 'specialty tool' hack in action. I have always been one for coming up with my own 'specialty' tools.. If there are ones I have to make, sometimes filing down an open ended wrench or shaving the side off one, I'll mark it and save it so I know next time. Great savings! Edit: Looking at this one and all the little pieces, this is ONE tool I'd surely send out to have repaired if it truly meant that much to me. I'd absolutely put her back together 2 or 3 times trying to get the planetary gears aligned properly or in the correct order. Yeah that's a fun one..
It's back! Very happy to see the channel restored. Nothing I hate seeing on youtube more than the tesla logo at this point. Here's to a return to normality!
Hammer mode can be useful for smaller holes. Small SDS bits are hard to find and break off really easily. I also hate using a SDS on ceramic tiles, it's just asking for trouble.
Delighted to see you back in Action Dean. Must have been a stressful day. By the way your channel logo is still the Tesla symbol. I assume that is left over from the scammers.
Hi Dean i have a Milwaukee cordless drill gun C12DD i think it is 2009 ,heres the thing it only works in 1 setting 2 setting slips any idea's.any imformation will be appreciated
In my opinion, the hammer mode is irrelevant because it makes the machine more fragile, off-center and imprecise for drilling small holes. Maybe useful for an amateur to drill a hole in a brick, etc... for a professional who should also have a real electric hammer drill, the hammer mode on the battery drill is a big minus... both for precision and longevity of the machine. I recently ordered a BS 18 LT BL SE (mid-range and special black edition) in addition to the old Metabo BS 18LTX-3 BL QI and the brand new BS 18 LTX BL QI...and they mistakenly sent me the SB version of this machine with hammer mode.🤨 I wasn't mad, and I ordered another machine, but this time specifically the BS version, because for €113 it's insanely cheap considering that the set has a metal gearbox housing (it can't be seen from the outside) needle bearing planetary gears and double ball bearing chuck shaft, and is Made in Germany😃👍. This machine will be fine for my son - as I said, a hole in the wall here or there - it will be fine for him, but for me... I don't like the thing - it has axial play in the direction of the shaft even when the hammer mode is off.👎 I love your videos-keep it up💪...I watch all of them😁
The channel was hacked and changed to look like "Tesla US" channel and was live streaming some crypto giveaway (I mean who gives out crypto like that). They were live-streaming an AI-generated Elon Musk speech in which he promises to pay you double the amount you send to some BTC address. It was obvious from 4000 feet that it was a scam, but who knows, older people fall for stuff like that... I hope you were able to restore everything back to normal, Dean.
Dean theres a video by Linus Tech Tips called "My Channel Was Deleted Yesterday". They went through what appears to be a very similar scam. Might be an interesting watch
It looked so complicated at first but the more I watched, the more clear it became. Thank you Dean for sharing
Glad to see you're back from the hack! Really missed the videos yesterday
thats, im so glad to get it back
In the words of the man himself

I’m amazed you did that so fluently, you have to be an expert for all them bits , for correct installation 😊

Great method for the chuck removal. This video will serve as a great reference repair for anyone trying to fix a Dewalt drill.
WELCOME BACK!!! Glad to see you managed to get access to your channel. 🎉😊

I'm happy you've got your channel back! luckily you still have your videos some people aren't as lucky.
Excellent video. I had the same problem with my hammer drill and attempted to repair it but got hopefully lost in re-assembly. I ended up ordering a new part. Of course it now works like new AND I now have box of spare parts. Thank you.

Absolutely love your videos SIR!!!!!!!!
Glad you like them!
@@deandohertygreaser yes sir!
Graet to see you got your chanel back
Your so clever make it look so easy
Impressive that Dewalt will provide with individual parts in the gearbox. My Makita drill drivers doesn’t have that. Only complete gearboxes.
I love to see the 'specialty tool' hack in action. I have always been one for coming up with my own 'specialty' tools.. If there are ones I have to make, sometimes filing down an open ended wrench or shaving the side off one, I'll mark it and save it so I know next time. Great savings!

He’s back!

The power tool magician
Glad your back
Delighted to see you back in Action Dean. Must have been a stressful day. By the way your channel logo is still the Tesla symbol. I assume that is left over from the scammers.
Welcome back Dean, I hope they dealt with the culprits who hacked yor channel!
Congrats on getting your channel back Dean, I hope my link I sent you helped. Regards …. Phil
thanks, it all helped
Welcome back
welcome back and F the scammers!
Great video as usual. I have a Makita DHP484 with the same problem. Is it the same principle?
I've drilled to many holes with my DeWalt to know to use my Bosch bulldog. Usually 40+ year old concrete. Hard as my mother in law.
This is funny Patrick! 😆
Eyyyy you got your account back! Hell yeah!
Hammer mode on drills is not useless, it's just for drilling in brix.
For concrete, you need a rotary hammer.
Seemed to be a Pretty complicated gear box.Nice video
Hackers really are cowards.
This one channel I would miss watching! I'm glad deans back
Those sponsorship scammers are everywhere unfortunately.
yes, and iv now learned the hard way about them. never knew this could happen to a youtube channel.
Do you fix a makita radio I like makita radios
Immediately - and I mean IMMEDIATELY I reach the tiny cogs everywhere on the bench, it's dustpan and brush and new drill.
Hi Dean i have a Milwaukee cordless drill gun C12DD i think it is 2009 ,heres the thing it only works in 1 setting 2 setting slips any idea's.any imformation will be appreciated
Is it possible to fit transmission from another drill to this model without hammer mode in order to avoid hammer mode stuck again?
Where do you get these parts?

I believe Dewalt has puller for the chuck.
