- In Skyrim you’re going to come across many choices throughout your playtime that can alter the fates of various characters and factions. But, there’s also a handful of choices available to the you, that you may not have even known about. So here are 8 secret choices you didn't know you had in Skyrim.

Throw some expensive items on the market floor in Riften, step back and watch the pandemonium. Even quest givers kill each other with no remorse.
There is more to that.
NPCs are aware of things you throw out. The "fight over it" comes when more than one NPC wants it. But not all NPCs participate.
When you throw a weapon to the ground, the guards might walk up to you saying that it is dangerous and people can be hurt, you can even remark you don't care, which will cause the guard to become hostile.
Sometimes an NPC in town will walk up to you with the item telling you that you lost something, and you have the option to let them keep it. Which will increase their disposition towards you.
But there are limits to what NPCs will react to. My Whiterun looks by a dump by now, but neither guards nor citizens say anything about the empty bottles, plates, bones, flutes, ruined books, bowls and baskets.
@@HappyBeezerStudios that's why I wrote in Riften. The whole town has a different mindset. More greedy. In whiterun they tell you to stop loitering. Anyway I like that the NPCs react at all
@@HappyBeezerStudios that reminded me of a time i over encumbered myself during a bandit fight so I dropped items to decrease my weight the bandits stopped fighting picked up the item and gave it back to me then stating fighting again
@@willmurphy4113 "hey, you dropped something"
those bandits might be bad guys, but that doesn't mean they're bad guys.
@@willmurphy4113 That's an honorable bandit... wait what?
Sapphire is an interesting NPC... she is in fact tagged as a marriage candidate, and has all the dialogue for it. But in order to marry anyone you have to get them to friendship level 4, which is impossible with Sapphire.
A programmer wanted her all to himself.
Upsetting cause she would be a good option
@@gioc2512 click on her in the console commands menu and type setrelationshiprank player 4 and addfac 19809 to make almost anyone a candidate, and it works on her
Instead of bothering to go kill a hawk for the cure disease, just use a shrine of any diety. The whiterun talos shrine is an easy and convenient one.
Killing a hawk still helps if you're playing in survival mode where praying at a shrine costs money.
Another option if you have Hearthfire DLC is carrying around garlic toast. A yummy snack which cures diseases lol
@@dennismokry258 Garlic bread is so GOATed it cures disease.
@@dennismokry258garlic bread is literally life changing
@@lunatic_52 simply be less poor
I actually didn't know most of them. Who would have known that after 13 years, I would still be learning new things about skyrim
Um..how have you played for this long and not found out any of this? Gotta venture away from that sneak archer sometimes😂
@@justinturnley3026 I was actually a mage in most of my playthroughs. Only in my current playthrough am I a sneakish Archer and I didn't find most of these
I knew there were lots of ways to deal with Saphire, but I never thought to leave it until I was her boss.
Unless you intend to skip the Thieves Guild questline altogether, I highly recommend doing so. She panics, and it's HILARIOUS.
@@maileesaeya3614 Thieves Guild is my favorite quest line. It's really the only one that's fleshed out. There's a reason you're the one that winds up as a leader, and to actually finish the whole thing you need to do a whole bunch of thieving. (Some people don't like the radiant quests from Vex etc, but I feel it's vital to the actual story.)
I will definitely do this next time. :)
@@darrennew8211 To each their own. I'm glad you like the Thieves Guild quest line, but I honestly don't, though not because of the radiant quests (those are actually my favorite part), but just because of the whole final arc of the main Guild questline. I actually find it far more tolerable since I added a mod that lets me reject becoming a Nightingale.
Personally, my favorite is the College questline. Becoming Archmage might not require casting more than one or two spells, but the position nevertheless feels "earned" after everything you go through to get there (though it helps that I have mods that make playing a mage FAR more viable than it is in vanilla). Also, you get to kill both the most idiotic Thalmor AND the most competent Thalmor. What's not to love about that? :P
@@maileesaeya3614 College is OK. It's a bit short, and there's no real reason why you become the most important mage in Tamriel; had they actually said "you're boss because you're dragonborn and thus can do both kinds of magic" it would make more sense. And, technically, you don't have to ever use any magic at all to be head of the magic guild (see Spiffing Brit). The side quests for the guild (fetching the dwarf stuff, for example) are better than the thief radiants, though.
Having to become a nightingale in order to run the thieves guild is kind of what you'd expect. I never worry about it, and just figure I'm already dragonborn so I already know Akatosh (or whatever his name is) is getting me after I die.
Necromancers indeed have a hard time dying. Some even stay around afterwards.
The true villain of Skyrim, "Big Alchemy".
I knew it. 😂
Hawk Feathers really are one of the greatest ingredients in Skyrim. Cure disease without needing to brew a potion is always welcome when have the enemies in Skyrim give you some kind of disease.
*hums in agreement*
I bet they taste awful though😂
Don't do this at home kids
Eating hawk feathers in real life doesn't cure any diseases
It does the exact opposite 🫠
@@KGAnimsDamn you, I was about to say this then saw your reply.
Can also give the claw back then immediately steal it
Can I just point out that the college of Winterhold and companions questlines are the only ones where it makes no sense that you become it's leader, in the thieves guild you are the one to kill Mercer so it makes sense, in the dark brotherhood you the listener so it makes sense, in the others it just doesn't.
The whole questline didn't make sense. You don't learn any magic while you are a student. You get more magic skills from Bard College.
@@chazzx1018
True
It's sad
I makes sense from a thematical pov but unfortunately not from a narrative one. In order to make the game more mainstream I believe. Ironically enough, the thief guild is the only one where you actually have to do a bunch of side quests before being truly recognised as the leader.
@@xegin1572
That's why it's one of my favourites
All hail mighty Nocturnal
You’re literally the elder scrolls setting equivalent of dragon Jesus, why wouldn’t they make you leader?
8 "secret" choices that's really aren't secret or really choices even. Just sort of stuff you might not know happens.
As for the feahters another bonus .. if in survival mode .. they weigh alot less then potions😅
Especially in survival mode, but otherwise as well... I remember a run where I used Whirlwind Sprint to get my overencumbered ass to any merchant (I think it was Adrianna, or perhaps the Khajiit caravan where I ended up). It was just after release, so didn't have survival mode.

Who in their right mind doesn't have the DLCs by this point
Wait, right from the start you are telling me that I could be something else rather then a sneaky archer? That's impossible...
Did you know that there is actually a shield of Ysgramor that literally everyone missed?!?! You can find it in Ysgramors Tomb, at the end of the dungeon. There is a chest hidden in the far right of the tomb along with a secret exit
Do… do people not know about that chest…
@@connormorton665I was gonna say it seemed pretty obvious
Most people don't. Some just kill the beast and run off to do other quests and not loot the entire place
I have that thing. Cool looking shield
I found the seild first try... I think everyone here is already a loot goblin... like.
You missed the choice of lying to Sodia and killing Kematu to scatter the Alik’r Guard!
I think that this one is well known at this point

Im so happy there are still people playing that game and im not the only one
As of writing this comment: 2231 play Skyrim and 20875 play Skyrim Special Edition. And that's just on Steam - there's also GOG, PS4, PS5, XB1, XB Series X|S, Switch, all the fridges and toasters and calculators.... 😁😂
Luckily, there is a mod that allows you to deny her and basically tell Boethiah to eff off. Quest is then marked as failed - but I'm ok with that.
All daedric quests should have two options at the end, shame not all of them have and you need mods for that.
There is never a need for mods. Of all the playthroughs I've had, I've never used mods and never will.
@@garymaidman625 Loser.
Also you can brew your own cure disease potions with mudcrab chitin and charred skeever hide. There are also several other ingredient options for it.
For Sapphire, right after joining the guild, you can threaten to tell Brynjolf about what she's doing and she'll drop the debt.
There are great alternative start mods out there. One of my favorites was a bandit start. It removed the main dragonborn quest and shifted a lot of faction reputations.
You start in a bandit camp. And initially all of the city guards are hostile to you.
OMG! The trouble I had completing that Wolf Queen quest. If I had only known!
I did number 1 on accident. I saw the guy as I was walking around scouting, and my first build found this spell called bound bow that was just AWESOME so my Stealth NecroMarcher kinda whoopsied some parts
Actually at higher difficulty, the ritual head won't die from a stray arrow and the ritual won't get stopped.
But for anyone that sucks at archery!
There is a wandering dragur
(that for some reason isn't controlled by the ritual head but far enough away to not agro to anything)
on the lower platform of the ritual,
if you lure it to the mages on top of the tower he finishes one of the defenceless mages
(for some reason the two next to the ritual head don't move even if attacked)
and then has a 1v1, that the dragur should always win.
Then the regular mayhem happens that everyone knows of these videos!
(I too found that on accident, because I never got the angle right and started experimenting after I noticed that the dragur was up there while I overshot the target 10 times)
This video is sick, and i would watch a whole series on this. My one question is, would it have been better to go to the greybeards?
I would love to see them hold off a zombie horde!
After hours and many different play throughs, I have never (and I am including my first play through) fought Potema the "correct way" I've always used bow and arrow. Ive never even looked up what happens if you don't. Wild.
Lycanthropy or Vampirism makes you inmune to all diseases.
Didnt know about the hawk feathers curing disease. Works out nicely, since they are lighter than potions.
Why would I return the claw to Lucan? I mean as long as I have the claw, the riverwood trader is open 24/7....as soon as I return it Lucan starts the 8am to 8pm routine.
Ah yes the typical npc is waiting on the player to finish something with them thing, where they never sleep, i guess that makes them just like me in skyrim😅😝
But then you have to listen to his incessant ranting about the claw. Which is worse?
I find it incredibly fun to skip Bleak Falls Barrow and the Golden Claw all together. It's amazing how much of the game you can get done without this because it means dragons NEVER spawn in the world. You can collect most or all the words of power. Of course, without dragon souls you can never use any of them. But I don't think I ever hit a roadblock. I definitely completed the Thieves Guild, College of Winterhold, and Dawngaurd as well as most if not all of the map.
Fall damage needs to narrate my wedding
I actually did point 8 on my first playthrough. When i found boethiah's shrine and was told to kill a friend, i was so upset at the notion that i decided that for the good of everyone, all of boethiah's followers should die. I was very surprised that the game creators actually added a dialog for that choice.
For the necromancer quest, I once somehow made the shot and was excited to see I passed the quest with 1 arrow.
I been playing this game for years and I will admit i had no idea about #4 or #7
Instead of going to Solitude to kill hawks, go to the Alchemist's Shack, where there are some on top of a barrel. These respawn too, so you can go back in ten days for more.
Say what you will about greedy pharmaceutical companies, imagine being able to buy a potion that _instantly_ cures _all_ diseases with one dose!
In reality only the wealthy would have access.
@@kyleshertz2277 the Dark Brotherhood is an important balancing factor
Bruh, I didn't even know that there's more to it for the Potema Quest line until recently 💀
I always sniped them for afar, so I never knew that there's more to it 😂
#1 I didn't know about this. But then again, I shoot everyone with arrows so I could take all that good loot.
Regarding number 3: If you have access to the console (like you would if you're playing on PC like a civilized person), you can use a command to unbind your hands without going through the keep.
Only a couple more years until you can make elder scrolls 6 videos
if it sucks like starfield, no one will care
Okay so I asked everywhere and I'll ask it here since this channel is almost 100% Skyrim related, have anyone experienced the bow of shadows bug? Like it worked perfect before but now on level 47 (I don't know if it's level related but whatever) it just doesn't make me invisible anymore like it used to, how can i fix it?
Great channel btw idk it's not related but I need help.
You feed it more souls? Power runs out on weapons. Otherwise I’m at a lose lol good luck 🍀
@@l.clairevisto8210 it's no rechargeable, it just has that enchantment forever, just like maybe your ring of magicka, boots of resist frost etc.
Are u by any chance wearing the Ebony Mail? If so dont worry the bug is only visual because of the stealth effect of the armor, u might see yourself but u are invisible...
I did the first one not knowing it would work. I just took the shot to see if I could hit someone at that range and it turned out to be the ritual master. I laughed and walked out of the cave.
i just remembered one:
start the Dark Brotherhood quest, BUT, when told to kill one of the three tied up people, KILL THE ASSASSIN INSTEAD!
this changes the quest completely, and you will be hired by the authorities, to kill the rest of the brotherhood!

"Freedom of choice is skyrim's bread and butter" very first line in the video is a lie. Real funny one too.
Spare Ralis Sedaris' life in Solstheim and he will follow you later. Get the Ebony Blade from Whiterun. Take Ralis to Boethia's shrine. Kill with Ebony Blade. Or Mace of Molag Bal.
necromage doesnt work with unoffical patch, which everyone should have.
Something that I've noticed about these videos is I don't think I've every watched one where I didn't already know about every single entry before hand. I have truly experienced everything in thing in that game, probably why I can't stand playing it anymore.
That's what mods are for.
@@pedigreeann Mods just don't do it for me anymore. The only mods I've enjoyed in the past 2 or 3 years are the total conversion mods like Enderal, but those don't count as they are completely different games just built in Skyrim's engine
I mean I didn’t but in order to get the shield you have to be the head to the tomb of the companions in order to get it
i never thought to just carry the ingredients / reagents ... Potions get heavy as shit
didn't know where to put this as I've jus read a article claiming a player has jus discovered that you can steal briar hearts from forsworn, and it will kill them instantly, apparently this has dumbfounded players, lol the game has been out for over ten years ppl claiming they have discovered new things no u haven't,I've played skyrim for 3years 3 different consoles, and discovered these claims during my playthroughs, and even others had shared these on forums back thenI mean seriously ppl wake up and happy gaming 😊
Necromage doesn’t actually boost weapon enchantments. Only attire enchantments.
it also makes helpful spells, like Stoneskin, more effective.
Freedom of choice is skyrims bread and butter.
Become stealth archer.

You cannot be both a vampire and a werewolf at the same time, as I believe the disease resistance counters eachother
With the help of mods you can
That's not what he says
You absolutely can via bugs even in vanilla, so long as Dawngaurd is installed.
Disease potions? Hawk feathers? All i see is extra gold septims, since well.... *laughs in werewolf.*
Also laughs in Argonian or in Vampire, or in general. As lets be honest when was the last time anyone playing Skyrim even noticed they were diseased. You almost never contract them and you don't even need a Cure Disease potion or ingredient to cure one, just click on any Shrine.
@@A_N1ne Perhaps I'm just crazy unlucky, but it's not a question of if I get Rockjoint, but will it be in five minutes or less than one! Stupid wolves are constant, and I love my melee too much.
