He really wanted for the Night Mother to choose him, but without batting an eye he submits to her will and accepts you as the leader. THAT'S loyalty. Meanwhile, Astrid is dismissive of you being the Listener, even jealous. In her mind, if you look at the dialogue, you just became her rival. So, I thought I'd spare Cicero... I had no idea what the outcome would be, but I couldn't bring myself to kill him. Loyalty must be rewarded, not punished. I see his situation as similar to Delphine asking you to kill Big P. I ain't doing that, I love that dragon.

Here’s my issue. Idc if the stormcloaks are racist or whatever, the Thalmor are too so either side is a con in that aspect. Even so, they still allow you to enlist in the Stormcloaks if you are a different race. The Thalmor have a strict Altmer only policy. it also doesn’t interfere with the gameplay apart from maybe a quest or 2. But with the empire, here are some reasons why I’ll never side with the empire again. 1, they try to kill me at the beginning of the game. Even they say I’m not on the list but they kill me anyways. 2, they banish the worship of a god that was once part of the empire. This is beyond hypocritical and should never happen. Anyone should worship who they please. And 3, again, THE GOD DAMN THALMOR!! These elves could easily wipe out the Empire if they wanted to. Look at the Great War. They almost annihilated the empire until the White Gold Concordat was signed. This basically made the empire the Thalmors puppet. The Thalmor are corrupt altmer that also want racial superiority across Tamriel. And during the Oblivion Crisis, AFTER the treaty was signed, where were they? I’m taking the stormcloaks every time because of these reasons. Plus, Ulfric is a much better character then Tullius ever could be. Imo, the empire has more cons than the Stormcloaks. Plus, Ralof is a better written character.

They allow you to join the stormcloaks because ulfric himself isn't a racist but the average stormcloak 100% is.
They try to kill you because they need a quick execution of a man that has the voice and is the leader of a rebellion that seeks to destroy empires influence in skyrim so of course they can't think properly.
They didn't "banish" talos worshipping, They just temporarily had people do it quietly. There is a reason imperials didn't really look for talos worshippers and even a lot of imperials also worshipped talos. Only because of ulfric did they have to "banish" it completely.
The reason the peace even happened is because the imperials ALSO almost annihilated the thalmor, Sure maybe the thalmor would've won but they could easily also have lost. Imperials are only following a few rules in a peace treaty to replenish their forces. If anything the stormcloaks are the puppets considering thalmor literally support their finances and weaponry and would prefer a stormcloak victory if any victory in the civil war.
Ulfric and Tullius is personal preference, I can understand liking ulfric as he is a strong nord warrior. But Tullius have his strengths too, Tullius is 100x smarter and is a great stategist and if a world eating dragon didn't appear he would've already ended the civil war long before it would've been a problem.

If you side with storm cloaks you are basically giving the elves a greater chance to win the 2nd great war which would eventually lead to world conquest.

As for Faendal or Sven... I'd say helping Sven is the better idea IF you don't want companions with you. How? While Faendal might hate you, he will still teach you archery up to level 50 and stealing that money back is pretty easy once you have some form to paralazye him (best to do with the pickepocket skill to place poisons on enemies for the least amount of detectability). And at the end of the day you still might not care about any one of them and the lack of actual help makes Sven an even better candidate to use a sacrifice to Boethiah for example. Faendal will thank you through a courier and nobody else has anything to say about it. Not even his own mother.

    @deanjohnson7283 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I don't agree with you on the 4th point.
Ulfric isn't a puppet for the Thalmor and the fact that they would left the Imperials execute him (and they were there, in Helgen, you can even hear Ralof make a comment about it) is enough of a proof that they don't want him alive.
The Thalmor don't want either side to win the war, they want the war to continue so that Skyrim is easier to capture after both sides put a lot of resources and men into it.
Another proof that the Imperials are the Thalmor puppets, is the comment Proventus Avenicci makes when you bring Jarl Balgruuf (Jarl of Whiterun) Ulfric's Axe.
Proventus literally says "The chests filled with gold didn't hurt", if you put your mind to it, you will understand that:
-The Imperials got BOUGHT by the Thalmor and the signing of the White-Gold Concordat literally proves that, because both sides suffered heavy losses, and the end of the war was unclear, then out of nowhere, the Empire just accepted the terms the Thalmor threw at them... Why did they accept them, you ask? Mountains of gold...
-This can also be seen when you see how the families of the Gray-Mane and Battle-Born live in Whiterun. The Gray-Manes are poor, but they want to protect their land from the Thalmor and Imperials. The Battle-Born sold out, they received a big pile of Thalmor gold to boost the Empire's presence in Whiterun.
-The fact that you see the Thalmor execute Talos worshipers on-sight, and also having captured a Stormcloak soldier is another good proof that they prefer the Empire to win.
Here is a direct line from the Thalmor Dossier for Ulfric:
A Stormcloak victory is also to be avoided, however, so even indirect aid to the Stormcloaks must be carefully managed.
We don't see any "indirect aid" from the Thalmor.
-Yet another point that proves it was like this and that Ulfric is against the Thalmor, is the Markarth Incident. The Empire left Markarth unprotected, the Forsworn took it over. Ulfric helped the Jarl there IN EXCHANGE OF ALLOWING THE WORSHIP OF TALOS. And we all know how the Thalmor feel about Talos... He directly broke the White-Gold Concordat by making that request, even right after the Great War and his capture. So calling him a "Thalmor Puppet" is quite a funny thing to do, when everything he does is lowering the influence of the Thalmor in Skyrim.
Yes, he was captured and tortured, and yes, he gave them information on how to capture the Imperial City (and they admit that the city had already fallen when he finally broke, so its not like he gave them that information willingly or because some coin was waved in front of his eyes like the Imperials tend to do).
    So in conclusion:
-If you support the Empire, you support someone who sold their entire country to the Thalmor, who did not fight until the end, but gave up, even when the Thalmor were extremely low on man power (so the Thalmor basically bough their victory, because they knew they couldn't win otherwise). Someone who would abandon the worship of a divine, just because they were told so and some coin was shaken in their face. Someone who would kill Nords, just because they wouldn't agree to the terms of the Thalmor when some gold is given to them (so non-corrupt people).
-If you support the Stormcloaks, you support (mostly *looks at Riften*) non-corrupt Jarls. You support the freedom of believing in a divine that the people know and love. You support the people, who fight for their land and their families. You support the people who CHOSE their high-king to be someone, who has proven that the empire is weak and corrupt, and who does not want anything to do with the Empire or Thalmor. You support the true sons and daughters of Skyrim, not some POS corrupt country which comes to your land to kill your people, just because they made a peace treaty you don't agree with because its just plain stupid. And yes, I am not going to argue that Ulfric is a bit racist...
But if I have to choose between selling out my country, killing my friends because of their faith, betraying everything my ancestors fought and died for and making their deaths in vein... and being called "a racist" ... Then call me a racist all day... And every point of everything I said in this comment is in-game lore, not some personal observation I made blindly. Even Bethesda gave us a hint in which side we should join by giving Ulfric the "Thu'um" and putting us in a carriage with him in the beginning of the game, the other hint being, that Talos was Dragonborn, and the Dominion/Empire want to ban his worship, and who were ready to take our head off without any reason at all... The reason I joined the Stormcloaks in my first play through (in Nov 2011) was because of the pure arrogance of the Empire. The reason why I played Stormcloak for the rest of my playthroughs, was pure lore... Just search for videos "Why you should join the Stormcloaks" if you lack lore knowledge... Imperial scum...

Thalmor were at helgen trying to save ulfric somehow but Tullius stood his ground to get ulfric executed. That is not them leaving the imperials to execute him.
You are partly correct but they want the civil war to continue because they want BOTH sides weakened but mainly for imperials to be weakened as that is their enemy.
The empire accepted the peace treaty because they weren't sure if they could win and wanted to replenish forces for a guaranteed victory and less losses.
They execute stormcloaks because they have superiority complex and wants all humans to die its not because they want imperial victory, If anything they prefer stormcloak victory considering they are supporting them so much, The indirect aid is money and weaponry.
People call ulfric a thalmor puppet is because he literally is one, Just not knowingly. He gets manipulated by them left and right so they can get their way.
Empire never abandoned talos either they are just supressing worshipping of him openly for good reason if you read the lore.
You're very obviously biased and only look at the smaller picture but if you try look up all kinds of lore of both sides you should quickly realize that in the long run (lore wise) imperial victory is just better. Even if the victory itself is not better than the imperials are still in the right for doing what they are doing, If the imperials acted like stormcloaks they would've been wiped out ages ago and thalmor could've controlled skyrim and had nord slaves by this time.

Ulfric doesn't hate the empire beyond what he sees as them stabbing the Nords in the back after using them as shock troops during the war. It is hinted at quite a bit that the Empire is simply stalling until they can overcome the Aldmeri Dominion and restore things to how they were before the signing.
I agree the Ulfric himself isn't racist, and the racism within the Stormcloak ranks is contained to a small handful of its members as most welcome outsiders as long as they don't want to undo Nordic culture and customs. However, if you listen to Ulfric himself and read the reports written by the Thalmor it becomes pretty obvious that he is a self-centered piece of **** who will sacrifice anything and anyone in order to see himself in power. His claims about wanting to restore Skyrim to its former glory are simply tales he's woven to gain the blind support of a simple people. He killed a boy-king just to eliminate any challenge to his leadership and betrayed his own people by giving actual intel to the Thalmor rather than finding a way to facilitate his own death before he could be forced to talk, as a true and honorable Nord would do if he actually valued his people over himself as he claims.
He's a charlatan and a coward, yet he pretends to be the bravest and most selfless of all.
I sympathize with the Stormcloaks, but the civil war actually lessens the chances that the Aldmeri Dominion will be stopped from their goal of "becoming gods" (which seems to actually mean destroying the entire plane of Mundus and restoring the Aedra to their former power as it was before mortal life existed).

But it's Ulfric's fault the Thalmor are in Skyrm, not the Empire's. The Thalmor could not set up an embassy in Skyrim until Ulfric made a big stink about restoring open Talos worship in Markarth, making it impossible for the Empire to deny that one of its vassal states was violating the White Gold Concordat.
While Ulfirc is not a 'Thalmor puppet', he *is* the Thalmor's unwitting pawn, and the civil war he started only serves to weaken humanity and give the Aldmeri Dominion an advantage in the next great war. This is why Elenwen showed up at Helgen, and why Delphine initially suspected the Thalmor were behind the dragons coming back; the Thalmor aimed to avert a swift Imperial victory by stopping Ulfric's execution, and Alduin's presence is what did just that. Delphine was wrong about the Thalmor being behind the dragons, but she was right about the Thalmor benefiting from Ulfric's survival and the war resuming.

That's what you get with your "peace" of 25 years, + at least 15 more years to rebuild the army after the civil war considering that's the choice the Empire made.
You don't have a "temporary weakened position" of 50 years, you just gave up, the Empire gave up, and it hasn't made a single attempt to stay afloat. All it does is sacrifice other provinces for its own gain.

I side with the Stormcloaks every time. Due to the distrust I have for an Empire that currently sells its people as slaves to the Thalmor for the sake of a temporary peace treaty...
To put it in other words: I don't believe that the Empire is anything more than a puppet-state of the Aldmeri Dominion at this point. The real capital of the Empire isn't in Cyrodiil, it's in Summerset.
As for the Imperial leadership and the Legion; they're either complicit or ignorant of it... Tullius is ignorant, too wrapped up in his idealized version of what the Empire used to be that he blinds himself to what it is now. Tidus Mede is complicit, he willingly works for the Thalmor to keep a cushy place on Cyrodiil's throne, even if it means he's a Thalmor puppet.

High elves literally have no issue with the nords. The dark elves claim that the murderer isn’t their problem until he kills one of their own and are literally plotting a rebellion. The argonians and dark elves would kill each other, and free winter won’t let them in either. They let the grey quarter become the 💩 hole it is. They literally govern themselves im the nord’s city. Also, dark elves may have the most racist beliefs of any of skyrim’s races and literally worship the elder scrolls devil.

I agree though that it doesn’t make much of a difference if the empire wins or not as some people think it does. The empire only has a relatively small legion in Skyrim, they aren’t losing much. And when the empire lost they already had the aid of the nords. As long as the conflict in Skyrim ends the Thalmor are weakened.

Also, you gotta think lol, your arrested crossing the border at the start of the game, coming back to your home of Skyrim. And you weren't on the list or anything, so, the Imperials/Thalmor was gonna execute you for what? Going back to your home country? And then execute you anyways just because they could. Stormcloaks aren’t any more racist than any other faction, and ironic to call them racist meanwhile they are fighting to free themselves from a group of people who want to enslave and murder them. And the whole “Ulfric is a Thalmor puppet” thing is complete nonsense. He’s a puppet as far as they want him to fight the empire to make them weak, but the Thalmor absolutely do not want the stormcloaks to win, because then they get absolutely kicked out of Skyrim and have another hammerfell incident on their hands. The empire made the white gold concordat because they are weak. Hammerfell was better off on their own. Wake the fuck up people, the Empire is the wrong choice.

For clarification, this is the entire dossier on Ulfric Stormcloak.
Status: Asset (uncooperative), Dormant, Emissary Level Approval
Description: Jarl of Windhelm, leader of the Stormcloak rebellion, Imperial Legion veteran
    Background:
Ulfric first came to our attention during the First War against the Empire, when he was taken as a prisoner of war during the campaign for the White-Gold Tower. Under interrogation, we learned of his potential value (son of the Jarl of Windhelm) and he was assigned as an asset to the interrogator, who is now First Emissary Elenwen. He was made to believe information obtained during his interrogation was crucial in the capture of the Imperial City (the city had in fact fallen before he had broken), and then allowed to escape. After the war, contact was established and he has proven his worth as an asset. The so-called Markarth Incident was particularly valuable from the point of view of our strategic goals in Skyrim, although it resulted in Ulfric becoming generally uncooperative to direct contact.
    Operational Notes:
Direct contact remains a possibility (under extreme circumstances), but in general the asset should be considered dormant. As long as the civil war proceeds in its current indecisive fashion, we should remain hands-off. The incident at Helgen is an example where an exception had to be made - obviously Ulfric's death would have dramatically increased the chance of an Imperial victory and thus harmed our overall position in Skyrim. (NOTE: The coincidental intervention of the dragon at Helgen is still under scrutiny. The obvious conclusion is that whoever is behind the dragons also has an interest in the continuation of the war, but we should not assume therefore that their goals align with our own.) A Stormcloak victory is also to be avoided, however, so even indirect aid to the Stormcloaks must be carefully managed.
